Chapter 1.

FREYA'S POV

"No, this is not possible." My tears broke out as I looked at my parents' visions. My chest felt tight. I sobbed with my tears spilling out in torrents. My hands trembled as I touched their cold bodies.

Their bodies were pale, looking unwell with several wounds on their bodies. I screamed in pain, the heartache I felt cutting deep into my body. My world seemed to collapse right then and there when I knew they had passed away.

"Dad, Mom, please wake up. Don't do this to me. Don't leave me," I sobbed. I was like a crazy person who didn't know if this was a dream or real. Even some time ago I still clearly remember them hugging me with warmth that I can still feel. But now their bodies were as cold as ice. Motionless. With their eyes closed. They are gone.

"Freya, calm down. Calm down."

I continued to cry, screaming in disgust. Even when my senior pulled my hand and tried to calm me down.

"Calm down? You're telling me to calm down when my parents are dead?!" I shouted in disgust. I looked at him with tears streaming down my face. I squeezed my chest which felt so tight that it was hard for me to breathe.

"Freya...."

"They were killed! I even... I even...." I couldn't continue as I felt the pain of this loss.

"Freya, I'm so sorry for what happened to them."

"Who?" I demanded with my eyes bulging. I tugged at his wrist, trying to find the answer in his eyes. "Who did this heinous thing to my parents?"

"Freya...."

"Answer me! Who killed them!" I snapped. I grabbed him by the collar. With tears breaking out, I pressed her to answer.

He sighed heavily as if it was the hardest answer he had to say. And I was even more hurt when I saw the look of loss and regret in his dark eyes.

"They, humans, did this to your parents." He swallowed hard. And my tears fell even more when I heard that.

"H-humans?" I asked incredulously. Both my hands fell without a fight. My body felt weak just to sit up. It felt like I had no zest for life. Even to breathe, my chest felt so tight that I felt like I was going to die.

"Your parents went to Earth to complete their last project. When they were about to return here, they were discovered and the humans took your mother and father hostage. We tried to help them, but it was too late. When we arrived, they had already taken your parents' spinal cord. And killed them horribly."

I squeezed my chest. It hurt. It hurt so much when I heard how viciously they killed my parents and took their spinal cord without even a hint of mercy.

"Why?" I sobbed. I clenched my hands into fists with a pale face. With a gaze full of vengeance and the pain I felt. "Why are humans so vile? Is it in their nature to torture those not of their planet? Do they not have hearts?!" I shouted in disgust.

"Freya..."

"Aliens?" I laughed sadly. "They call us aliens as if we were something horrible. But their behavior is even more despicable than animals!"

"I'm sorry. I should have come sooner to save your parents. This is my fault." He looked at me with an apologetic expression. Patting my shoulder lightly to calm me down. But I couldn't calm down when I saw how my parents had died.

"I won't just let them go," I said with eyes full of hatred. The pain I feel, I will use as a tool to avenge what the humans did to my parents.

"Freya, you wouldn't think toー"

"Why? Can't I avenge my parents' deaths? I can even destroy the world for them," I said with my eyes narrowed. "If they can so mercilessly torture and kill my family, I can also punish them for the wrong they've done!"

"But, you don't even know which human has done this to your parents."

"I'll find it. No matter how long it takes me to find them. I'll make sure I get my revenge," I hissed. I clenched my hands into fists as I stared at my parents' corpses. "So that there will be no more regrets and pain." And also to make sure that my mom and dad are at peace that I've avenged them.

"Freya, it's too dangerous for you to...."

"When are you going to send us to Earth again?" I interjected quickly. Not caring about his every word. My mind is made up and no one can change it.

"Freya," he protests.

"When."

He swallows and lets out a long breath at my stubbornness.

"Next week. We'll send stronger people for the next project," he replied.

"I'll come along."

"Freya."

"It doesn't matter that you're against it. I've decided that I'm coming along on this trip of ours. You can't stop me," I insisted. Looking into her eyes with seriousness.

"But this is very dangerous. You shouldn't come along."

"I'm the best soldier. And I can do it better than you think. Of course, you know very well what I'm capable of."

"That's right, you are great. But this is too risky. You might do something wrong because of your feelings of resentment and make a hasty decision. And that could put you in danger."

"I don't care," I said, "I will risk my life to avenge myself. And until I do, I won't be able to live in peace."

He was silent for a long time. It was as if he was thinking about my decision. Then I saw him contacting someone. The head of the department in charge of this project. And he looked back at me with a serious face.

"They authorized you," he said with an unhappy look.

"Don't worry. I can take care of myself. I'll come back alive. I don't even think I'll give up my life in the hands of those vile, selfish humans," I insisted.

He let out another long sigh. And I just looked at him with a flat expression on my face. There was nothing left in me except revenge.

"I will return with my parents' spinal cord. Make sure they die in peace," I told him.

"Alright," he finally gave in to my determination, "but on one condition."

"Tell me."

"No one must know your true identity. You must make sure to hide it from everyone and act as if you are human."

"Don't worry. I'm good at doing that. I promise no one will know my identity."
