Your Name... Tell me

I could feel his eyes on me despite my eagerness to focus on my work and forget what happened last night.

That handsome stranger went into the bar where I was working and he wasn’t alone. I wondered if he would remember me. If he would recognize me once our eyes met.

The thunderous beating of my heart and the electrifying feeling on my skin made it hard not to shoot a few glances at him. He and his small company were already having a good time over their beers and whiskies.

They seemed to be celebrating something. A good hunt? Feasting and drinking for the upcoming full moon? I didn’t know why I suddenly got interested, though. I heard werewolves were nasty creatures, enjoying violence like sports and killing their prey in packs. Not that I was scared of them, though.

I served many werewolves in this bar and so far, they were the ones unlikely to start trouble. They like throwing people nasty glares but they won’t hurt you if you don’t provoke them.

They were dangerous. And yet there was beauty in them that I couldn’t explain.

Especially the man who scared the Maverick away. He didn’t give me his name and my wolf was itching for me to ask for it. I won’t do it, though. I would never want him to think I was interested in him. And yet, I couldn't help it. His stare was setting me on fire. And I was burning with the desire to talk to him. Know his name. I will never forget how he saved me. I wanted to ask how he met my father but maybe some other time…

The other customers were wary and I couldn’t blame them. He and his pack were giving out a powerful presence inside this small, old, and musty bar where I was working. He and his pack of handsome and beautiful werewolves attract the attention of the customers so much that even my boss was starting to get worried if this bar would survive without any of these men destroying his precious place.

“Naika is getting good at running. She almost outran Briar when he failed to lunge to that huge stag!” said the one with a thick beard and the shortest of them. He raised his glass of beer to the blonde woman, who must be Naika.

“Shut up, Karl, It was Gram! She pushed me aside before I could get a hold of that fine beast.” It was Briar, the tall, muscular guy with a long scar on his right face.

The guy he called Gram, the man with dark hair wearing a brown jacket, just chuckled silently as he made a small swig on his glass of whisky.

Naika, Briar, Karl, Gram, and one woman who was named Laika. She and that Naika must be twins. They look so much alike, even when I was secretly looking at them from one of the corners of the room while serving drinks to the newly arrived customers.

My breath was ragged. Uneven.

His name. I wanted to know his name…

As if answering my prayer, the bearded guy called Karl spoke again: “Gddmnit, another win for Alpha Bellamy! Cheers to our Alpha, who just won’t make everything easy for us during the annual hunting season.”

“Such a savage.” The other twin, Laika, smirked and then pushed a glass of another shot of whiskey to him. To Bellamy.

Bellamy. His name echoed in my head. And he was not just a werewolf. He is the Alpha of his pack.

As I brought the list of orders to the kitchen from table eight, I made another glance at him and was taken aback when our eyes met. Those piercing, sultry amber eyes reached the depths of my soul. As if he wanted to read what I was thinking. Our eyes locked in a feeling that seemed like eternity.

It was me who broke that spell-binding gaze. I shook my head gently, hiding my face from his curious eyes. My breath was unsteady as my chest tightened. I didn’t know why I was having this funny, fluttery feeling. Goddess, I hated it. I should snap myself out of it!

I wiped my wet hands on my apron and secretly smiled. Bellamy. I didn’t know why his name sounded so good to my ears.

“What am I even doing?” I hissed, castigating myself, and started working again.

Alpha Bellamy and his pack enjoyed the drinks and food the bar offered. I had to ignore the rioting feeling in my chest for hours, and it was more agonizing than I had anticipated. I felt his searing stare on me from time to time.

I bit my lower lip hard.

I had to focus on my job or I would end up sleeping on the streets. After this shift, I expected my boss would pay me and that would all go to my rent. I had to figure out how I would deal with the rest of my expenses. At least I would still have a roof above my head and scrapes from this darn place to eat.

I could tell that he was a good Alpha based on how loud and happy his pack was. Especially that gruff, bearded small guy whose laugh echoed throughout the bar that made the other customers raise a brow at them, but wise and careful enough not to make any eye contact with the werewolves.

It was almost midnight and the customers were leaving one by one until Alpha Bellamy and his pack were the only ones left. All of them had huge grins on their faces and the Karl guy was so drunk he passed out on the table.

“Looks like you are the one to carry Karl this time.” Briar threw an arm around Gram’s shoulders and Gram just snorted in retort.

No. Don’t look at him. Don’t you dare look at him!

I heard footsteps coming in my direction and when my feelings betrayed my mind, I lifted my chin to meet Alpha Bellamy’s gaze as he slowly walked towards me with his hands slipped in the pockets of his dark jeans.

“Sorry for the trouble. My pack is just celebrating the hunting season this year. We probably caused a lot of noise for the other customers.” He gave me a short, apologetic smile.

I fought my hardest not to bite my lower lip in front of him and I smiled at him over my steely, wary face. “No worries. We get that a lot during this season. Others must know that it’s a kind of occasion that all of you werewolves celebrate and enjoy.”

“Good….” His words hang as if waiting for me to tell me his name and I look at him, his eyes gentle and patient.

Goddess, should I entertain this weird feeling in my chest? “Alice. My name is Alice.” I swallowed hard and then averted my eyes from him. Why was I so nervous in front of this handsome stranger?

‘Alice.” Bellamy’s low, hoarse voice made my stomach tighten. “Beautiful name...”

“Bellamy! Are you coming or what?!” the she-wolf, Naika yelled at her Alpha and Bellamy was so focused on my anxious face that he didn’t give the woman a single glance. His eyes were glued to me as if memorizing every detail and every angle of my face and I realized I was holding my breath while gazing back at his brutally handsome face.

He was leaning so close to me. So close that I couldn't take my eyes off him.
