Chapter 5
Elano and Katherine took out the groceries they had bought and Katherine placed the groceries on the terrace of the house Elano was going to rent.
"When do you intend to come back? I'm not kicking you out but I just want to tell you that this place is not at all a good place for us to spend our old age especially for you who can still get a better life outside the city. This place is an uncomfortable place for you to live in for the rest of your life, for your sake just use all the things that are already in good friends so that no big mistakes happen."
Elano looked at Katherine's face who said that. He slightly saluted that this woman understood and cared about her surroundings. That made him smile and nod his head as Katherine looked at him.
"I will try to survive here since all my affairs and work are also unfinished. But I'll try not to sleep until it's hard to wake up, there are already drinks and food here so I won't starve either. I'll never leave the house unless it's important, don't worry because I won't make it hard for you even if I do."
"That's not the case, you've come and the first time people have looked at is with me. I'm not a great person but I know that if it's like this I will be easier to realize and explain whatever happened. So I'm asking you not to be here too long and to do your work quickly because if you don't get used to everything you'll move. Hopefully it will be suitable for now because I can see that you are a person who doesn't want to give up easily even though I also don't know how your real life is." Katherine said while observing the items making Elano sigh.
"I can be sure that I will endure, everything is not as perfect as I thought. There is no better place because even if I go to the word I also don't think I will be able to. But I hope I can because right now the project I'm holding is quite big and I can't just want to go home."
Katherine looked at Elano's face and made him obey everything Elano said. She was not at all afraid of what he had explained, which meant that what Elano was working on was something very important. This man was a businessman and still in the same country as her, she felt it would be unethical of her to forbid him because she had no right to.
"Are you going home?"
Katherine nodded. "I have to continue working," Katherine said with a smile. "You can stay in this house since you can cook the ingredients and rest as well. You're alone, so it'll be easier for you. There's a phone you can use in case of emergency, you should also buy a digital cell phone that you can use to contact some of the people here. After that, you can live a good life."
"Where can I buy the cell phone you said?"
"Since I gave you the jacket, it shouldn't be that far away. You can look for it while walking around here. Tonight if it's cold you can go and return home before midnight. You should be able to find it since there are several shops around here. If you want to get some more food you can buy it at night too. Because the temperature at night is cooler and won't make you overheat. That's much more helpful than having to buy it during the day."
Elano nodded in understanding and took out his cell phone. "How much did that cost me?"
"Ah, 700$."
Elano looked at him. "That cheap?"
"It's cheap here, because we get subsidized by the government. Then, you can transfer here."
Elano stared at a barcode there, a means of payment that was actually quite famous in their country but apparently not everyone around here used it. Around here, aka in this city, he didn't know how people would behave towards him because he rarely saw people passing by. He also didn't know how the interactions here would be, because he was in a hurry.
Only Katherine was open and willing to help him, the rest he found no one and this made him not unfamiliar.
"Can't I be friends with you and come to your house if I'm alone and free?"
Katherine smiled softly. "That's fine, my mom doesn't work at all. But I would probably spend a lot of time doing research and working. Perhaps my free time is my busy time, so if we don't meet you can talk to my mother."
Elano smiled and nodded in understanding. After that Katherine left him and boarded the flying car. Only 100 meters away, the girl arrived at her home, while Elano could only watch.
"I should have brought one of the servants and also my secretary. Ah, they should come because I won't be able to live alone. This place is too foreign for me and if I find someone I know then it will be easier."
Elano took out his cell phone and found that the signal here was very good, it was just that there were no more people using cell phones like the one he was currently using.
Dialing his assistant, Elano waited a little longer until the call was finally actually received.
Meanwhile, Katherine lay her body down tiredly. She didn't know how far to go with this, let alone for what was uncertain. Her research was stuck and she didn't know how to proceed because all the elements she studied couldn't be put together due to their different properties.
"If plastic is put together with metal they won't be able to fuse completely. I couldn't make everything come together just because I needed one strong material. I have to find another way because this will never work."
Katherine closed her eyes tiredly, she felt very tired with all her affairs and work. It seemed that if forced today she would not be able to concentrate either. She had to do a lot more definite things to open up a lot of opportunities, because only with this could she do everything in a good way.
"You should be able to, Katherine. Your intention has always been to help the poor people around here. If you succeed then it will be a proud achievement and your life will also be secured because you will be financed by the government due to their gratitude. At least you don't have to work too hard you can do and get whatever you want, you just have to get up and be enthusiastic about doing research."
It was the whisper of her brain that made everything easier to do. Only then would Katherine's spirit be boosted again, she had to really fight.
Right now playing and enjoying the time was not the right time, because what she had to accomplish was something related to the lives of many people.
"I will try my hardest, I must be able to find many things that are related. This is for the sake of many people and my own life, who knows when a natural disaster will come at any time. I must be able and do everything quickly, less than 6 months must be completed and I must be able to be one of the people who contribute creative ideas to build a house that can withstand all the threats of natural disasters that are common in this city."
Katherine finally fell asleep after a few moments of difficulty. Ever since she joined the team of volunteers and professors in the country, she had been struggling to sleep and had to say a few sentences like that just to keep her calm.
The night went quietly, everything seemed fine. However, the research center and disaster supervisors were the ones who rarely slept, they would come out to alert the people if they were ever threatened by a natural disaster.
Life in this city is very difficult but they have no way because they have nowhere else to go. So now they can only survive at least until they are able to deal with it with all kinds of modern technology that they have invented.
