Chapter 2: Scandal

I sighed while looking at my reflection. I smiled forcefully before I wiped my own tears and fixed my composure. I went out of the restroom and forced a smile on my lips when I saw some colleagues.

"Sabrina!" I looked behind me and saw my friend Mary approaching me."Good morning, how are you?" she asked, and we both started to walk in the hallway.

"Good, how about you?" I ask and look in front of us. As soon as I see her look at me, it seems like she's observing my reaction.

"Fine. Anyway, are you alright?" she asks. I look at her and stop walking before I give her a genuine smile.

"Yeah," I said, so she frowned, I knew that frown of her. She's asking me how. So I sigh and look down."Simon and I are now divorced and —"

"Divorced?!" she asked, so I covered her mouth and looked around. Thankfully, there were no other people here since they were already in their own cubicles to work.

"Sorry," she said, sighing. I was just carried away by your news." I nodded at her and continued to walk.

"Well, I see his scandal, and I think everyone in this office knows that, too. Maybe not only here but also in our country since Simon is very powerful and famous. He could even become a showbiz personality if he wanted to," Mary said while walking. I kept my mouth shut while listening to her.

"I am sorry for that," she said, so I smiled at her. I opened the door for us and saw how some of our colleagues looked at me. I swallowed and went straight to my cubicle when my phone rang, so I picked it up from my pocket and answered the call.

"Hello." I then walked back to the door to exit so they could not hear me talking to my sister. I frowned as soon as I heard her sob.

"Lilian, what's wrong?" I ask while frowning.

"Please… please go back home. There are men here who want us to go; they're forcing us to go and pick our things out of our house." I frowned because of that.

"Okay, I will now go home," I said, ending the call. I again entered the door to get my things and tapped Mary on her shoulder.

"There is an emergency. Please excuse me to our boss," I said before I left the room. I immediately booked a cab to ride. My heart was beating so fast while I held my phone. This can't be. I am sure that those men are from Simon.

"Hey, where are you going?" I swallow as I look back and see the CEO of this company. I give him a small smile and bow my head.

"Good morning. I need to go home now. There is an emergency in our house," I said, looking at Triver. He walked closer to me and got his car key in his pocket.

"Do you need a ride?" He asked, so I swallowed and shook my head.

"My cab will be—"

"Cancel the booking now and get inside my car." He commands me to swallow and just follow his orders. I can't think straight now, knowing that my family is in a state like this. Where should we go after this? Am I becoming selfish for choosing myself rather than for the sake of my family?

After minutes of driving, we had already arrived at our house. I saw a man push my sister, so I exited the car and ran towards them.

"Hey! Don't you dare push my sister like that!" I shouted and helped my sister stand; I frowned and looked badly at the man who was getting our things out of our house.

"Why the hell are you doing this, huh?" I asked. A man in a black suit walked before me and handed me an envelope.

"Our boss ordered us so," he said. I took the envelope from his hand and read what was inside. I was right. This is all Simon's doing. He's claiming back the house he built for me and my family. I thought my tears were about to fall, so I bit my lips to stop crying and looked at the man.

"Then inform your man not to hurt my sister. Has he also told you to hurt one of my family members, huh?" I asked and gave him the paperback. The man didn't answer me and just signaled to the other man to continue what they were doing.

"All the things that our boss brought with his own money will be left behind; you can only get the stuff you brought using your own money." The man said, so I laughed in disbelief.

"Where are we going to go now?" Lilian asks, so I look at her and just hug her. I don't know where we should go now.

"Hey, hey. What is happening?" I look up and stop myself from crying. I gave him a small smile as soon as Triver went close to us.

"My ex-husband wants us to leave his property," I said, so he frowned and looked at my sister, who was crying while hugging me.

"Do you have a place to go?" he asks, so I nod even though there is nothing.

"Please leave this place, or our man will forcefully bring you outside the gate." We all looked at the man I spoke with earlier.

"You can't do that," Triver said, so I held his wrist to stop him.

"We can. We have a permit from our boss," the man answers, so Triver laughs in disbelief.

"I want to speak with you—"

"We will go now." I cut his words so they both looked at us. I grabbed the bag where some of our things were before I signaled Lilian to get the other bag. I looked to Triver, who couldn't do anything but look into the man before he grabbed one bag from me.

"They're unbelievable." He commented as soon as we went outside of the gate. We watch the man put some lock on the gate before they leave us. I swallow once more before looking at Triver, who is looking at me.

"Do you want me to drive both of you?" he asked, so I nodded to accept his help. I think I have no choice but to ask my aunt for a week to live in their house.

I hope they accept us.
