McAdams sniggered and started a new topic. The day after tomorrow, the new mayor, Wade Sterling, throws a party. Which lady are you going to take with you?”
“The only son of the Sterling family?”
“Yes.” McAdams nodded, “The noblest family in the Federation.”
“I’ll bring the kitten with me,” Kenzo said. “Clean her up for me.”
McAdams pauses as he realizes that the kitten is Emerald. Then, rubbing his head, he responded, “Boss, the party is for celebrities. It seems inappropriate to bring Emerald, who is of a low origin, even from my point of view.”
“Good.” Kenzo smiled slightly. “I love inappropriate things.”
“Eternity” was a Galaxy with eight planets. Five of them had huge cities that were livable, forming a human federation. Zerg occupied the other three. Humans and Zergs have remained peaceful over the last ten years.
For over 100 years, the Sterling Family had remained the most powerful family in the Federation and greatly influenced the military force. Wade Sterling was the only child of Lucas Sterling, the current president of the Federation, making him the most promising young man in the Federation’s politics.
“Bring me to the party?” Emerald looked confused as the director’s assistant, McAdams, commanded the servants who were carrying dresses, jewelry, and makeup into her room.
“Yes.” McAdams looks at her with a smile. “All at the expense of the Federation, Ms. Wilson. Please feel free to enjoy yourself.”
Although Emerald had been low-spirited over the last few days, she had warmth for this young and handsome-looking man’s words.
“Can you do the makeup by yourself?” McAdams stared at her pale face.
“Yes.”
Nodding his head, McAdams turned around to the door. After taking a few steps, he stopped.
Rumor had it that the army’s merchant’s son, once a medical student, loved to abuse young boys and use them for vivisection.
It was hard for McAdams to compare the quiet and thin Emerald in front of him with the torn-apart dead body sent from Wade Sterling’s house recently.
“Ms. Wilson. I will be back in a moment.” He said as he stared at her quiet and discreet face. “You’re beautiful. Please enjoy the party.”
Watching McAdams disappear at the door, Emerald felt shrouded by insecurity.
McAdams’ hesitation and sympathy made her foresee her ending right after the party.
A disastrous ending.
One hour later, as Emerald was getting ready, she stood rigidly in high heels in front of the mirror and stared blankly at her own reflection.
As a national defense-oriented student, Emerald seldom wore such elegant evening gowns.
Perhaps being on the run for so long had made her somewhat inattentive. Looking at the girl in the long dress and soft ebony hair in the mirror, the blue and shiny jewelry and light makeup brightened her dim face.
The door behind her opened.
“Do I look okay?” She asked, expecting to see McAdams, as she turned around and continued in a low voice. “For the last party in my life.”
But to her surprise, she met a pair of black eyes.
Lowering her head, she said. “My lord, you are here.”
Kenzo paused.
After his inauguration in Hope City, he had seen many beautiful, tender, attractive women. But, for some reason, the sad or even a little self-mockery expression on her face made him realize that it was the first time a woman had ever shown such an expression in front of him.
A light but restrained sadness.
She stood gracefully in front of him, trying to please him. Subconsciously grabbing her red dress by the hemline, the long strapless dress and shiny jewelry made her seem delicate with a slight jade of embellishing luster in her face.
It seemed as if the kitten had not always been as thin and docile. Sometimes quietness and desperateness beautify a woman, he pondered.
“DO NOT try to escape from the mayor’s party.” Kenzo sat sharply on the sofa.
Emerald stood there quietly.
She turned around to look at Kenzo, stepping up slowly, just like the other night, petty and low.
She sat on her heels between his legs, her long red dress spreading on the floor.
He didn’t say a word. Instead, he simply stared at her with his black eyes motionless.
“Escape...I never thought of that.” She looked up at him like a docile pet. “My lord, please keep me around you.”
Kenzo looked down at the kitten-like girl who curled up to his feet. Her black hair was like silk, and her thin waist appeared fragile. Her small face and sparkling eyes had a light of sorrow and brightness.
“Keep you for what?” He remained indifferent. “You don’t even know how to please a man.”
Emerald was silent for a moment.
Suddenly, with a slight, humble, and obedient smile, she raises her hand, stretching out to him. He didn’t reject her; just stared at her as she unbuttoned his pants.
“I can learn....learn to please you, my lord.” She whispered and touched his manhood with her cold hand. She opened her mouth and slowly started to tease him with her tongue, then took it all in with difficulty.
Kenzo had always felt a repulsion toward a woman’s calculated move. But she was so sentimental... her naive behavior..... her tongue licking his manhood... filled him with pure excitement, making him feel indulged and thirsty.
Without giving her a response, he looked down at her. She was just like his devout disciple worshipping her Lord, softly and sorrowfully.
There was a pool of emerald water in the scented open garden, making the silver lights on the trees gentler and brighter.
A handsome young man dressed in a dark gray suit was standing under the trees, holding a glass of wine and smiling kindly. Every distinguished guest went to shake hands with him, and the journalists kept shooting photos of every move of their friendly new mayor.
Wade Sterling always stood out among the crowds concerning his strong family background and upright and forceful qualities. He was born into a political family yet had spent eight years in the army. Yet, instead of being arrogant and dull like most politicians, he was like a deep, clear lake, pure and firm.
Wade Sterling was looking at the guests without saying anything. He knew that the most important guest had not arrived yet.
Twenty minutes after the party had started, a man dressed in a black suit and black shirt stepped into the garden, accompanied by a thin woman, making all the guests turn into silence.
Wade Sterling also raises his head to look at the man who was said to control the city.
