About Her and Him
“You can occupy this table from now on, Ms. Guinn. I hope you like it.”
Theo guided Lillianne again as soon as they left Blaze's room. He pointed to a table located right in front of the entrance to the CEO's room.
The assistant looked around to make sure no one was watching them. Then he whispered, "Is there anything else I can help you with, Your Majesty?"
"Leander... is he married?" Lillianne answered him with something unexpected. It had been bothering her for the past few days, which was reinforced when she saw his office. "Who is the woman with him in those frames? I even saw a kid."
Lillianne couldn't hold back the jealousy in her heart again. It felt so annoying to imagine that there was another woman in his life amid her struggles to reunite with him again all this time.
"Forgive me, Your Majesty, but... is Leander you mean Mr. Davies? I want to be sure."
“Ye--“
"Good morning, Mr. Greg."
Their conversation was interrupted when two female employees suddenly greeted the assistant. It broke their secret conversation, especially when Theo flashed them a friendly smile.
"Morning, Ms. Hudgens, Ms. Caleb. Both of you look very fresh today." Theo greeted them back in a very charismatic manner. "Anyway, please say hello to Ms. Guinn. She is Mr. Davies' new secretary, replacing Ms. Dante."
To be honest, Lillianne hated small talk with humans. Even though she has lived and mingled with them for centuries, she has never gotten used to them. She always tried not to get too involved with them.
However, she knew that the only way to smooth things over was to get along with them from now on. She planned to stay here for quite a long time. She might also need them to carry out her mission later.
"Hello, my name is Lillianne Guinn. Nice to meet you," she said, giving a fake smile as best she could.
"Nice to meet you too, Ms. Guinn." The woman with shoulder-length black hair answered. "Anyway, my name is Anna Dante. I am the secretary of the Chief Financial Officer. My desk is over there."
"I am Melanie Hudgens. I am the secretary of the CMO. You can see my place clearly from here. It's over there," said the blonde shortly afterward, pointing to her work desk which was located about twenty meters away.
'So, I will probably see them every day. I hope they won't bother me too much. I have a feeling they are too chatty and noisy like most humans.'
"Well, it looks like we will be meeting frequently from now on. I hope we can get along well. I ask for your guidance," Liliianne said the opposite instead, still maintaining her fake smile.
"Of course. We will get along well. You can ask us anytime, right Anna?" the blonde elbowed her friend.
“Sure. Anything, anytime."
The two women finally left after some additional chit-chat. Lillianne and Theodoros' friendly facial expressions quickly changed to dull again after that.
"It's too noisy here, Your Majesty. If you don't mind, why don't you come with me to my room instead? Nobody will bother us there. I was also assigned by Mr. Davies to instruct you before the meeting this afternoon so that we can have a proper discussion without worry about anything."
"Okay."
There was a small room located right next to Blaze's room. That was the place specifically for the leader's assistant. The two demons disguised as human beings entered it.
"But, Can I trust you?" Lillianne immediately countered him with that question when they arrived in the room. "May I know why of all places you chose to settle here? You said you have worked here for three years. I am curious why you are doing that," she added.
"I feel quite comfortable here, Your Majesty. For me having a job like this is more fun than just wandering around doing nothing. It's also not boring here -- at least for now."
"Not because you have other intentions? I mean... things related to Leander?" Lillianne narrowed her eyes, still wanting to test this man.
"As I said before, I am just a vagabond werewolf who doesn't have a clan or habitat. I don't even know who Leander is so that's why I asked you before," answered Theo confidently.
Lillianne studied him more closely. She had to make sure that the man wasn't lying or hiding anything from her.
She was satisfied with what she had seen so far. Even though it was the first time they met, she could feel that Theodoros was true to his words. The confident look in his eyes made her sure of that.
"Well, then, to be honest, I don't really trust you yet, but I am going to reveal it because like it or not, you have already been involved in this. I also order you to help me since you are one of my people." Lillianne finally said after weighing it for a few minutes. “You guessed it right. Leander is Blaze Davies. He is the reincarnation of the mate I've been waiting for centuries. So, that's why I am following him here."
