Chapter 7

Rachel's curiosity was piqued by his mysterious demeanor. "You tell me first, then I'll decide whether to go."

Robert sighed helplessly. "Rachel, if I tell you, there won't be any mystery left."

Seeing his awkward expression, Rachel couldn't help but laugh.

When Michael emerged from the courthouse, he saw a man leaning close to Rachel's ear, whispering something. She was laughing so happily. He was about to get into his car but stopped, turned around, and stared coldly at the two of them, eyes filled with anger.

Since they got married, Rachel had never laughed like that. All he ever heard were her endless complaints about annoying trivial matters, and whenever she looked at him, her eyes were full of caution. Michael actually didn't like her being like that; it made him feel irritated.

He didn't expect that after the divorce, she would seem like a completely different person, radiating a dazzling light from the inside out. Michael sneered inwardly, 'Is it because of that man? A cheating woman isn't worth a second glance!'

"Mr. Smith?" David cautiously reminded his boss, who hadn't gotten into the car yet.

Michael withdrew his gaze and got into the car. "Let's go back."

David couldn't help but feel that Michael was very angry, his face terrifying.

Rachel had just gotten into the passenger seat when she caught a glimpse of Michael leaving. As their car drove off, she stared blankly at the trees speeding by outside.

Robert noticed her melancholy and asked carefully, "Rachel, what are you thinking about?"

Rachel snapped out of it and smiled. "Nothing."

From her angle, Robert's profile looked more defined, with a slightly mixed-race appearance. Michael had been the most handsome guy in school back then, but Robert was no less attractive, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and long legs, comparable to an international model.

"Why did you choose the modeling industry?" Rachel asked. She had thought that with his good grades, he would take the academic route.

"I just tried out for a casting on a whim, and unexpectedly, I became a model after that." Glancing at Rachel through the car mirror, he pretended to ask casually, "Rachel, do you not like the modeling industry?"

Rachel shook her head, her voice soft. "Not at all. As long as you're successful and continue to develop in your field, it's all the same."

Robert's eyes were filled with joy as he steadily braked. "We're here, Rachel."

In front of them was a vintage two-story house, with an elderly man with white hair sitting in a chair drinking coffee.

The elderly man, Richard Wilson, turned around and smiled at her. "Rachel."

Rachel was stunned, unable to believe it.

Richard sighed. "I know everything that happened to you. You've been through a lot."

She threw herself into his arms, sobbing,"Grandpa, where have you been all these years?"

Six years ago, Skyline Corporation's funds were stolen, and the evidence pointed to her father as the thief. Not only was he fired by the board, but he also faced jail time. Then, her stepmother and stepsister absconded with the money, and her father, depressed, jumped off a building.

Richard spoke seriously. "I've been investigating the theft of the company's funds all these years and found that it was related to TriStar Corporation. Your dad was made a scapegoat."

TriStar Corporation was the largest real estate company in Summit Ridge District, and its chairman was Ethan Brown, Mandy's father.

While Rachel was thinking, Richard took out a document and placed it in her hand. He said, "Rachel, this is 51% of Skyline Corporation's shares. Don't ask me how I got it; I know you need this."

Rachel's eyes were resolute as she said, "I will find the people who framed my dad and prove his innocence. I won't let you down, Grandpa."
