SIX YEARS LATER
LORRY SPRINGSTONE'S / KELLY THOMPSON'S POV
How the time flies by so fast! I'm twenty-five now. It's been six good years that I have been here in Liverpool, far away from my people, far away from the werewolves' universe. I have been easily accepted here where I run a school, in fact a human school. Can you believe that? I'm a werewolf though.
Nobody ever cares about where I come from or what my background is or even how I do look. All that matters to them is who I show them I am today. And so, here I'm Miss Lorry Springstone, the director of one of the most prestigious medical schools in Liverpool, England.
Along with Leila Woods and Dora Woods, my two best human friends who are by the way twin sisters, we try the best we can to make the medical school stay competitive and at the top.
I'm in charge of the general administration of the school, however I very often lend a hand in the teachings to Leila and Dora who respectively lecture biology and kinetics.
When I came to Liverpool, I was admitted pretty easily to the public university of the city in the medical science field thanks to my advanced knowledge acquired at the South pack's school. Indeed as a werewolf, my skills and senses are five times more developed than those of most humans. So usually, everything here seems like a child's play to me.
About two years ago, I successfully defended a thesis in biomedical science with special congratulations of the jury and thus awarded a PhD grade. This is then how right after my graduation, I was offered the position of director of this marvellous school.
In short, that's the new life I have been embracing for the past six years, putting thus behind me the stressful life of Kelly Thompson, the one week Luna Queen.
My only regret in my former life is my son Eden Bentley, the prunel of my eyes. He must be a strong and young werewolf now. I have missed all his anniversaries. By the end of this spring, he will turn six and again I will not be there in the South pack's castle to whisper to him: "Happy birthday honey, mom loves you."
It hurts, it hurts so badly. Being deprived of your only child for years. Having to leave behind the flesh of your flesh in trouble circumstances, to save your own life.
"I Jason Bentley of the...," Uh I can't finish that rejection sentence. It simply provides me with headache and the whole day I won't then be able to focus on whatever I try to carry out.
I have heard that, although no longer interested in the pack's stuffs, Jason has been ruling over the South pack assisted by that blonde bimbo, Betty Nord, who is now his wife and the Luna Queen. They have had in the meantime two cute female pups and according to my source, it gives their father joy seeing them getting along with their senior half-brother, the little Alpha heir Eden.
However, it seems sometimes Eden is very sad because he misses me terribly since I have been driven away from the castle by his father after the poisonous pill incident.
My haters spread the false account that the old Alpha King Don Bentley who is now late, peace be upon his soul, was lucky the current Luna Queen Betty was visiting the castle the day I 'poisoned' the monarch. These tongues of vipers broadcast the fake news that by chance, Betty as a nurse student back then, was carrying in her handbag a healing potion that she hastily gave to the ruler and was able to soothe his pain.
The old Alpha King was so grateful to her and even regretted that he had not allowed his son Jason to marry her sooner and forced him instead to pair up with a chubby and badly smelling female werewolf like me. Oh, poor Kelly!
THE SUMMER HAS BEGUN
It's breaktime in the medical school in Liverpool, I'm in my office and the twin sisters Leila and Dora Woods come with three cups of coffee, a huge chocolate cake and a fantasy magazine, very popular in the area. They hand me over one cup of the so tasty arabica beverage and a piece of chocolate cake. Then Dora begins to comment the front page of the fantasy magazine.
"Oh, look at that sexy and muscular werewolf promoting the next grand annual festival of these wild beasts. I wished I could be invited," says Dora.
"Oh come on, Dora! They don't even exist. This is a Greek mythology. Where do you think this grand annual party will be held? Of course, nowhere but in the dreams of these magazine's storytellers," mocks Leila.
I hear this and I'm dumbfounded by how ignorant humans are on the werewolves' world, being myself a werewolf although I'm now wolfless.
"Leila, don't you believe in werewolves? You better do because I could make you change your mind right now," I tell earnestly the twin sister to inoculate fear in her while I unbutton my top as if I am about to unleash the wolf in me.
But I remember Shelly died long time ago to save me. So I stop what Leila ultimately dub as pure craziness.
"Are you crazy girl? You too believe in fairy tales, Lorry? Come on!" Leila says before releasing a laughter.
Dora and I follow her laughing until suddenly a mysterious handsome man knocks at the office's door. He is tall and massive with neatly cut beard and wears a very expensive suit. We are all captivated by this strange beauty. The type that you don't see in the streets of Liverpool.
"Excuse me Ladies but I'm here to meet the director of the school Miss Lorry Springstone," he declares.
I'm shocked because that top model is here for me. I furtively looked at Leila's and Dora's faces and I can spot a bit of jealousy although they try hard to hide it the best they can.
"Oh, please sir, come in!" I answer in the most professional way possible.
I'm a director and we are in an office. I can't let this guy destabilize me so easily. I must be composed and professional. The unknown visitor approaches my desk at a very calm pace and I invite him to have a seat, which he does.
However, surprisingly and to the great disappointment of the twin sisters, he requests to talk with me privately. Leila and Dora can hear him so they don't wait for me to beg them to leave. They gear up to take the door swiftly as the school's bell rings at the same time to announce the end of the break.
"Oh, Lorry, we have to go now. We still have each a last class before going home," says Dora while packing the rest of the chocolate cake and the empty cups of coffee.
"See you later!" she adds once she's done packing before departing from my office, tailed by her twin sister Leila who as they leave can't get her eyes off the attractive visitor.
Now on a head to head with the man, he introduces himself as Tom Braxton, the messenger of a king from a faraway land who is on the lookout for a doctor for his soon six-year-old ill son. He insists the king will pay one gold bar or two if his son is cured.
The pay is three times what I earn in the medical school here in Liverpool for managing a thousand students, so I blench. The foreign man has grabbed my attention. I'm not unhappy with my salary but I need more money (who doesn't?) for some personal projects. Moreover I am a great fan of anything that is about royalty. So the temptation to answer by the affirmative is enormous. After all, I'm a former Luna Queen, am I not?
"Mr. Braxton, thank you very much for your offer which is a mark of esteem for my person. However, I regret to have to turn it down for personal reasons. Don't be offended!"
