Chapter 3
Lydia's hands were soft and delicate, but Caroline had to force herself not to flinch. To her, Lydia was a snake.
Caroline looked up with a dependent expression at Lydia. "Thanks, Lydia."
"We're family; no need to thank me," Lydia said with a smile, thinking Caroline was so dumb she didn't need to do anything more.
Caroline gave a timid smile. "Lydia, I need to use the restroom."
Seeing her scared look, Lydia didn't think much of it and agreed right away.
Caroline slowly walked out of the hospital room and headed towards the restroom.
Behind her, Lydia saw she was indeed heading to the restroom and then went back to the room. But after more than ten minutes, Caroline still hadn't returned, and Lydia realized something was up. "Nolan, did Caroline run off?"
Nolan's face changed, and he rushed out to chase her. Lydia checked the restroom, but Caroline was gone.
The two of them ran out and saw a familiar-looking girl walking quickly ahead. "Caroline, stop right there!"
The girl heard the voice and started running without looking back.
Five years later, at Aurora City International Airport, Sarah Parker was hustling through the crowd, trying to get to the front.
Right then, Caroline showed up with two little kids, coming out of the airport passage.
Caroline was rocking a white hoodie, jeans, and some crazy slippers. She looked super chill, but still drop-dead gorgeous. Her features were delicate, her skin was soft, and her figure was just right. She had a kid in each hand, scanning the crowd like she was looking for someone. The kids were cute as buttons, with little upturned noses and big eyes, like tiny angels.
They instantly grabbed everyone's attention.
"Check out that chick with the kids, they're stunning!"
"Man, those genes are gold. Makes me wanna have a baby."
"Caroline, over here!" Sarah waved like a maniac, pushing her way to them.
Caroline spotted Sarah and grinned.
"Sarah," The two little ones yelled together, making Sarah light up with joy.
"Oh my sweethearts, I've missed you so much."
Even though the two kids looked like twins and were both dressed as boys, they were actually a boy-girl pair.
The boy, Ryan Rockefeller, was the older one, quiet and distant, a total computer whiz.
The girl, Sophie Rockefeller, was bubbly and energetic, always thinking about food.
Seeing Sarah scoop up the kids, Caroline said, "Sarah, can you keep an eye on them while I grab the luggage?"
