Chapter 6
Agnes blurted out something wild, and Justin just flopped into Jeremy's arms like a drama queen. "Jeremy, has Agnes lost her mind or what?"
Jeremy was just as confused, scratching his head. Agnes was definitely acting off today.
Bella, on the other hand, just gave Justin a nudge with her foot. "Dude, Agnes's car's worth a cool million; she can totally afford to eat on the fifth floor of Alioth. It's not that crazy."
Justin thought about it and nodded. "Yeah, maybe. But the fifth floor of Alioth isn't just any place; you need a reservation. It's already mealtime, and they might be booked solid."
He wasn't trying to look down upon Agnes; he was just stating the facts.
When his dad invited VIPs here, they had to book a month, sometimes even three months in advance!
Agnes was lost in her thoughts. Before she saw Leopold, she was happy. But now, seeing her husband shopping with Ella and splurging on her, she was displeased.
That lipstick set was $26,000. And those bags Kevin was lugging around—if she guessed right—were worth thousands, maybe tens of thousands!
Leopold gave her a hefty allowance every month, but she always saw herself as a student and didn't ask for much. The rest seemed to be saved by Robert, and she didn't care about it.
Agnes had never splurged on herself like that, but Ella just had to say the word, and Leopold'd buy her anything. As Leopold's legit wife, why should she be the one pinching pennies? Why save money for him?
Anyway, they were getting divorced, so why not live it up while she still could?
Looking at her friends talking about hitting up the fifth floor of Alioth, Agnes figured it was worth treating them to a fancy meal.
She pulled out her phone and called Robert.
A minute later, she hung up and turned around. Her friends, who had been chatting away, were now staring at her, jaws dropped.
She said coolly, "Let's go."
"Go where?" Clara asked, a bit nervous.
Agnes grinned, "To treat you all to a meal!"
Ten minutes later, on the fifth floor of Alioth, as Agnes waited for the waiter to confirm their private room, the elevator doors opened again.
Leading the group out was Leopold, oozing that can't-miss-it presence.
Agnes clutched her chest, feeling a pang. Before she mentioned divorce, she hardly ever saw Leopold. Since she brought it up, this was the third time!
She couldn't help but wonder if Leopold was showing up on purpose, trying to win her back.
"Throw her out." Leopold's words snapped her back to reality.
The floor manager, sweating bullets, explained awkwardly, "Mr. Neville, these guests were arranged by Robert."
Hearing Robert's name, Leopold glanced at the group of students and pointed at Agnes. "Kevin, they can stay, but throw her out!"
Ella, who had been too scared to say anything, almost burst out laughing. Leopold must be gunning for Agnes because of her!
Kevin was scratching his head. Leopold didn't even know Agnes, so why was he always on her case? What was his beef with her?
Leopold, losing his patience, shot Kevin a sharp look. "Kevin, can't you handle this tiny issue?"
Kevin was sweating bullets. "No, Mr. Neville, it's because she is..."
Agnes, catching on, frantically winked at Kevin, signaling him to zip it.
Leopold, catching the whole scene, sneered even more. He thought she was flirting with Kevin. "Kevin, don't be fooled by appearances. Some people look pure but are rotten inside. If I were like that, I'd jump off from here."
Kevin was floored.
Why was Leopold making a scene with Agnes in public? He usually avoided dealing with women.
Agnes gritted her teeth. He was humiliating her in front of everyone.
She wasn't one to back down. Her temper flared. "Leopold, it was just an accidental kiss! Do you, as a man, have to target me like this? Kicking me out once wasn't enough; now you want to do it twice. Do you think you're so powerful that the entire Sunrise International Shopping Mall belongs to you?"
She was the one that's down on her luck, okay? That was her first kiss! Even though he was her husband, she still felt wronged!
Clara and Justin tugged at her sleeves, and Justin whispered, "Agnes, stop it! We can't afford to mess with Mr. Neville!"
Just because they couldn't mess with him, did that mean he could humiliate her? "Since a filthy woman like me has kissed you, shouldn't you come die with me, Mr. Neville?"
After all, their marriage document had both their names on it!
As Agnes's sharp words hung in the air, the entire fifth floor went silent.
Some people thought Agnes had lost it, daring to say she kissed Leopold and even telling him to die.
The floor manager wished he could throw Agnes out right now, but Kevin stayed put, and the manager didn't dare act rashly.
After all, he didn't know Leopold's temper as well as Kevin did.
Ella, hearing that Agnes had kissed Leopold, gritted her teeth and glared at Agnes. She wished she could throw Agnes to the sharks right now. Ella could be by Leopold's side today because of her grandfather.
Ella needed a lot of courage just to touch Leopold, let alone kiss him.
Kevin finally couldn't hold back and covered his face in frustration. There was probably no more clueless boss's wife in the world than Agnes, right? Sunrise International Shopping Mall really did belong to Leopold, and since they hadn't divorced yet, it was hers, too!
Bella, who was been daydreaming about kissing Leopold, quickly wiped away her almost drooling expression and said in a trembling voice, "Agnes, Sunrise International Shopping Mall really does belong to Mr. Neville!"
Agnes was stunned. After a long pause, she asked foolishly, "What did you just say?"
