Chapter 5 What exactly do you want from me?
Genevieve's POV
Today is Saturday and Noah and I were going to the park, he's been wanting to go for a very long time and I promised to take him for a fun filled day today once I was able to take a leave from work.
I told Doctor Ryan yesterday that I was sick and would return to work on Monday as soon as I was much better. Luckily for me he approved my sick leave, probably because I hardly missed work. Barb was glad that I was taking a break even though it's for two days. She said I should enjoy my weekend with my family without stress and worry.
I was glad that he approved my leave because I wouldn't want to let Noah down or see him sad, he's been telling me stories that his friends told him about their visit to the park, he wanted to get on the ferris wheel and get on the carousel and eat ice cream.
I wanted to turn today to a family outing but Mom had work and grandmother had a migraine and stayed back at home, so it was down to Noah and I.
The truth is I really needed this little outing it served as a great distraction from what has been happening in my life lately. I can't seem to understand why those men are still following me around because I feel it in my guts that they're the ones keeping an eye on me and my family constantly, and monitoring my every move.
I did everything they asked of me that night even though I didn't know anything about them, I didn't even know their names or the name of the green eyed man I treated. I didn't even tell anyone what happened because I didn't want to be involved with whatever business they had.
Calling the police was out of the question because I told them that I won't say anything about that night plus the fact that I didn't have any strong evidence against them.
I just want to enjoy my day with Noah and take my mind off this matter, and I didn't want to ruin his fun day with being moody and sad.
"Noah be more careful you'll trip and hurt yourself." Grandma said.
I watch with a smile on my face as Noah dashed down the stairs dressed in a pink T shirt and cute denim shorts with white sneakers, his soft dark hair combed back away from his adorable face.
"I won't trip Grandma, I have strong feet," he said smiling.
"I know dear child but be careful," grandma laughs.
"Okay.. I will promise." Noah replies.
"You're such a talker Noah, do you have your sweater in case it gets chilly out there?" I crouch buttoning his pink shirt.
"Yes" he raises up his hand revealing his blue sweater.
"Good boy, I'll hold on to it." I collect the sweater from him.
"Do you have everything you need?" Grandma asked walking over to us.
"Mhmm." I nod.
"Okay.. promise me you'll be careful at the park Noah, don't get a boo-boo," she said looking down at Noah.
"I pinky promise grandma," he holds up his pinky making a pinky promise to grandma.
"Okay," grandma smiles ruffling his hair as Noah giggles.
"Are you certain you'll be okay all alone?" I asked.
"Don't be a worry Evie, I'll be quite alright you two go have fun okay?" She smiles.
"Okay." I hug her."We'll go ahead grandma, Noah say goodbye to grandma." I pull away from her.
"Good bye grandma," Noah hugs her before she pecks him on his rosy chubby cheek before standing back up and Noah held on to my hand.
"Goodbye dearie, see you later," she waves at us as we walk out the front door heading to my car, I opened the passenger seat and Noah enters before I fastened the seatbelt around him shutting the door.
Heading to the driver's seat, I stop and discreetly look around but I didn't see the black car, I open the car door and entered fastening my seatbelt.
"Bye grandma," Noah waves at her smiling as she waves back at us.
"See you later grandma," I wave before driving away from our driveway.
"See you later, drive safely," she says before she entered the house shutting the front door.
We got to the amusement park thirty minutes later. Noah's excitement was very palpable when we arrived that he couldn't sit still in his seat.
"Yay…we're here Genevieve," he said with glee looking out the window. I smile at his cute display of great delight.
"Wow..look at that," he points at the huge ferris wheel.
"Yes, that looks fun." I said unfastening my seatbelt.
"I wanna go on the ferris wheel Genevieve, can we go please?" He said making puppy eyes.
Noah knows that I can never refuse him whenever he makes that adorable face with his large brown eyes that's why he always gets everything he wants from me.
"Of course we can, we'll go later." I announced.
"Yayy… thank you Genevieve," he giggles.
" How can I ever say no to you? you're just too adorable." I tug at his cheek smiling at him.
I took my purse and got down from my car and went around to Noah's side and opened his car door before unfastening his seatbelt, he steps out of the car before holding onto my hand.
We both walked hand in hand into the amusement park. You could see lots of children playing and laughing excitedly in the park along with their parents or guardians.
When we got in Noah immediately wanted to go for the Bumper car ride first. Which I agreed to, Noah was very excited with the car ride before we headed over to the Carousel, Noah was laughing and squealing in excitement, his cute face shone with happiness on the carousel ride.
I'm really glad that Noah is having the time of his life and I was laughing riding the horse behind Noah on the carousel, It was quite a fun experience riding the carousel. My smile drops when suddenly I felt like there was someone watching me, I looked behind me and saw nobody strange, I looked around the area where the carousel was but I still didn't find anyone strange.
Maybe my mind's playing tricks on me again.
