Meet Evelyn Davies
The meeting ended after about 90 minutes. Both parties have obtained the agreement they want. Everyone seemed satisfied with that.
"That was such a delicious and enjoyable lunch, Mr. Davies. Thank you for inviting us." Mr Jake Bolton led his group before leaving the place with final pleasantries. He shook hands with the CEO of Pageant Corp again.
"My pleasure, Mr. Bolton. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us."
Jake Bolton greeted Lillianne after that. He was so consistent with his signature flirtatious smile that it was starting to feel disgusting to her. The man reached out for a handshake. Even though she was a little reluctant, Lillianne received it.
"You also did a good job today, Ms. Guinn. It was a pleasure to meet and work with you," he said later.
"I feel more happy and lucky to work with you, sir."
The man, who was physically around a dozen years older than her, deliberately held her hand for a long time. Lillianne even felt how he squeezed it a little lewdly. She was getting more disgusted. Not only did she want to let go of it, she wanted to rip his arm apart from his shoulder, but she still had to behave well.
Especially, since she realized how Blaze was watching it. Even though he had been trying to put on a poker face since earlier, Lillianne felt that the man was paying more attention to her because of that. Lillianne was so confident that it was his jealousy. It made her over the moon.
It looked like there was still some shame left for Jake Bolton. After almost two minutes of holding her hand, he finally let go. He then just laughed stupidly to lighten the mood which had become strange because of him.
"Well, we have to go now. Let's stay connected to talk about this project. See you at the next meeting, Mr. Davies."
The man and the three people with him finally left. Lillianne could feel the tension in her team finally lighten after that.
"As a secretary you have to know your limits, Ms. Guinn. You will only continue to be harassed by clients if you act like that."
Blaze suddenly spoke without looking back at her. He sat on the chair again and sipped the rest of his hot Americano.
'Look at you, Leander. You are feeling jealous, aren't you? There is no need to play cool like that.'
"Is that so wrong, sir?" Lillianne pretended to be stupid as she sat back down. "I don't mean anything but that this deal runs smoothly. Isn't being friendly to clients one of the basic manners for us?"
"Being friendly and flirty are different things." Lillianne was a little stunned. She didn't expect to hear such harsh words from the boss. "That could ruin the project. Mr. Bolton seems very interested in you. I am afraid he might do something reckless next, maybe ask for your cell phone number or even try to seduce you. That's not good at all for this project."
"Then I will reject him--"
"It's not that easy either. If he gets offended by you, he could abruptly withdraw from this agreement."
"Then what should I do, sir?"
Instead of responding, the man finally glanced at her for the first time. Lillianne swallowed hard when that sharp gaze hit her. It evoked a system-wide reaction in her body. This man always gave her the most splendid effect ever.
"Should I teach you that too? You said you were an experienced secretary, so you should have known. Are you lying about your CV or what?"
She was a little annoyed by his sharp remark, but she still held it in for the sake of her plan. Upsetting Blaze would make things difficult for her.
"Don't worry, sir. That won't happen. I promise to behave as best as I can so as not to cause any unwanted accidents during this project. Of course, also to avoid offending him."
"I hope you mean it. Despite his image as a successful businessman, Jake Bolton is also famous for his bad record with women. He became too bold because his wife never nitpicked him about it. Although, she would look for women who she believed were flirting with her husband and causing problems with them. Don't let that happen to you."
Blaze immediately stood up again after saying that. "We are done here. Let's go back to the office," he said before leading the way.
Lillianne was still frowning in annoyance. She glanced at Theo who was just a bystander of their conversation. The man then politely asked her to leave with them.
'Even though I love him, I still think that Blaze Davies is the most annoying reincarnation of Leander. He doesn't even know how to say anything better.' Liliianne grumbled while following the men behind. 'But I do feel that Jake Bolton is quite useful for my plans. I am sure Blaze is angry not only because of the project, but also because of jealousy. He also seems to really want to do well with this, so I need to let that hag live for now. I will eliminate him if he is getting unbearable later.'
When they arrived in the lobby to get the waiting car, suddenly Blaze's cell phone rang. Liliianne noticed his expression change immediately while checking the screen. He then quickly picked it up.
"Hello, Mrs. Jacob, how is it going? Evelyn didn't make any trouble, did she?"
'Evelyn? I seem to have heard that name before. Where is it?' Lillianne's eyes widened as her brain found the answer to that question. 'That's right. She is his daughter with that human woman.'
Blaze's expression looked even more serious after hearing the caller's words. He looked concerned.
"Please wait for me, Mrs. Jacob. I'll be there soon." Blaze hung up the phone, glancing at the two subordinates who were patiently waiting for him. "You guys call a cab to return to Pageant. I need to take the car with me."
Theo Greg answered quickly. "Alright, sir! We will do that. Is Miss Evelyn okay?"
"I will only know when I see her."
Blaze didn't say anything to Lillianne, though. He only glanced at her briefly before rushing into his car. The vehicle immediately sped away from there.
"Let's follow him," Lillianne said as she approached Theo. "I am curious to see his beloved daughter."
"Yes, Your Majesty. Oh, there is a taxi. Let's go."
Honestly, Lillianne wanted to change into a wolf form to follow him secretly, but the problem was that Theo wouldn't be able to come with her. He was just a werewolf with basic abilities. He can't change shape at will but has to wait for the full moon.
She was forced to take a taxi and follow Blaze slowly like an ordinary human.
The distance Blaze traveled was less than one kilometer. He then stopped at a building. Theo confirmed that it was his daughter's school.
"What is he doing here? He looked worried earlier," asked Lillianne, looking warily towards the gate. Since they didn't have access, they just waited for him outside. They also have to be careful so as not to be caught by the boss.
"Evelyn Davies was born weak, Your Majesty. It seems that this is a result of her premature birth that took her mother's life. That's why Mr. Davies has had to take extra care of her," answered the vagabond werewolf.
"She has the blood of an Alpha king in her body, how could she be that weak? Even a normal werewolf bloodline should make his genes superior to other humans, though."
She smelled Blaze's scent again after that. The scent was getting stronger, which meant he was getting closer. Sure enough, the man suddenly came out again. He had a little girl with him.
'Is that her?'
Lillianne looked at them sharply. It was crazy how even a child made her jealous again. It reminded her about Leander and his human lover.
However, there was something else that seemed to concern Liliianne. Her eyes looked very sharp looking at the baby girl.
"As I thought..." She muttered, catching Theodoros' attention again. "She is not his biological daughter. I don't see even a single drop of Leander’s blood in her body.”
Theodoros widened his eyes in shock. “W-What?”
