Chapter 4: The Strong Orders

Isadora's POV

The guards pushed me to the ground and began to drag me further, but before they could get me very far, Drogan came rushing in front of them, shouting to them to cease.

"That's all!" Drogan bellowed, his tone furious, and his fists clenched tightly.

"We should not have spoken to her like we did!"

But before Drogan could repeat it, Ragnar, our pack alpha, stepped forward, growling loudly.

Challenging my orders as the leader of this great Wolfhaven pack makes no sense, Ragnar said, with rage in his voice.

"It was my instruction." I don't think anybody is going to oppose it."

Drogan stayed in his position, his face set in anger as he challenged the Alpha Ragnar, who was raised and clenched at his sides. He could only glare at the older man angrily, but he was still wise enough not to confront Ragnar.

I joked on the ground, trying to put my thoughts into words as I looked at Ragnar.

What was going on? Why was I treated in a manner that made me seem like a criminal?

Ragnar did not notice the stutter in my voice when I gathered the nerve to ask him.

"What is going on?" "What are we doing here?"

Ragnar looked severe as he continuously stared at me.

"Why did you say that you were pregnant?" He interrupted me and never tried to listen to my explanation.

Ragnar, who was looking severe in the first place, scowled further. That being said, one wonders, ''How come you poisoned Nyxen's cup?''

I fell flat against the ground and wondered what accusations were being thrown against me. The cup of Nyxen is poisoned. Was I right when I said that I was pregnant?

Honestly, I couldn't have a clue what Ragnar meant.

"What on earth..." I croaked as I reluctantly tried to rise to a sitting position. Some of the things that can help include the fact that I did none of those things.

Ragnar locked his gaze on me, looking stoic as he glared down at me. "Isadora cut off the act of not knowing. We have information."

The door opened, and my doctor entered as the words 'I didn't steal it' formed on my lips. Ragnar looked at the boy who walked towards him with a severe expression.

"I need to correct," he said, blushing at me slightly as if asking for forgiveness. One day, Your Luna approached me directly and asked me to give her a pregnancy test.

That is why I became stunned, and I never believed what my ears were hearing. They say there is nothing as sweet as the taste of success, and at that moment, I wondered why my doctor was telling me lies about me. I switched my look from him to Ragnar, and it was as if everything I knew was falling apart right before me.

"Oh no, it's not," I murmured, feeling as confused as I was about events taking place. "How come you would be so presumptuous to say that?"

The doctor's face showed sadness, but his tone remained steady as he repeated the story: 'Sorry, Isadora, but this is the truth. Indeed, you asked me for fake results.'

I could not believe what had transpired. It was as if I was in a bad dream, and it was impossible to wake up and free myself of the false accusations and plots that were being made against me.

To Ragnar's face, I stared, pleading with my eyes to let them understand that I was not guilty of the charges levelled against me. I found myself lost and shattered.

What struck me most was when a maid named Danika appeared from the crowd and offered Ragnar a handkerchief.

"It is Isadora," said Danika. "She lost it here when she put the poison into Nyxen's cup."

It was a moment I could only describe as feeling like the wind had been taken out of my sail. Danika was lying, and the whole purpose of her lying became clear.

I inhaled deeply to calm my frayed nerves before I addressed the doctor. Ragnar, please, I am not the one who poisoned the cup Nyxen drank. I don't even harm a child or any individual, for that matter.

But Nyxen leapt to the rhythm before I could finish and ran towards me with tears on her face.

"You are a liar, Isadora! When I got pregnant, you bore envy! You wish to hurt my child because of jealousy, as I will give Ragnar an heir. "

I couldn't bear to remain in that situation any longer. The injustice of the problem, the lies, and the accusations all seemed to come down upon me like a tidal wave. Suddenly, I found myself charging forward, my fingers locked in Nyxen's hair, pulling her close before fully comprehending what I was doing.

"Oh, don't you dare lie to me!" I yelled back at him.

'You have always wanted to be a Luna like me, and that is why you are conspiring against me and trying to turn Ragnar against me. You are scared I will take what you think rightfully belongs to you.'

Ragnar seized me by the arm and pulled me away from the crazed woman known as Nyxen; she was screaming and clutching her middle.

'It burns! My child! When Isadora realised what she had done, she exclaimed, "What is this?"

Everyone looked directly at me, their faces twisted into shock and reproach. I did not see that, but they were conscious of my guilty expression.

"She's holding me! This woman," said Nyxen, struggling to aim at me with her finger, "wanted to kill me and the unborn child of the leader of our kind, Ragnar!"

I felt the same, as if walls were slowly closing on me. Instantly, I looked at Drogan for comfort, but his face was sad.

He chastely looked at Isadora and said, "I do not know you anymore. What have you become?"

An awful feeling of despair rose within me at that moment: was every person sure I was dangerous for a child? Could somebody not comprehend that I was not guilty?

"Please, Ragnar, you have to trust me," I said, sounding pathetic and worried.

"I did not do this. Have I ever harmed anybody in my life, let alone a child?"
