POV – third party

The car stopped everyone except their father, the twins and Flew Doe climbed out, who just stayed silent. They finally moved and let her down from their laps. Placing her gently between them.

“How did you sleep, Miss?” Tomas asked her.

“Nice, thank you.” She answered.

“I know that you are hungry. I also know that before now you’ve not been free to eat like everyone else. I am also aware that you felt obligated to oblige their every whim. That will not be the case from now on. No one is to lay a finger on you. As you are their mate, and this packs future Luna.” He partially began to explain to her.

Sitting there scared and worried, fear coursing through her, “Yes, Alpha.” She finally answered. Resigning herself to whatever was to come. Knowing it could not be worse than what she had already gone through.

“No. We aren’t like that. You will have your own room until you are ready to move into our room. And that will be after we graduate high school or college. You are safe.” They tried reassured her.

“I am a chosen mate. What does it matter?” fearing what they were going to do to her for speaking up.

“No, sweetheart you are not.” Tomas stated confused.

“You are our fated mate.” They told her in unison. This made their father happy as he hadn’t heard them in sync that way in a while.

“What’s a fated mate?” She asked, confused. her eyes started to water from the fear she was experiencing.

“You know the one the goddess gives you. The other half of who you are meant to be. The reason the Goddess created us.”

“Sweetheart, what do you know of our kind?”

“That once we reach a certain age, we gain our wolves. And that since most people don’t even find their given mates anymore, they take chosen ones. Alpha Taylor always said that I could be Milton’s concubine if no one ever took me as theirs. Saying that no one would want a pack slave as a mate anyway, that it was best this way.”

“Grrr.” the twins growled in unison. Hearing their mate claim that someone was going to try and use her as a concubine angered them and their wolves to no end.

“For starters, the only part of that that is correct is about gaining your wolf. The rest of that is nonsense.” Tomas told her. He looked at her with sorrow and pain in his eyes. Knowing that she was going to need to see all the love and hope she could be. The child in front of him had so much stolen from her; including her childhood, he wasn’t going to let anything else be taken.

“I’m sorry, I’m not very smart, I’m only in the same grade as Milton because Alpha Taylor is friends with the principal. I’m sorry, Alpha Enwell, I will do better with my studies.” she started to shake from fear of being hit.

“We will talk about that later.”

“Yes, Alpha.” He pulled her into probably the first hug she’d ever gotten.

“Boys step outside now, please. I need to have a rather private conversation with this young lady alone.” As he still had one more thing that he needed to know from her. Needing to know why she stayed silent if she was so scared of them holding her.

“Yes, Sir.” Stepping out to give them a moment.

“While they were holding you a moment ago you looked scared. But not from fear they were going to hurt you. Why?” he asked her. Hoping to learn that she was sensing the bond between his sons, even just a little.

“It was from not wanting to lose the feeling that they gave me. This feeling of warmth and being free of pain. It was nice.”

“Good. Now let’s go eat. We will finish this all later at home.” Smiling at her to show her there is hope for her future, “Your new home.” She smiled.

POV – Flea Doe

We got out of the car and went inside. I stayed towards the back of the room as I had never been in a place like this. The twins stayed close to me with two warriors. Their presence was somehow putting me at ease. I wasn’t fighting it, it was nice. My wolf and other souls were purring in their presence, which sparked more hope in me than I’d had in long time. ‘They are ours and we are theirs.’ My wolf purred in her happiest voice I’d ever heard from her.

“Come on, we can grab a table while they order the food.” One of the twins told me, I nodded. Realizing that I needed to get to know their first names. “I know that your names were spoken when we first met, I just um… I just stuck with last names.” I spoke softly. “That’s fine. I’m Kallen and he is Stuart. She’s Gustava, every just calls her Gussie. That’s Rachellea, who goes by Chellea.” He smiled as we moved to sit at a table. I couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to do or even say. I felt so stupid.

“Here, sit next to us.” Kallen said. He sat me in between him and Stuart once more. While I felt safe. Which was a new feeling for me, I’m used to being beaten or worse just for breathing.

“Thank you.” I answered, liking how nice is to not be hurt. To feel gentleness.

“Hey, what soda would you like?” Gustava asked me while she held a cup in her hand. “Um… uh… Water is fine” I said. Having never been allowed to have sodas before now, water was more likely my best option. Water, milk or apple juice has literally been the only drinks I’d ever been allowed to have. And milk only when I've been allowed to have cereal. Which wasn’t been all that often.

“You don’t have to have water, everyone got sodas. I will get you something, ok.” she said.

“Yeah.” I felt even more stupid, Once the food was put on the table, I didn’t know what it even was, which showed just how stupid I am. “What’s that?” I asked.

Looking at the strange food placed in front of me, Captain’s logo starred at my from the wrappers. This caused confusion for me. It also brought me more questions. Like if there were places like this, what else is out there? I wanted to know but knew that would eventually mean getting in a car each time, which brought fear.

“It’s fish.” Gustava answered.

I was still confused by what that was. “Fish?” I asked. Not sure what fish meant or even was. Chicken and beef were the only meats I was allowed to deal with back at Black Moon.

“I take it, you didn’t cook a whole lot of fish.”

“I wasn’t allowed to cook foods that required sharp objects for very long unless it was for a special day or guest of the Alpha’s requests. That’s why a lot of the foods you had were made with beef or chicken. I’ve learned different ways to cook chicken without using a knife.” I noticed that no one was freaked out about me saying Alpha too loud. Which meant I was either in trouble or we were on pack lands of some sort. This scared me even more than I already felt.

“That explains some of the scars on your hands. That lack of proper kitchen utensils. Also, there is no need to worry this is the human town just outside of the pack lands; a good ninety percent of them here know of our existence.”

He asked without actually asking the first part. “Yes, Sir.” Shocked that so many humans knew. I was afraid to eat.

“No one is going to hurt you. You can eat.” he reassured me, reaching across and holding my hand.

“Well, if you’d like to learn how to cook other things then we can have someone teach how. But only after you have settled in. This is going to be an adjustment for us all.” Telling me this had me smiling.

“I would like that. Thank you, Alpha Enwell.” I said.

Finally taking a bite of the fish I was given, it tasted really good. I liked it. It was really warm too. Most of the time I had only ever been allowed to have cold leftovers, and only if there were any.

I taught myself how double the some of the recipes used, to make the grocery lists almost double what it once was and make sure that there were some leftovers sometimes. I sat there and ate most of the food that they’d put in front of me, while smiling in the process. I was loving this fish stuff. My favorite thing though are these things called crab cakes. I wanted nothing more than to learn how to make them. I was eating one more when my stomach started to feel pain like never before. I felt sick to my stomach in ways I'd never known, so I got up and ran outside.
