Chapter 2 Mixed Feelings
Ellian
She wants to leave?
How is that my business?
"If she wants to leave the pack, she's free to. No one is holding her back, " I viewed.
Her eyes darted at me as she held on to the shawl in her grip.
I know I didn't invite her over, so I presume she came to give her mother that Shawl.
Feeling uncomfortable after learning that she was my mate, I took the Shawl from her hands and said, "Leave."
Her blue eyes shimmered at my words, almost like she was about to cry. I turned my face away from her, hearing her footsteps distancing from me.
By the time I turned over to see, she was gone.
Why will the goddess do this to me?
Why will she play this kind of game on me?
I came out here to be alone, thinking of my lovely Lyanna, who had left me five years ago. Only to feel some kind of pull similar to hers.
"That connection was powerful. It felt just like my late Luna. But I wasn't expecting to see Fiona. And worst of all, she's my mate! Goddess, why?" I groaned, wiping my face with my hand.
"The only one I've considered my mate is Lyanna. She has been my mate even after her death. When I felt that pull and picked that scent, it was like she was here. I could feel my Lyanna again, " I said, walking back towards the path I came from.
"Why make Fiona my mate, goddess? Why fill my heart with hopes of seeing my Lyanna? Her scent is just like hers." I sighed, leaning against the wall.
Not that I hate Fiona. It's just that after learning she was the last person with Lyanna, and that my mate died while saving her, I felt nothing but anger towards her.
Like my people have been saying for five years now, Fiona should have been the one in Lyanna's place, not my Luna taking the fall.
Now all I can do is mourn her death, wishing she never left me.
"Fiona, my mate? What if my people were present and had seen this? How would they have reacted to this bond from the goddess? " I asked myself, picturing the rage my people would have displayed.
"I'm glad Fiona too could see for herself that the bond isn't meant to be. It's unacceptable," I said, walking away.
The day we have all been waiting for finally came. My Luna's remembrance day, a day to mourn that beautiful soul that left us five years ago.
On this day, there's nothing like work but mourning. I declared this day as Lyanna's special day, for everyone to show their love to my late Luna's departed soul.
This is the best I could do to show how much I miss her. If I had the power to bring her back from the dead, I would have done that a long time ago.
"Alpha Elian," Lyanna's parents, walked up to me to comfort my bleeding heart. Both showed their support to be with me during my hurting period.
"We are here for you, " Lyanna's mother said, hugging me.
They must be feeling hurt more than me. Lyanna is their daughter, after all. She was more like the Apple of their eyes.
My Beta came up to me, informing me that the mourning ground had been set.
This arrangement has been made close to my Luna's grave.
Yes, my Lyanna. I had to bury her right here in my home. A beauty with an angelic soul deserves to be buried like a true queen.
Composing myself, I ordered the guards to allow my people in, since it was time to mourn my Lyanna.
"Don't keep them waiting. Do the needful," I instructed.
The gates were opened, and all the pack members came in, all in their mourning attire.
We gathered around, all praying for her soul to find peace.
Amidst their prayers, I could hear some wishing she was alive and Fiona was in the grave instead.
That took my mind to Fiona last night. I feel troubled by the fact that she's my mate.
"It would have been better if you didn't show me that, goddess. Adding salt to my wound isn't called care," I muttered inaudibly.
Just then...
"Get back! I said get back!" Someone yelled from behind, interrupting the ceremony.
We all looked and were left stunned to see Ray!
"Ray?" I called in astonishment.
My guard, who has been in a coma for five years due to that terrible battle. He was found close to the same place my Luna had died.
"Alpha! Alpha, hear me out! " He yelled, making his way to the front.
"What is the meaning of this? " My Beta questioned, finding this action of Ray unacceptable.
I could see my people looking in shock, as they stared at Ray, the guard whom we all thought would never wake up, standing in our midst.
"It's Ray."
"He's alive?"
"Alpha, please forgive my husband's action, but he has something to share with everyone, including you," Ray's wife pleaded, bowing down at me.
A man who has been asleep for five years, suddenly wakes up to speak to me?
"Does that give him the right to barge in like that? Guards! Take him away!" My Beta ordered.
"Why? " I questioned my Beta's order.
"He's interrupting your Luna's remembrance ceremony. He has to go, " My Beta answered.
But before the guards could drag Ray away, he shouted, " I KNOW WHO KILLED LUNA LYANNA!"
My heart skipped on hearing this.
His words shocked my people.
"What?" I stepped forward to hear him, ordering my guards to let him be.
"Yes, Alpha, I saw it all that night. It wasn't Fiona's fault. That innocent girl was at the point of death. She's not at fault," He cried, falling to his knees and crawling to me.
"I saw everything with my own eyes. It wasn't a rogue that killed the Luna; it was the BETA! " Ray pointed at my Beta.
I gazed in horror, taking my gaze on my Beta, who stood by my side, looking stunned.
Did he kill Lyanna?
