Chapter 3: Price for Divorce

"What? You will stay here for a week?" my aunt Esme asked, frowning and looking at me from head to toe before she crossed her arms.

"For what?" she added, and she looked at my sister for a second before she looked back at me."Aren't you married to a billionaire, and you two live in his house? So why do you need to stay here?" she asked. My sister looked at me, so I swallowed and held his arms, but she removed them, so I sighed.

"I'm filing a divorce," I answered, so she frowned even more and clapped her hands while smiling sarcastically.

"Wow, that's really sad." She said sarcastically and shook her head."You really got that attitude from your mother, you don't even think for your future and yet you will go here ask for my help. You don't even give me support during the time that you have money, you don't even ask how am I during the time that you are with your billionaire husband and now you will come here ask for my help, do you think I will help you after all?" She asked and shook her head.

"Of course, I won't. Go find another place to stay. I am sure you have connections just like your husband." After she said that, she closed the door, which made a loud noise. I sighed and looked at my sister.

"Where are we going to stay?" she asked. I didn't answer her; instead, I got my phone and checked my bank account. I sigh once again as I see that there are already centavos left there, and for sure, Simon will get all his money.

"I will find a place," I said, starting to pick up the bags from the ground. I then called Mary. I just wished she could help me.

"Hello, where are you? Our manager is looking for you," Mary said as soon as she answered the call. I just smiled, knowing that she couldn't see it, and scratched my head.

"I went home, my ex-husband kicked us out from the house that we're staying." I said, and I heard her gasping because of what I said.

"Where are you going to stay now? Do you have somewhere to stay?" she asks, and I sigh and look at my aunt's house door.

"Can we stay in your place?" I asked. She paused for a minute so I knew what her answer would be.

"No worries if it's not. I understand." I said and heard him sigh.

"To be honest, I want you to stay in my place, but the landlord won't let me since I am only staying in a dorm." She said, so I nodded and smiled forcefully.

"It's fine. I will take this day to find a place to stay before the night comes," I said, saying goodbye to her before I ended the call.

"Are we going to stay on the road?" my sister asked, so I grabbed her to hug her and looked to the road, as I still saw Triver's car parked on the side.

"What is he still doing here?" I asked, putting down the bags I was holding. Then I went to his car and knocked twice on his window. He slowly closed the window and smiled at me.

"Why are you still here?" I ask, and he looks at my aunt's house for a second before he looks back at me.

"Making sure that they will accept you?" he answered, sighing. I looked down and chuckled because of what he said.

"Well, they don't accept us because I think they're mad that I didn't say hello to them in the past," I jokingly said, and he laughed and leaned into his seat.

"So, where are you going to stay?" he asked. I looked at my sister, who was on the side road, and looked at our bag for a second before I looked at Triver.

"I will look one today. I think my ex-husband is giving me the price of divorcing him." I said, so he looked at my sister and looked back at me.

"I have a penthouse available. No one is occupying that, so maybe you guys can stay there," he said, so I shook my head and gave him a small smile.

"No need. I can't afford to pay the rent for your expensive penthouse, so maybe I will look for a small apartment." I said, and he shook his head and gave me a wide smile.

"Trust me, I won't collect any payment from you." He said, so I frowned.

"I just wanted to help you out, so maybe you can accept it, please?" he said, so I smiled at him and nodded an answer, even without knowing his real intentions for letting us stay in his penthouse. After that conversation with Triver, he drove his car to his penthouse, and this place is near our office, so I think it's a big benefit that he helped us and let us stay here.

"Wow, this is cool." My sister said as soon as we entered Triver's penthouse. She looked at me and smiled. Are we gonna stay here?" she asked, so I looked at Triver, who was smiling while looking at my sister.

"Yeah, you and your sister will stay here as long as you want, and it's free," Triver said, so my sister looked at him with his wide eyes and wide mouth.

"Really? Is this place yours?" she asked Triver. Triver proudly nodded at her before she smiled and embraced him, which shocked him and caused him to look at me.

"Thank you for saving us from being homeless," she said and started to roam inside the penthouse. Triver laughed and looked at me after that.

"How old is your sister?" she asks. I chuckle and cross my arms while looking at him.

"11 years old." I answer, so he shrugs.

"That 11-year-old sister of yours is acting like an adult now," he jokingly said, so I laughed.

"Anyways, there are already groceries here so—"

"What?" I cut him and frowned. I thought no one was using this place?" I asked. He just shrugged and gave me the key to the penthouse.

"Yeah, but I always keep food at my place whenever I am or I am not in that place." He said, so I smiled at him and accepted the key.

"Thank you so much for your kindness. Don't worry; I will give it to you back soon." I said, and he laughed.

"I'll wait for it, then." He said and winked at me.
