Chapter 41 I Won't Get Engaged to You Anymore

Clara, snuggled up in Oliver's arms, shot daggers at Alice, wishing she could just zap her out of existence with a look.

Alice pointed at the half-floating cover in the water. "The belt of my cover got tangled in the propeller. And why did it get tangled, Clara? You know exactly what happened."

Clara started bawling even louder. "I don't know why Alice is accusing me, but I didn't do it, Oliver, you have to believe me."

Oliver looked at Alice with a mix of emotions. Others might not get why she always went after Clara, but he had a pretty good idea. It had to be because Alice still had feelings for him, so she hated Clara and was jealous, doing whatever she could to get his attention.

Even though Alice's actions were pretty nasty, they definitely worked.

Underneath Alice's rough exterior was a beautiful face, and her personality had shifted from seemingly timid but secretly devious to bold and cool. This change made Oliver's heart race.

Oliver felt like this whole mess started because of him, so he should be the one to fix it. "Both Alice and Clara are to blame for what happened today. Alice, if you hadn't brought Clara onto the deck, this wouldn't have happened. Clara, you also scratched Alice's neck. Just apologize to each other and let's move on."

Clara frowned. In the past, Oliver would've been furious if Alice had kicked her. But today, he was acting weird and didn't even scold Alice, which made her uneasy.

Seeing Clara's dissatisfaction, Oliver tried to soothe her. "Clara, you and Alice are sisters. Everyone's watching, so let's settle this peacefully. Uncle Henry is here too."

Clara glanced warily at Henry. She remembered how he had defended Alice at the hospital and understood Oliver's behavior.

But now she was more worried about why Henry suddenly showed up here and even risked his life to save Alice.

If he hadn't shown up, Alice would be a cold corpse by now.

Clara voiced the question on everyone's mind, "Mr. Howard, weren't you supposed to be on a business trip? So why are you here?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Henry, who was lounging on a beach chair with a cigarette between his fingers, his legs slightly apart.

Henry's naturally tanned skin looked even more attractive under the warm sunlight. His hair fell down, making him look less stern than usual. His shirt, slightly open, revealed a glimpse of his muscular chest, making him the epitome of a seductive man.

Henry's eyes coldly swept over Clara, his voice icy, "Who do you think you are, daring to question me?"

Clara's face turned ugly, feeling very humiliated.

Oliver also felt humiliated. Even though he now liked Alice, Clara was still his girlfriend in name. Disrespecting Clara was like disrespecting him, so he said, "Uncle Henry, Clara didn't mean anything by it, she..."

"Shut up." Henry interrupted, his voice low and deep, then he turned to Ethan "Go get the surveillance footage from the three yachts."

"Yes, sir." Ethan nodded. Soon, he brought out the surveillance footage from the three yachts and played it on a laptop.

Clara's face turned visibly pale. What she thought was a blind spot was clearly captured by the surveillance on Henry's yacht.

Everyone saw Clara on the screen, looking smug, and then she grabbed Alice's collar while falling backward.

Henry gave Oliver a cold glance and extinguished his cigarette. "What do you think should be done?"

With all the evidence laid out, Oliver looked at the tearful Clara, his eyes filled with disdain.

He had been with Clara before because Alice didn't fit his type. But now, Alice was like a goddess.

Without a second thought, he raised his hand and slapped Clara hard, knocking her to the ground. "Why did you do this? Were those other incidents you framing Alice too?"

Clara, with no dignity left, crawled on her knees to hug Oliver's leg. "Oliver, believe me, I never framed Alice before! I just thought Alice had become beautiful, and I was worried you would leave me. I just wanted to see if you would save me or her at this moment. Oliver, I love you, I can't lose you!"

Henry coldly spoke, "How can the Howard Family allow such an evil woman to become a family member?"

Clara paused for a moment. The Howard Family had already disliked her for replacing Alice, and now Henry's words could ruin her engagement to Oliver.

She cried bitterly, "Uncle Henry, I was wrong, I won't dare to do it again." She crawled to Alice. "Alice, please forgive me, I know I was wrong."

Alice looked at her coldly. "If you want my forgiveness, it depends on what you do."

Clara gritted her teeth and started slapping her own face.

Esme sneered, "Looks like you didn't eat enough dessert earlier. You don't have the strength at all. The sound of slaps isn't even as loud as a fish splashing in the water."

Despite her seething hatred, Clara could only increase the force of her slaps until blood appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Henry's lips turned pale, and his brow furrowed slightly. He stood up and returned to his yacht.

Noticing Henry's unusual behavior, Alice threw away the blanket and followed him.

Seeing Alice and Henry leave, Clara finally stopped. She tried to grab Oliver's leg but missed.

Oliver looked at her coldly. Clara's evil deeds were witnessed by everyone today. Even if he publicly broke off their engagement, no one would say anything, especially since Henry had already spoken. "Clara, I won't be engaged to you anymore."

"What?" Clara's eyes widened.

Oliver said indifferently, "I will still marry into the Savoy Family, but the fiancée will no longer be you. Alice is more suitable to be the future hostess of the Howard Family!"

Clara was very terrified. "No! Oliver, I beg you, don't abandon me! I will be very obedient and well-behaved from now on!"

Oliver didn't bother to look at her again. "I have made my mind. When we return tomorrow, you can leave on your own!"

Clara got up and chased after him. "Oliver, I beg you."

Rupert sneered, "What a disgusting man! Does he mean he's planning to get engaged to Alice now?"

Esme frowned. "Oliver is such a self-righteous scumbag! He should stay with that hypocritical Clara and give other girls a break!"

Rupert said, "What about Alice? This can't happen!"

Esme patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, Alice won't want that idiot Oliver!"

Rupert nodded and looked around for Alice. "Where did Alice go?"

Esme knew Alice had gone to find Henry and didn't want Rupert to disturb them, so she said, "Alice is probably changing clothes. Rupert, Alice made a lot of desserts, let's go try them."

Seeing Rupert's gaze fell on Henry's yacht, Esme quickly pulled him away.

After entering the cabin, Henry heard footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw Alice standing three feet away from him.
