Little Spoon

ARIANA

Someone was continuously knocking on my bedroom door. At first, I decided to ignore it. Then I remembered that I was not living at my mother's home. Groaning in my sleepiness, I kicked the warmth of the blanket off of me. I crawled out of the bed and cursed under my breath when my eyes fell on the clock that had ticked five in the early morning. Even the sun hadn't started to show its colors in the sky. And someone was bothering me.

I opened the door, a slightest creek to see who it was. I was surprised to see Marie standing in front of my bedroom door with a nervous smile on her face that made me blink a few times. “What are you doing here, at this hour, Marie?” I asked, yawning in her face. I went to bed earlier but I couldn't sleep until way after midnight.

She leaned closer, as if wanting to whisper. “It's 5 o'clock in the morning. Master has some important meetings lined up today. But he hasn't woken up. I was thinking, if you would go and wake him up please.” Marie was whispering to me, her words were pleading.

“Oh! Yeah! Okay, I'll wake him up. Don't worry about it.” I replied in a sleepy tone as I looked at the clock again. Just as Marie turned, I realized something.

“I'm sorry, but why can't you wake him up? I can't quite catch your reason.” I asked Marie rather calmly. It looked to me like she had frozen in her place for a good minute. Then she turned around, giving me an awkward smile.

“Master can be very grumpy in the morning. No one wants to go and wake him up when he has early morning meetings. But since you were his…” I raised my brow as she paused for a moment. She looked at me funny and I saw a rather disgusted look in her eyes. I already knew what she was thinking. “I mean, you know him better. So, I can assume he will not be yelling at you.” She completed, after restraining her words.

I almost wanted to tell her to go and do her work by herself but I also knew that she could tell Enzo and I could be in trouble. The last thing I wanted to get on his nerves in any way. So I decided to just suck it up and deal with it.

Though, I was unable to hide my sarcastic smile that appeared on my face after. “Yeah, sure! I'll take care of this. You can go and do your work.” I lazily replied to her. She instantly turned around and walked away as if I would stop her.

Rolling my eyes at her, I closed the door and went inside. I couldn't go outside without freshening up. I quickly did my morning business and brushed my teeth. Then I wrapped my hair in a high messy bun as I walked out of the room.

I knocked on his bedroom door a few times, I even banged on it once or twice just so I wouldn't have to go inside but I had to curse someone above the sky for constantly testing me that way. I sighed in defeat, knowing I was going to end up going the hard way. I opened the door. He never unlocked it anyway. He knew no one would ever try to open his door without his permission.

I walked into the room and the moment I looked at him, my cheeks and ears burned with embarrassment. I closed my eyes and turned my head away. He was sleeping completely naked in his bed, buck naked. Something churned in my stomach but not in a bad way, if that makes sense. I was taking deeper breaths, trying to calm myself down.

“It's alright. Everything is alright. He is my husband. There is no need for me to feel this way.” I tried to remind myself while fanning my face with both of my hands. My heart was literally hammering against my rib cage.

When I couldn't take it anymore, I eyed around his room to find water. “Where is the water? He always has water in his bedroom.” I was mumbling to myself as I looked around. I found a bottle in his nightstand. I walked toward it and poured myself a big glass of water to calm myself down.

As I gulped down the whole thing, I felt a little better. Breathing heavily, I closed my eyes for a moment. Just then, a hand wrapped around my wrist and I was suddenly pulled to his embrace, his warm and naked embrace. He wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in the crock of my neck.

My breath got stuck in my throat. We were in the spooning position. I was the little spoon in his gigantic and muscular arms. I was merely five feet tall, with a slim figure. While he was almost seven feet tall with a square body. I looked like a kitten that was cuddled by a big bear.

“Enzo…” I whimpered, my body heating up for no reason. Oh, actually, it was because he was completely naked.

“What?” He growled in my ear and placed a soft kiss on my ear.

“You promised you will not touch me until I am ready.” I reminded him of his own words he had spoken to me the night before.

I whimpered again, goosebumps rose all over my body as he slipped one of his hands under my shirt, making me shiver. “You are the one who came into my bedroom this early. What else am I supposed to expect when I know you have your own bedroom and you are no longer that little girl who gets scared of the dark?” Enzo whispered in my ear. His voice and words were laced with desires. I couldn't believe that he could desire me in such a short time.

“That's because you have a meeting soon, it's almost half past 5 in the morning. And because you are grumpy in the morning, no one is willing to wake you up.” I tried to reason with him while trying to wiggle my way out of his tight hold.

