Chapter 14 When Have I Ever Worried About Her

The sunny day had turned into a downpour.

Alice and Esme were cruising away from the mall, pulling into the driveway when they spotted Clara by the roadside, looking all happy and waiting for a ride.

"Step on it, splash her!" Alice grinned.

Esme raised an eyebrow, floored the gas, and zoomed past. The speed sent dirty water flying, soaking Clara's champagne-colored dress and even splashing her face.

Clara was livid, stomping her feet, helplessly watching the red Porsche speed away.

In a Maybach waiting at a red light nearby.

Ethan reported, "Mr. Howard, the store manager and staff have all been fired."

Henry nodded, glanced at the name "Oliver" on his phone, hung up, and blocked him.

Suddenly, Ethan chuckled.

Henry shot him a look, "What's so funny?"

"That red Porsche just sped past Miss Clara Savoy and splashed her with dirty water."

"Enjoying her misery?"

Ethan coughed, "Miss Alice Savoy was in that Porsche."

A rare smile flickered on Henry's usually cold face but quickly vanished, "Sometimes, people don't need to be too kind."

"But Mr. Howard, Miss Savoy made over five million dollars today. She's not poor anymore, so you can worry less."

Henry frowned, "When did I ever worry about her?"

Ethan went silent.

The light turned green, and the Maybach started moving.

Henry glanced at the furious Clara by the roadside, amusement flashing in his cold eyes, "Speed up, splash her."

Ethan paused for a moment, then got it and sped up.

Clara was cursing loudly when the black Maybach zoomed past, splashing her and making her swallow a mouthful of dirty water, causing her to gag.

Ethan peeked in the rearview mirror and saw Henry's lips curve slightly.

He didn't expect Henry to have such a playful side.

At the Howard Group.

Henry had just stepped out of the CEO's private elevator when he saw Oliver looking worried.

"Uncle Henry."

Henry had this natural noble arrogance. Even without saying a word, just looking at Oliver indifferently, he had a commanding presence.

He glanced at Oliver and walked towards his office, "You got anything?"

Cautiously following behind Henry, Oliver tentatively asked, "Uncle Henry, why did you suddenly want to check the revenue of Silver Sands International Mall?"

Henry paused, side-eyeing him, "I'll give you two minutes to explain."

Ethan opened the office door first, and Henry walked in with his long, straight legs, while Oliver followed in a flustered manner.

Inside the office, Oliver stood in front of the desk with his head down like a student, not daring to look anywhere.

Henry sat in the black leather executive chair, his hands casually resting on the armrests, tapping with his clean and smooth fingertips. Each tap seemed to hit Oliver's heart.

"Silver Sands International Mall has two sets of books. You've learned embezzlement quite well." Henry threw the documents on the desk at Oliver's face, the sharp paper cutting his cheek.

Seeing the dense numbers and words on the documents, Oliver knew his falsified accounts had been exposed.

He pursed his lips, "Uncle Henry, I need money to run my own company."

"Using the Howard Group's cash to plug the holes in your fake companies? You think I'm stupid?"

Oliver's hands clenched at his sides.

Henry's cold aura intensified, his usually stoic face darkening. "You say you're covering the company's losses, but you're really funneling the money to overseas accounts!"

Cold sweat beaded on Oliver's forehead. "Uncle Henry, please, just this once."

"Pay back every cent, and we'll call it even. Otherwise, I'm calling your dad right now."

"Don't call him! If my dad finds out, he'll throw me in jail!" Oliver wiped the sweat from his brow.

Henry lifted his eyelids slightly, "You have half a month."

Oliver's heart sank. The thought of losing all that money and having to return every dollar felt like a knife to the gut.

As soon as he left the office, Oliver called the bank manager, "A woman will come to withdraw over five million dollars soon, block it. What? It's already been transferred to the welfare home?"

Oliver didn't expect Alice to move so fast, nor did he expect her to donate the money instead of keeping it.

His chest tightened, like he'd been punched hard. He knew the money was gone for good.

Ethan watched him leave, then walked into the office.

He approached Henry and said, "Sir, Mr. Howard just called the bank to block the check given to Miss Savoy, but was told the money had already been transferred to the welfare home."

Henry, who was reviewing documents, paused, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Alice, who clearly needed money, had donated it instead.

Her pure yet alluring face popped into his mind again.

At the Savoy Villa.

When Alice got back, she saw Elodie and Clara on the sofa, both glaring at her with resentment.

"Where's the card?" Elodie asked coldly.

Alice waved the bag in her hand. "I only bought clothes today, no jewelry yet. I'll continue tomorrow. For some reason, the card got frozen, so I'll need Dad to unfreeze it."

Elodie slammed the teacup on the coffee table. "Didn't Oliver give you a check for over five million dollars? Hand over the check and the card!"

Alice looked at Elodie's sour face. "I earned that money on my own, and the card was given by Dad. You have no right to ask for either."

"The company's struggling right now. As a member of the Savoy Family, you have an obligation to contribute!"

Alice didn't respond but looked Elodie up and down, then said, "I see you're wearing at least twenty million dollars worth of jewelry. You should contribute to the Savoy Family too, sell them at a luxury resale store!"

"You!" Elodie felt Alice had changed, no longer timid and even daring to talk back.

Alice smirked, "Speaking of being a member of the Savoy Family, I suddenly remembered, I should have shares in the Savoy Family company. Even Clara, an adopted daughter, has shares, how could I have less? I'll consult a lawyer about this."

Elodie was stunned by her words, watching Alice turn the corner to the second floor.

"Mom, Alice really wants a share of the company."

Elodie puffed her cheeks in anger. "Don't worry, everything in the Savoy Family belongs to you, and has nothing to do with that bitch Alice."

Clara frowned tightly, "But she's still Dad's daughter."

Elodie held her hand. "Don't worry! All the Savoy Family's assets are yours."
