“Other than the bruises nothing is seriously wrong with her. She’ll heal up just fine.” He curtly told the Alpha, then left immediately. I hated that I'd gotten his family sent away from him. he used to be the kindest thing I felt sometimes.

“STAY AWAY FROM EVERYONE UNTIL THE MORNING.” Alpha Taylor ordered with fury in his tone. Silently, I did as such.

The next morning, I quickly cooked a small breakfast with the knowledge that brunch for the guests.

“Is brunch even close to being ready?” Alpha Taylor growled, standing at the kitchen doorway.

“Yes, it’s being watched by the omegas like you asked. And is ready to be set out once its time as to not let anything get cold.” I replied.

“Excellent. Get to your room and change into something presentable. And as long as you keep this up you will earn dinner tonight.” Laced with anger, from knowing that if not then our guests would learn how I’m being starved.

“Yes, Sir.” Changing quickly into one of the few outfits I had that could be seen as ‘presentable’. Then made sure that everything was up to Alpha and Luna’s standards. Once done, I stood quietly by the front door as I waited for the Alpha and Luna.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity they both decided to descend downstairs in a new outfit. I could never understand why they changed clothes so often. Once I glanced at myself, thinking I wasn’t much to look at. I’m only 5’5”, in height, with dark midnight hair and green eyes that unsettle most people, I'm pale from not being allowed outside for ninety percent of my life. Luna is constantly commenting on my appearance, saying I'm filled out in “all the right places’, just not kindly. She once called me her son’s concubine; having felt ashamed being called that from not truly or fully understanding it.

“Open the doors.” Alpha Taylor ordered.

“Yes, Alpha.” I opened them as ordered, stepping aside as he, Luna and their son stood at the entrance. Behind them were the pack’s Beta and a few of Milton’s friends. I tried to make myself invisible, staying behind the open door as to be out of the way until needed.

The first car opened and out stepped the first set of guests with what one could assume are pack Warriors. They introduced themselves as Alpha Tomas Enwell, Luna Krysta Enwell, their twin sons, Stuart and Kallen, and their daughters, Rachellea and Gustava. They introduced their Beta and warriors only by title, keeping the formalities brief. The entire family was impeccably dressed. Luna Krysta wore a knee-length dress that appeared tight but moved with ease, less form-fitting than what my Luna was wearing. Alpha Tomas, like mine, sported a sharp suit, though his had a subtler, more refined sheen. The twin sons, standing no less than seven feet tall like their father, had short, dark black hair. They were muscular, resembling the ROTC types from school—buff, yet carrying an air of reserved intelligence. The daughters, Rachellea and Gustava, were dressed in business-casual outfits, the kind I’d only ever seen in Milton’s magazines. They weren’t overly formal, but still, they looked polished and well-put-together.

The next car pulled up stepping out of it was, Alpha Frank, Luna Marla, their son next in line for Alpha, Steven, and their daughters Rebecca, Sara, and Tasha. I’d met all but their daughters once before. They were from the Silver Crescent Pack. Again, Luna and Alpha looked appropriately dressed next to mine. The silver crescent daughters were wearing the same dress just in different colors. With their hair was all pulled back into nice, neat buns with a flower that matched their dresses. While their son reminded me more of Milton, in jeans and a normal black shirt and sneakers.

Noticing the Green Mountain Twins’ were acting quite strange as they were looking around, smelling the air until they looked at me. They stopped and smiled at me. I smiled back, still unsure why they wouldn’t stop staring at me. I knew I wasn’t in any position to question or defy whatever they had planned for me, not to mention the consequences from my own Alpha for speaking to guests. As they continued to stare, I felt something strange—a glimmer of kindness and hope in their gaze that I wasn’t used to. It made me wonder why, though I knew I wasn’t allowed to ask. Beneath my fear of what they—or their father—might have planned, that unfamiliar sense of warmth lingered, leaving me both confused and curious.

Even my wolf felt something, ‘They are special to us.’ I just letting her feel she knew what she was talking about. As I couldn’t let us get our hopes up.

“Young lady, help them with the luggage then meet us in the dining room.” Cutting my thoughts short, Alpha Taylor ordered.

“Yes, Alpha.” I quickly gathering their luggage taking it to the rooms that they were going to be in. The Green Mountain Pack warriors helped me carry their things while omegas dealt with the Silver Crescent Packs things. In silence we worked putting way their items. I took Green Mountain to one side of the third floor while they took the rest to the other side of the third floor. After getting their luggage put away, I stood off out of the way unless they needed something.

They talked amongst each other, but before long the Alpha ordered, “Young lady, go get more juice for the Lunas’.”

“Yes, Alpha.” I went to get more juice for the Lunas.

Thinking how that was the nicest thing he’d ever called me, a young lady. And, how these guests must be vital with him not calling me bitch or mutt.

Stuart’s POV

Getting out of the car, a scent hit us like a punch. It was pulling us it was so intoxicating to us and our wolves. Scanning through those that we could see, found her standing just behind the door. She took our breath away. Her hair was blacker than night, her eyes an entrancing green that reminded me of precious stones, and her pale skin seemed to glow like moonlight. She was bruised, small marks barely visible, but enough to ignite anger in both me and my wolf. Hell, both Kallen and myself thought it was more than the darkest of caves.

Our wolves howled and then growled ‘MATE!’ As they growled, we noticed faint bruises on our mate's body, bruises that couldn’t have been inflicted just a day or so ago. This made both us and our wolves furious.

‘Dad, Mom. That girl is our mate. What should we do? How are we able to know this now? We are at least a week away from this being possible.’ We told them holding back the rage our wolves were feeling. And excitement on our part.

'Maybe for you. But she could be of age. Now, let us handle that.’ Dad replied through the link.

‘Yes, Sir.’ we told him. Still struggling to keep our wolves under control, watching her every move as she avoided eye contact with anyone. It made us wonder what she’d been through here.

‘Help that young lady with our things, as she will be your next Luna.’ Dad ordered the warriors through the mind link. They gave a curt nod. ‘She will be your future Luna.’

‘Yes, Alphas.’ they answered. As they helped her we continued to smile at her. Noticing her flinch at the slightest touch, only angered our wolves more. Knowing full well we had to remain calm. Bringing attention to her now could make things worse.

‘Kallen, Stuart, let’s move. We’re eating brunch. Don’t watch her too much—it could be harmful to her,’ our father warned.

‘Yes, sir,’ we replied, heading into their sorry excuse for a dining room. As our mom, sisters, the ladies from Silver Crescent Pack, Black Moon’s Luna, Alpha Frank, our father, and Alpha Taylor settled at the table, it was clear there wasn’t enough room for everyone. I wondered why they even called this cramped space a dining room. After a while, the scent hit us again, and we realized our mate was nearby. Scanning the room, we spotted her standing in the corner with her head down, hands behind her back, trying to remain unnoticed. We considered going over to speak to her until Alpha Taylor—or as we like to call him, Alpha Dumbass—called out for her to get more juice for the ladies.

“Yes, Alpha,” she answered obediently, moving quickly to fulfill his command. This time, we noticed the fear and anxiety radiating from her.