Theo slightly widened his eyes. He looked in disbelief. "If he is a werewolf who can be reincarnated then does that mean he is a former purebred Alpha king who was killed unjustly?”
"That's right. He was the original alpha king who was killed about 700 years ago. You weren't even born when that happened, right?" Lillianne grinned slightly before continuing, "I failed to protect him in his two previous lives. But, I now swear that this time will different. I will save him from any danger and I will restore him to his position. So that, I can stay with him until eternity." Her eyes flashed with determination as she said that.
Theodoros seemed doubtful. He realized that it was a very risky task because it meant he would challenge the current alpha king -- Zephyr.
"Why? Are you scared? Want to back off?" Lillianne's eyes suddenly turned silver. Even though she was still in human form, one of her hands had become hairy. Her sharp paws were then shown to intimidate the assistant. "Then I have no choice but to kill you so as not to hinder my plans."
"Apologize, Your Majesty. Please spare my life." Theo immediately lowered his head in submission. “I don't mean to go against you, Your Majesty. I just need to reflect on this first.”
"And I am not giving you time for that. It's now or never. State your side in this matter!"
"I side with you, Your Majesty."
"Really? Don't try to trick me."
"Please believe me, Your Majesty." Theodoros raised his face to look at the Luna so she could see his sincerity. "Forgive my doubts, Your Majesty. However, I swear that I will side with you. I will protect you and Mr. Bla-- I mean King Leander until he return to his position. So, please accept my intention, Your Majesty. I swear in the name of my late parents."
Lillianne chose to listen to his further explanation.
"You can trust me, Your Majesty. I will do whatever I can to serve you, even if it might mean I have to go against the alpha king. Please accept my devotion," he added.
“Well, I don't really trust you yet but I will give you a chance." Lillianne led him further into the room, taking the sofa there. "Now tell me about anything you know about Blaze Davies. I want to know every single thing about him."
"Your lips are so soft. I will never get sick of them."
Blaze remembered whispering that to Lillianne that night after a long kiss between them. It was only a few minutes before he gave up his defenses and succumbed to her charms.
"You too, Leander..." She whispered back, touching his lips with her fingertips. "I love your lips too. You have no idea how much I miss touching them like this again after all these years."
Even though Blaze finally gave in to her temptation, to be honest, he still didn't understand most of the words the woman said, just like how she kept calling him names that weren't his.
However, he ignored all of that again. Instead of thinking about unnecessary things, he preferred to focus on that unusual moment for him, who had been lonely for a long time. He was increasingly coaxed by the most beautiful woman he had ever met.
They kissed deeper and became more passionate about each other throughout the night.
‘Damn, why do I keep remembering that dream even after everything that happened? What is wrong with me?’
Blaze scolded himself for the umpteenth time when that memory interrupted him again. He sighed while touching his temple.
It felt very bothering. Even now Blaze still can't believe how could a coincidence like this happen. How could a woman he met abroad just a few days ago suddenly apply to his office to become his secretary? It just seemed too illogical.
'So what? Damn it, Blaze, you are not a teenager anymore. You shouldn't care too much about trivial things like this. This is nothing.'
Nevertheless, the problem was that everything about this woman kept bothering him from the start. Blaze himself never understood why he paid so much attention to her even at the first meeting so he ended up having wet dreams about her. It was something that had never happened before.
'I just need to forget it. Don't be stupid, Blaze.'
That was when his eyes caught one of the frames on his desk. He met eyes with the beautiful face of Rhea Harrison, his late wife, who smiled brightly in her wedding dress at the camera. Beside her was himself as the groom smiling happily while holding her hand tightly.
'I have to wake up. I can't do this to Rhea... and Evelyn. She is not that important anyway. She will probably leave this company again in a few days.'
Blaze shrugged, dismissed the thought, and then focused his attention on his work again.
Yet, not too long after, the memory came back to him. Blaze sighed as he hit his head lightly.
'Get your sh*t together, dammit!'
