CHAPTER FOUR
Walking down that corridor again nearly drove me to tears, especially now that I was quite sure everyone but the makeup artist had left the building. When he was busy redoing everything, they all walked out, giving me the middle finger and all sorts of hostilities but never coming too close to me.
Yea, I got the feeling of hatred they were trying to portray, quite alright, I just wasn't going to engage in it. I barely escaped with my life and sanity intact, I wasn't going to make it worse.
So as I walked down these same corridors, I felt a pang of sadness. Today has indeed been the absolute worst.
When I got closer to the bidding room, I could hear murmurs and discussions, some happy and others annoyed.
When I opened the curtain a little bit, I got a glimpse of where my life was about to be traded for money that no one even wanted except some lowlifes who thought it was okay to rape a girl who was already headed for a life of pain.
âFinally, you kept us waiting. Now, come over here, let's get this done quickly!â Someone with a Mic said to me, his voice carrying over to where I stood awkwardly.
My clothes weren't as revealing this time and it gave me a little bit of comfort. I wished I could thank the ABC that rescued me but I guess that wasn't going to be possible so I walked down to the front of the red themed stage.
Wait..
Was that him? He was actually a part of this whole thing yet he decided to save me, what was it to him?
This became awkward quickly but I couldn't focus on my conflicting emotions as I began hearing loud chants and noise from the small crowd that was remaining. Empty seats suggested whoever got a girl simply took her home and these ones were waiting for the last person which happened to be me.
I wasn't lacking in the physical department which I hated so much living in a world that treated women like kitchen utensils.
âGentlemen, let's settle down please. If we could calm down so one person can say what you all are trying to say?â The mic guy said, trying to calm down the ruckus.
Out there, they all acted prim and proper but here they were acting like they were in a disorganized riot, quite disappointing. I stood my ground as I began looking at each of them one after the other and to my surprise, I recognized another face.
Who knew that in just a matter of an hour or two of him stopping that riffraff XYZ from totaling our car and getting away with it, I would have nearly been SAâd and rescued by none other than one of their own? I accessed his calm, demure posture as he lounged on a special chair he was provided with and if I didn't hate them so much, I'd admit he looked quite handsome, complimented by his blonde hair that he swept a few of it away from his eyes every few moments.
Anyways, he was one of the very few calm individuals in the room. If you ask me, Moderates are the only ones enjoying this planet, they get to just do whatever they want including acting like a group of little kids.
The MC tried about three more times to calm them down with no results before the ABC I had met earlier raised his hand and just like that, everywhere became silent.
Power was a crazy thing.
âPlease, Sir Charles, kindly tell us what the problem is. You know we don't have advanced hearing like you, my lords,â the MC beseeched, sounding like a pauper begging for bread. I hated it when they did that but I guess no one really had a choice.
I just never really interacted with them before today to understand why.
âFirst of all, I want to know why she's looking like she is just waking up from the dead. We are doing her and her family as well as this forsaken planet a favor and the least she could do is smile. We literally waited here, wasting precious working and useful hours and she comes out looking like she'd rather be in a coffin!â The man spat at me, rage coloring his face.
âYes. If she can't show us her teeth, then she should show us her tits! Hahahaha,â someone replied from his back, throwing the room into an uproar of laughs and claps on the back and me in a turmoil of emotions, prominent amongst them all, anger.
They did this to us, took our entire life, educational system, infrastructure, social life and every advancement we've made, turned it either into theirs or a caricature of what it had always been and now, at this despicable event, they demand that I be happy?
To add to that, I was sexually harassed and nearly killed a man, there was no smile in my arsenal and if they couldn't deal with that, well, they can send me to the Red Door, so I can be sent to the farms to work my ass for life instead of this show of shame.
âMiss, you have to obey them. It's just a smile so we can get this done with.â The MC said, probably tired from all the screams he's had to do tonight.
But I couldn't, in fact, it was all I could do not to break down in tears. I hardly cried but when I did, it was gut wrenching and came at the most unexpected moment. I shook my head, trying to convey how sad I felt to him.
Someone coughed and the room quieted, not as quickly as the last time when the blonde haired Greek god alien did his own but still effective.
âGuys, I think we should cut her a break. This is the last of them and like Charles here said, we've got things to do and little time to waste.â
I was relieved but I think the
âThank you Master.â he said in an excited tone and ran to his podium, his gavel in hand as he commenced my sale. It was difficult not to hate myself right now.
âGents, we have here a Jamaican and Caucasian breed mix, female, fluent in three languages, blonde hair and mildly intelligent female up for grabs. She has been properly tested and considered very fertile by the best doctors and is ready for consumption. A catch to this one is that she's a virginâ he began and I heard murmurs from the crowd, probably discussing me like I wasn't standing right there in front of them.
I felt invisible, like this was a nightmare and I, an unwilling participant.
âBid is starting from a hundred thousand dollars!â And all hands went up, including the two men that I had encountered today.
