Chapter 3 Michael Opened His Eyes
Anthony froze for a sec. Was this really the same Elizabeth he knew?
Elizabeth used to be all sweet and obedient, always going along with whatever he said. She'd never give him that kind of look.
Did she find out something?
Anthony felt a pang of guilt and couldn't meet her eyes.
He glanced behind her and suddenly his eyes went wide, like he'd seen a ghost.
"Michael," he blurted out.
Elizabeth spun around.
On the bed, Michael had somehow opened his eyes.
Under the crystal chandelier, Michael's eyes looked like deep, dangerous gemstones.
It sent shivers down Anthony's spine.
His face went pale with fear, and he took a few steps back. "Elizabeth, it's getting late. I won't bother you and Michael anymore!"
Anthony bolted out of the master bedroom like he was being chased by a ghost.
Elizabeth watched him flee in a panic, then turned to look at Michael lying quietly on the bed.
Was Michael awake?
Wasn't he supposed to be on death's door?
Elizabeth hurriedly shouted downstairs, "Susan, Michael's awake! He opened his eyes!"
Susan heard the call and quickly came upstairs.
She looked at Michael on the bed.
With a sigh, she shook her head helplessly.
"Mrs. Thomas, Mr. Thomas opens his eyes every day. This doesn't mean he's truly awake. You see, we're talking now, and he has no reaction at all," Susan sighed. "The doctor said that for someone in Mr. Thomas's condition, the chances of waking up are very low."
After seeing Susan off, Elizabeth washed up, changed into her pajamas, and got into bed.
Elizabeth sat on the bed, looking at Michael's handsome face beside her.
His cold demeanor seemed innate, like he was born to be a king. Because he was lying down, his collar was slightly open, and from Elizabeth's angle, she could just see half of his collarbone.
Elizabeth stared quietly at his handsome face, "Michael, can you hear me?"
Michael lay on the bed with his eyes tightly closed, showing no reaction.
Elizabeth thought of her own mess, then looked at the unconscious Michael, which made her brood on his bad luck.
Michael had suffered a terrible car accident and was in a coma.
Elizabeth suddenly felt that she wasn't so unlucky after all.
"Michael, you need to wake up soon. If you don't, that jerk Anthony will take all your money and your company. By then, what can we do?" Elizabeth lay down beside him, and after a long time, she heard herself sigh.
For now, even though Michael was in a coma, he was still breathing.
She was the current Mrs. Thomas, so no one would dare to mess with her for the time being.
But what if he really died? What would she do then?
How would the Thomas Family and the Jones Family treat her?
Her future seemed bleak.
So, she had to use her status as Mrs. Thomas to reclaim everything she had lost before he died!
She would make everyone who bullied her pay for what they had done!
The next morning at eight sharp.
Susan took Elizabeth to the Thomas Villa to visit Mary.
Mary surveyed Elizabeth, growing more satisfied the more she looked. Elizabeth seemed to be a pushover.
Mary handed her a purple box, "Elizabeth, this is a little gift from me. Please accept it."
Elizabeth didn't dare refuse Mary's kindness and immediately accepted it, "Thank you."
"Elizabeth, I know how misfortunate for a woman to marry a dying man. After all, everthing is happening," Mary said, glancing at Elizabeth and revealing her thoughts. "Michael doesn't seem to have much time left. He was always busy with work and never even had a relationship, let alone left a child in this world."
Hearing this, Elizabeth twisted her sleeves tightly.
Could it be that Mary wanted her to have a child with Michael?
But Michael was in a coma.
How could they have a child?
She hoped they wouldn't make her sleep with another man.
If that were the case, she would rather die!
"I want you to have a child with Michael to continue his bloodline," Mary said.
Mary's words left everyone present in surprise..
"Mom, Michael is in a coma. How can he have a child with Elizabeth? Are you out of your mind?" Michael's older brother, William Thomas, spoke up.
Michael wasn't even dead yet, and these people were already eyeing his property.
Mary laughed, "Don't worry. Michael has such a large estate, he needs to have his own child to inherit it. I've already made arrangements."
All eyes immediately turned to Elizabeth.
She felt immense pressure.
"Elizabeth, you're still in school, right? If you get pregnant now, it will definitely affect your studies," William's wife, Karen Martinez, said.
William agreed, "Yes! Elizabeth is still so young. She probably doesn't want to give up her studies to stay home and have a child!"
Mary, of course, knew what William and Karen were thinking, which was why she insisted on continuing Michael's bloodline.
"Elizabeth, are you willing to have a child with Michael?" Mary asked her bluntly. "You should know that you and Michael's child will inherit Michael's estate in the future. His estate is enough to provide you and the child with a comfortable life."
Elizabeth didn't hesitate, "Yes, I do."
If she could stop Anthony from taking Michael's estate, she was willing to try.
Besides, it seemed to leave her no choice.
Hearing her answer, Mary smiled with satisfaction, "Good, I knew you are different from those foolish women outside!"
Afterward, Elizabeth left the Thomas Villa and prepared to return to Michael's mansion.
On the way, she was unexpectedly stopped by Anthony.
Just thinking about Anthony's betrayal made Elizabeth sick.
She didn't want to deal with him at all.