I shook off that thought and focused on Noah and the carousel. We came down after the ride was over.
"Can we go over to that one?" Noah said excitedly pointing at the bouncy castle.
"Okay, let's go." I replied.
"I want to pee first," he said.
"Come on I'll take you to the restroom."
"No.. I'm a big boy now I can do it," he replied.
"Noah, you can get missing here in the park. Let me take you."
"The restroom's over there, you can wait here," he points behind me.
"Can I go now please?" He asks once more already hopping on his little feet.
I look at him for a while before I agreed. "Okay fine but I'll stand close to the door okay?" I said.
"Okay," he said rushing to restroom and shutting the door behind him.
I stood a few paces away from the restroom. I was waiting for Noah when the hairs on my body stood out, I got that feeling of being watched again. I looked up looking around this time my eyes landed on that bulky man that abducted me and took me to treat the other guy that night. My breathing became heavier, fear gripped me as he stood there watching me dressed in a black suit, his face stoic and emotionless.
My instincts were saying, Find Noah and get out of here immediately.
I quickly entered the restroom and started searching for Noah, but I couldn't find him in any of the stalls in the empty restroom. Panic filled me when I didn't see him, I dashed out of the restroom quickly. I didn't see that man but I saw some weird guys approaching me as I sprinted away from that place searching for Noah.
"Noah! Noah… where are you?!" I screamed tears filling my eyes.
"Noah! Noah!" I screamed still running and looking at all the children screaming and playing around in the park. I looked behind me and saw that the men were still advancing towards me.
What am I going to do? Where's my little brother? Did those men take him?
I kept on running looking frantically for him with tears escaping my eyes.
Oh God.
I turn around looking behind me, I didn't see those men anymore, I was sniffling looking around for my little brother.
"Noah! Noah where are you?" Sobs escaped my throat as I couldn't see Noah anywhere.
I walked further down towards the ice cream truck, still crying looking around until my eyes fell on Noah a bit far from where I stood in front of the ice cream truck holding hands with a tall man who's back was to me.
Oh thank God.
I sighed in relief heading over to him, the man gave him an ice cream cone, he smiles up at the man. He starts eating the ice cream he smiles when his eyes falls on me.
"Genevieve," he calls out to me excitedly still holding onto the mystery man's hand.
I rush over to them coming in between him and the man, I hugged his small body tightly, closing my eyes in relief at finding him.
"Genevieve you'll ruin my ice cream," he giggles.
"Where were you? I was loosing my mind looking all over for you Noah."
"Don't ever do that to me again, you nearly gave me a heart attack Noah." I said to him backing the man.
"I'm so sorry if I made you worry Genevieve, I won't do it again," he says looking sorry.
"Do you pinky promise?" I hold up my pinky to him.
"I pinky promise Genevieve," he says linking his pinky with mine.
"It's okay, I'm not mad at you. I'm just glad you're okay." I ruffle his hair playfully.
"Mhmm, and I met your friend," he says eating his ice cream.
I tilt my head to the side narrowing my eyes at him. "My friend?" I shake my head not understanding him.
I didn't have friends, just Barb and a few nurse I say hi abd hello to at the hospital.
"Mhmm," he bobs his head again. "Lorenzo, he's the one that bought me the ice cream. He's behind you." he points at the man he's been holding onto that's behind me.
"Hello Genevieve."
I froze at that familiar deep voice behind me my heart hammering in my chest as blood drained from my face. It's only been a few days but then I remember that voice very well. I don't think I can forget his voice in a hurry.
I slowly got up from my crouching position and turned towards the owner of the voice. I came face to face with that green eyed man I treated a few days ago.
He was dressed in a black dress shirt with rolled up sleeves and black dress pants with matching well polished shoes. His dark hair was styled to perfection, his green eyes were staring right at me.
What is he doing here? And with Noah.
"Wh..what are you doing h-here?" I stuttered putting Noah behind me.
He didn't reply he just stood there towering over me his gazed locked on my face.
"Please.. I did what you asked me to do. I didn't say anything so please.. leave me alone." I said tears building in my eyes.
"Are you sure about that?" he asked fixing me with his piercing green eyes.
"Yes, I did what you asked of me. I didn't tell anyone not even the authorities so please I'm begging you," I implored once more.
"Why don't I believe you?" He cocks his head to the side, walking over to me as I take a step back still holding onto Noah.
"I'm telling you the truth, you have to believe me," tears fell from my eyes.
He looks at me for a while. "Okay," he said.
"Thank you." I replied. Turning to leave with Noah when his words stopped me in my tracks.
"Not so fast Genevieve, there's something you'll do for me." he said with a straight face.
"And I'm not asking," he added with an impassive face.
I turn towards him, I met his guards a few feet away from him. I hold onto Noah behind me, fear written across my pale face.
Mustering up a little bit of courage I asked.
"What exactly do you want from me?"