Just then, I felt something behind me. My body stiffened almost instantly as I realized what was happening. I was moving too much and it aroused him. “But I have no meeting this early. Have you forgotten? I don't like to wake up this early.” I almost slapped myself for not remembering the basic information about him. He never attended meetings this early.

“Enzo, please let me go. I forgot about your enmity against the early morning. Please, I won't make that mistake again.” I pleaded with him, but I dared not to move. I heard him chuckle against my neck. I felt him inhale deeply and something started warming up between my legs.

“Please…!” I begged him again. And now I earned a growling from him. He was angry. He didn't like it at all when I wanted to get away from him. His tight hold around me loosened up.

Before I could even think about moving, he pushed me off of the bed. I gasped as I fell on my butt. “Get the fuck out of my room.” He howled at me in pure rage. I didn't need him to repeat himself. I got up, holding my back with one hand that was hurting due to the impact. I ran out of his bedroom as if I was a thief who was caught stealing his stuff. I quietly shut the door so it wouldn't disturb him even more. I limped my way to my bedroom because my butt was hurting.

A few hours later, I was standing in the kitchen, pulling the next batch of cookies out of the oven. I was preparing his breakfast while baking cookies. Suddenly, the hair on the nape of my neck rose along with the goosebumps all over my body and I froze in my place. As if I could feel his presence. I knew he was standing behind me. “Get out, everyone.” He growled at all the maids working in the kitchen. I gulped hard while listening to everyone leave.

I was trying to focus on my work but it was nearly impossible after our morning interaction. He stood behind me, towering over me from behind. He turned the stove off and I could feel his warm breaths fanning over my neck. “What are you doing?” He asked in a confused tone. I would have rolled my eyes at him but I was too busy trying to keep on breathing.

“I couldn't sleep after… I had to busy myself with something since I can't even go to college.” I replied in a low tone. My voice came out as hoarse. I couldn't believe he could make me feel all that.

He placed his hand on my butt. I closed my eyes as he was gently rubbing my butt. “Did it hurt?” He asked in a low tone. This time, I turned my head to show him the annoyed look on my face. “I saw you limping out of my bedroom.” He elaborated and I gave him a sarcastic smile.

“No! I enjoyed falling off of your bed. It was fun. Why don't we do that again?” I couldn't hold back. His questions angered me. After pushing me off of the bed, he was pretending like he cared.

“Don't give me this attitude, butterfly. You know what I can do to you if I get angry.” Enzo growled in my ear. I whimpered again when he squeezed my hips in his palms.

“Besides, it was your fault to come into my room. You can't expect me to be uncomfortable in my own bedroom.” His tone suddenly changed. He was now teasing me. It wasn't like he never teased me before. But this was pretty different from the other times. This time, it was a seductive teasing.

“It's not my fault. It's your fault. Someone else was telling me about your schedule. It's your fault that you didn't inform me about your schedule. It's almost embarrassing to know it from others when to wake you up.” I growled back at him, feeling both annoyed and frustrated. He had the audacity to say those things to me after I tried to be a good wife for him.

He suddenly chuckled. And that chuckle was so dark, It made me shiver in fear. “Tell you about my schedule, so you would tell my enemy about me? Is that what you're plotting?” He whispered in my ear, his tone was seductively playful, yet his words were like sharp knives that cut through my heart.

Instantly, the sweetness of the cookies in my mouth turned bitter and my mood was sour. The man I had married, and was trying so hard to build up a relationship with, thought so low about me. “Anyways, what did you make for breakfast?” Enzo asked as he pulled away from me. He walked toward the kitchen counter and took his seat on one of the chairs.

“I made…” I paused as I had to clear my throat. My voice was shaking. I kept my head narrowed. Tears welled up into my eyes instantly.

“I made egg rolls and pancakes for you. I'll get the coffee ready for you as well.” I replied without looking at him. I prepared a tray where I placed all the things for him. Once done, I placed his breakfast in front of him. I turned everything off, even the oven that still had a tray inside, filled with cookie dough, to be baked.

Once I had served him his breakfast, I made my way toward the door of the kitchen. “Are you not eating?” He asked, as if he suddenly cared.

“No! I'm not hungry.” It wasn't the complete truth but it wasn't a lie either. I was starving all along, waiting for him to come downstairs so we could eat together, as per my mom's advice. But his comment literally killed my appetite. Without waiting for him to say anything else, I took my leave. I wanted to be alone.
