Chapter 2 A Hefty Reward for Finding Someone
In Zelphoria, in this swanky villa, the Vanderbilt Family was having some big international pow-wow. Alexander Vanderbilt was at the head of the table, looking all boss-like without even trying.
Alexander had lived quite the life, and his six grandsons were all hotshots in their fields. But there was one thing that bugged him—his granddaughter, Savannah Vanderbilt, had been MIA for 18 years.
"Grandpa, we ain't giving up. We'll find Savannah, no doubt!" piped up Edward, the third Vanderbilt son.
Just then, a pudgy guy came barreling in, clutching a stack of papers, and gasped, "Mr. Alexander Vanderbilt! We found her!" That was George Davis, the family's top assistant.
Alexander perked up, his hands even shaking a bit. "Where is she? Spill it!"
George handed over the papers. "She's in Eldoria; we're still nailing down the exact spot."
Without missing a beat, Alexander barked, "We're heading to Eldoria right now!"
Over at the Sunnybrook Apartments, Adeline was at home. She watched Daniel leave after a quick chat, then pulled out her keys and unlocked the old door. No one would guess that inside this rundown place was pure luxury.
Bookshelves packed with rare editions, more impressive than any library.
Adeline moved a potion on the shelf, and the room lit up instantly.
"Ms. Vanderbilt, welcome home," said the room's suave, gentlemanly AI.
"Ms. Vanderbilt, you have some tasks to handle," the system chimed in again.
Adeline rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit exasperated. She hadn't been home in ages and was already being put to work.
With a flick of her finger, task info popped up in front of her via AR: [The Livingston family is looking for top doctors, offering a cool million for a week-long consultation at the Caesar Hotel.]
The head of the Livingston family had been sick for years with no improvement. This consultation was a big deal, but the illness details were vague, just saying it wasn't for public disclosure. Seemed like a tricky situation.
Adeline picked up a nearby trinket and fiddled with it for a few minutes. "I'll take this gig," she said.
The system, hearing her command, sent off a reply and started showing the task order.
A big line of text flashed on the screen: [The richest man in Zelphoria offers a huge reward for finding someone in Eldoria.]
