Chapter 11

Alice was floored. She didn't want either.

"Future mother-in-law?" Alice felt uneasy and wary, scooting away from David.

David was momentarily stunned. He had said "future mother-in-law" jokingly, forgetting about the misunderstanding. The atmosphere in the car got awkward.

They drove in silence to the mall's parking lot. As Alice unbuckled her seatbelt to get out, David suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. "Wait, there's something I need to clear up to avoid any misunderstandings."

David had no choice; he couldn't let the misunderstanding get worse!

He awkwardly explained everything to Alice.

Alice laughed heartily for the first time. She couldn't believe David had such a funny idea, thinking she liked him and doing a series of foolish things to lower her affection.

David's intelligence must have dropped; it was hilarious!

David waited for Alice to finish laughing, but she laughed for almost three minutes, clutching her stomach and leaning over the passenger seat.

David pulled her up, pinching her cheek, "Is it that funny?"

Alice wasn't afraid of David at all. She wiped her tears and nodded, trying to suppress her smile but failing, eventually laughing again.

David pursed his lips, his face darkening. He let go of her and got out of the car.

Seeing this, Alice quickly got out, ran around the car, and tugged at David's sleeve.

"David, what were you thinking? Saying goodnight means I like you?"

David was in a foul mood, having never made such a big fool of himself. "I misunderstood you. Sorry."

David coldly apologized, using his long legs to put some distance between them.

David grabbed Alice's wrist and yanked her into the mall elevator.

They rode up to the fourth floor and strolled into a women's clothing store.

The store manager came over with a friendly grin.

"Go ahead, try on whatever you like," the store manager said. "These clothes aren't that fragile; you won't ruin them by trying them on."

Alice liked her words and picked out a couple of pieces she liked, then dashed to the fitting room to change.

"Mr. Tudor." A voice called from above.

David looked up and saw Celeste.

Celeste was shocked to see it was really David and quickly covered her mouth in surprise, "Mr. Tudor, what are you doing here?"

"David, help!" Alice's cry for help suddenly came from the fitting room. David immediately got up and hurried towards the fitting room.

David pushed the door and found it wasn't locked, so he barged in.

But he didn't expect to see a patch of exposed skin, a pink lace bra, a slender waist, and a round belly button.

David was momentarily stunned and was about to leave when Alice immediately grabbed him and turned him around. "It's stuck. I can't get it off. Help me out."

David pressed his thin lips together and frowned as he looked over. He found that the bra clasp was caught on the sweater. She had probably tried to get it off earlier, but the more she tried, the worse it got, and the clasp was now tangled in the sweater.

"Who told you to pick this one?" David asked.

Alice looked innocent. "Don't you think this rainbow sweater is pretty? Besides, weren't you the one who brought me here to buy clothes? Why are you blaming me?"

Alice glanced back at David and saw him looking at her back with a difficult expression. She felt a bit helpless. "I'm not trying to seduce you. Why are you making that face?"

Then she caught sight of someone approaching out of the corner of her eye. When she saw who it was, she suddenly screamed and immediately threw herself into David's arms.

Celeste had thought the voice sounded familiar and didn't want to miss David, so she grabbed a piece of clothing and went to see who it was. To her surprise, it was Alice!

"You two..." Celeste's face was pained. She was previously sure that Alice might have gotten close to David, at most as a lover, but never thought it could develop into a couple. Seeing this scene, she was no longer sure.

David turned around and saw Celeste standing outside. His brows furrowed deeply, and he walked into the fitting room, closing the door behind him.

The sound was loud enough to show how bad David's mood was.

"Turn around," David said patiently without touching Alice. "You're 19, an adult. Next time something like this happens, don't call me; find another girl to help you."

Alice turned around, and David reached out. He untangled the clasp from the sweater after a few twists and then tossed it aside.

He picked up another piece of clothing from the chair and handed it to Alice. As he turned to leave, he noticed a scar on Alice's shoulder but didn't ask about it. He opened the door and walked out.

Alice tried on the remaining two pieces and felt they were suitable.

But it was frustrating to run into Celeste while buying clothes, especially in the same store. Did Celeste have a radar on her or was David emitting some floral scent that attracted her like a bee?

Looking at herself in the mirror, Alice touched the scar on her shoulder, picked up the clothes, and walked out of the fitting room.

David saw Alice's unhappy face, picked up his backpack, and took her to another store.

Celeste watched the two walk away, her was extremely displeased. She pulled out her phone and sent a text to her mom, Juniper Davis. Then she made an excuse to her friends and hurried to meet her.

On the other side, seeing Alice unhappy, David bought a piece of cake to cheer her up, making Alice laugh and cry at the same time.

David glanced at her.

Alice shrugged and took a bite. "Alright, alright."

"What's with the scar on your shoulder?"

Alice blinked and said nonchalantly, "It's nothing. I just fell and got hurt."

After a few seconds of silence, Alice said, "Alright, I'll be honest with you. It was because of Celeste."
