Chapter 5: The Most Impressive Person
Long before Margaret set foot in the Fisher Group, rumors about her had already spread throughout the company.
"Have you heard? William's fiancée is going to work at the Fisher Group! And she's going to be William's secretary."
"Isn't she supposed to be ugly and from the sticks? Did she even go to college? Can she even read those documents?"
"She probably hasn't even seen a computer!"
The moment Margaret and William walked into the company together, these rumors came to an abrupt halt.
No one could believe such a beautiful and classy woman came from the countryside. Margaret's looks even made some city girls feel ashamed.
Of course, beauty not only brought praise but also jealousy and slander.
When Margaret went to the HR department to complete the paperwork, the four members of the secretarial department were busy gossiping about her.
"Margaret is so beautiful! She's even prettier than Lucy."
The head of the secretarial department, Ella Lewis, flashed a look of disdain and whispered, "What's the use of being pretty? Can a country bumpkin like her be worthy of Mr. Fisher?"
Margaret was never one to tolerate such rude words directed at her. She sneered. "Are you Mr. Fisher's fiancée?"
Ella's expression darkened, but she didn't dare to argue much with Margaret, given her status as William's fiancée. However, she secretly held a grudge.
To get back at Margaret, Ella assigned the most troublesome tasks to the so-called "newly hired Mrs. Fisher."
"Mr. Fisher said that since you're part of the secretarial department, you should be treated equally. This is an ad the Fisher Group is shooting today, and you're in charge," Ella said.
Seeing the smirk on Ella's face, Margaret knew there was something fishy about her task, and she was right.
Some colleagues who were kind to Margaret quietly warned her. "That Samuel is a notorious playboy. He often acts like a diva on set and nitpicks the staff. No one wants to take on his projects."
Margaret glanced at the ad shooting schedule. Samuel Hall? She raised an eyebrow. The name sounded familiar.
Meanwhile, in William's office, his assistant spoke up, "Sir, Ella assigned Samuel's shoot to Miss Scott today. Should we get someone else?"
Samuel's brother had been close friends with William since childhood, and William knew Samuel's bad temper well. Margaret was likely to be tormented by him.
William paused and then said, "No need."
He was quite looking forward to see Margaret being tormented; it was time to curb her arrogance.
The ad shoot was scheduled for 2 PM. Margaret and her team had the scene ready and were waiting outside the studio. It was scorching hot, everyone was sweating, and it was already 3:30 PM with no sign of Samuel.
A colleague grumbled, "This guy is never on time. Who knows when he'll show up this time."
Margaret asked sternly, "Is he always like this?"
The colleague whispered, "Samuel is a popular male star with over ten million followers online."
Margaret didn't respond.
Suddenly, a black Bentley glided to a stop in front of the studio. A strikingly handsome man stepped out, sunglasses shielding his eyes and an air of rebellious nonchalance about him.
The Fisher Group employees eagerly awaited the start of work.
Samuel’s voice cut through the air, dripping with arrogance. "Where's the red carpet? I specifically asked for a red carpet!"
This arrogant Samuel had an unwritten rule that he must be greeted with a red carpet at every set. Ella, well aware of this, had deliberately omitted the arrangement this time, hoping to catch Margaret off guard and embarrass her.
The ad director quickly chimed in, "Stagehands! Go get the red carpet for Samuel!"
Margaret frowned.
Samuel, sitting in the back seat of the car, mocked. "The service at the Fisher Group is deteriorating. One day, I'll have William fire all of you!"
Margaret couldn't stand this spoiled brat's arrogance any longer. She walked straight up, slapped Samuel's sunglasses off, and said what everyone else was too afraid to say, "Are you shooting or not? If not, get lost!"
Although the crew secretly cheered, they couldn't help but worry for Margaret.
Samuel, stung by the slap, erupted in anger. "Who does this little assistant think she is, laying hands on me—"
His fury faded as he turned to see Margaret. His expression instantly shifted to one of exaggerated enthusiasm. "Margaret! Is this a dream?"
Everyone was stunned. Did these two know each other?
"Margaret? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be traveling the world?" Samuel asked excitedly.
Margaret gave Samuel a patronizing pat on the head and forced a smile, "Long time no see. By the way, we didn't prepare a red carpet today. How about you step on my back to get out of the car, Mr. Hall?"
Samuel, frightened by this sarcastic remark, quickly got out of the car.
"No! I don't need anything. Without Miss Scott's company, I wouldn't even want to walk on a red carpet! Margaret, do you want something to drink? I'll get it for you," Samuel said eagerly.
Everyone was dumbfounded. Was this the same domineering Samuel they knew?
The change in Samuel's demeanor was perplexing. Could it be that Samuel was acting this way because Margaret was William's fiancée? But that didn't make sense; Samuel was arrogant even in front of William.
Margaret and Samuel had known each other for two years. When Samuel was seventeen and filming near Margaret's home, he got kidnapped, and she had heroically saved him. Watching her take down the kidnappers without a word, Samuel thought she was incredibly cool.
Then she took him to her grand estate, which amazed him even more. To Samuel, Margaret was the most impressive person ever!
