Unexpected
"Is there anything I can help?" I asked, seeing that my roommate seemed to be having a hard time putting away her things.
"Ah n-no need, it's okay. I'll do it myself!" The answer was confused. Seeing her shy and nervous reaction, I could guess that she was a shy girl.
"Don't talk like that, from now on we'll be roommates. Oh yeah, I heard you're majoring in psychology, right?"
"Y-yeah right."
"Great, then you can read people's characters, right?"
"N-not really," she said, looking anxious. Somehow I feel like this girl is uncomfortable with me.
"It seems like she doesn't like me? Did I do something wrong?" I thought. I, who basically have difficulty blending in, was forced to change my nature in order to survive in this place, far from the family and friends I have been used to all my life.
However, due to different conditions. Like it or not, I have to adapt to the new environment. Even though it was difficult and uncomfortable at first, as time goes by. Everything will definitely go well.
Kerry Smith is still unpacking the contents of her large bag which she will probably move to the wardrobe. Because there was no conversation, it made the atmosphere even more awkward. If it's like this, I'm even more confused about taking action.

Kerry didn't drop her clothes on the floor until they were scattered. Spontaneously, I immediately tried to help by collecting Kerry's clothes.
"Let me help!"
"N-no need, I'll do it!"
"It's okay, you can arrange your clothes in the cupboard. Let me take care of this part!"
"No! Let me do it!"
"But-"
Kerry immediately slapped my hand away. The clothes in my hands immediately fell. Among the clothes scattered on the floor, I accidentally saw a box of condoms that Kerry had probably hidden among her clothes.
I was shocked, even more confused about how to react when I accidentally saw someone else's personal item. Kerry, who realized that her objects were visible, hurriedly took them and hid them in the cupboard.
"How is this? I accidentally saw her personal belongings, she must be angry with me. What should I do?" My mind is restless. I glanced at Kerry who was busy tidying up the clothes in her cupboard again.
I felt guilty, even though I hoped I could find a friendly and fun roommate. But apparently, I can't expect much.
My phone vibrates. Finally, there was also a life-saving signal that could help me escape from this stiff and awkward atmosphere. I immediately opened my cellphone and a message came in from two women who I considered to be my official friends on campus, Diana and Kimberly.
"Soraya, I have included you in the group," wrote Diana in a message which she addressed as a discussion group.
"Wow, when did you form this group?" I typed a reply message. Meanwhile, it seems Kimberly is also typing something.
"New group, huh? Is it just the three of us?" Kimberly asked.
"Is there anyone else who could join us? It seems like the others have also formed their own groups," said Diana.
"Yes, that's true. But at least include men too, David, for example."
"Kim, why didn't you just say so earlier? But I don't have David's number, I have James's number."
"Also enter James' number, he's a funny guy. I have David's number. I'll send it."
"Okay, let me invite the two of them to the group."
I took a breath with a small smile, without realizing it, I had entered this small group without having to get closer to other people as suggested by my mother, who had always been worried, considering that I was not good at socializing.
"Soraya, how is your roommate?" Ask Diana, the type who cares and always wants to know about her friends' affairs.
"Yes, she's already here. But she's still busy packing her things."
"Is she British?"
"I don't know, I haven't talked to her either."
"Why is that? You didn't ask her to talk?"
"No, I've tried to help her and I thought we could understand each other. But she seems like a shy and quiet person."
"Really? Wow, that's hard, isn't it? But she looks good, right?"
"Yeah, I think she's a good person. Maybe it's because we're both not used to each other yet."
"If she's the quiet type, would that be good? My roommate talks a lot and sometimes makes my head spin listening to her chatter. So, it's better if he's a quiet person. You'll have a private place where you can calm down," said Kimberly.
Is that true? I couldn't jump to conclusions because the first impression I showed already made my roommate look annoyed. Even though she didn't say it directly, looking at the look on her face, I could tell.
Kerry Smith's phone was heard ringing on her bed. She, who was initially busy arranging clothes, immediately turned her attention to her cellphone.
"Yes, Josh? I'm already in the room, I just got here. But right now I'm still busy packing up my things. Just call me again when I'm finished!" Kerry said to someone on the phone.
I, who couldn't help but hear the conversation, just kept quiet and tried not to care. Because it was afternoon and my stomach was starting to feel hungry, I decided to go to the supermarket to buy groceries.
"S-Soraya, you want to go, right?" Kerry asked who suddenly called me.
"Yes, why?"
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to the supermarket to buy groceries. Do you want to leave something?"
"Um-that, I apologize for my attitude earlier. I didn't mean to be rude, I'm really sorry!" Kerry looked down with red cheeks showing that she was embarrassed to say it.
"It's okay, don't think about it! Do you want to buy something? I'll buy it for you,"
"If possible, please buy apple juice and bananas."
"Ok, fine. Anything else?"
"No, that's all!"
"Okay, then I'll go first!" I said as I opened the door and stepped out.
Strange, suddenly I felt relieved because Kerry was not as quiet as I thought. Maybe her attitude was because she still felt unfamiliar with me.
"Thank God, she doesn't seem angry with me. Maybe we can get along quickly!" I thought.
I heard the sound of footsteps walking closer. Three meters in front of me, a man with blonde hair was walking in the opposite direction to me. The man was wearing a black jacket and there was an earring in his left ear.
I passed him, because I felt like I didn't know the man, I just walked as usual even though their eyes met for two seconds.
"Is he a student who lives here too?"
