Chapter 6

Eleanora's POV

"Finally, I'd be a gamma!" Ethan chanted for the millionth time that morning as Mom and Dad kept laughing. My expression remained blank, suddenly remembering Alaric's threat.

I gaped at my brother, Ethan, tears almost stung my eyes as I watched him smile with happiness. I knew this has been his dream—To finally be a gamma to Creek Valley pack, but why Alaric?

For Christ's sake, he shouldn't be the one!

"Ele, come serve the dishes on the table." Mom called, jolting me out of my thoughts. I nodded frantically. "Yes, Mom." I hollered as I emerged from the living room to the kitchen.

As I washed the dishes, my mind reeled with different thoughts and my eyes flickered with what looked like a confusion.

Was Alaric doing this deliberately by granting Ethan a chance for the Gamma position?

"He can't, it's not possible." I muttered to myself, shaking the thoughts out of my head. Subconsciously, a plate fell from my grasp and clattered to the floor.

"Ele!" Ethan rushed to the kitchen as I stood pinpoint on my spot, watching as my fingers drained out blood, sending shivers down my spine.

"Ele, are you okay? You're bleeding!"

"I'm fine. It's nothing," I managed a small smile at him, but I could tell he wasn't convinced. "You are not okay, Ele. Is there something bothering you?" Ethan's eyes gleamed with worry, concern etched on his face.

I sighed softly. "If I ask for this favor, will you fulfill it?" I asked, almost at the brink of tears. Ethan stared at me equally, quirking his brows at me. "Ask,"

"Decline your training." I blurted, unable to stop myself. Ethan yanked his hands from me, his eyes flashing something I couldn't decipher.

"Have you gone insane, Eleanora? Did you just realize what you asked of me?" He asked incredulously, staring at me defiantly. I bit my lips hard enough that I could feel its copper taste in my mouth.

"Are you going to give in or not?" I rebutted, my fingers which were bleeding earlier suddenly stopped bleeding and dried up.

My lips twitched into a smile. This was one of the powers the Moon Goddess had given to me.

My brother eyed me for a long time and scoffed loudly. "I'm not giving into anything, Ele. You of all people should know this has been my dream."

"I know..."

"Then stop being ridiculous!" He cut me off and marched out of the kitchen without sparing me a glance.

"Ele! The dishes!"

"I'll be right there in a jiffy!"

Oh, Moon Goddess—I just hoped everything goes well. Seeing my brother getting hurt would be the last thing on my list.

Damn you, Alaric Armani.

. . . .

"Woah, you were so cool back there, Ele!" Hazel exclaimed as we flew past the hallway to where our next English 101 lecture would be held. I rolled my eyes and shrugged. "That was nothing. Those bullies deserved what came for them."

"Your powers, I want to see them tonight."

"What? No! We can't do that, Hazel!"

"Oh come on, don't be a dimwit, friend." Hazel purred, pouting her lips. That was one of the tricks she uses to lure me into doing something, but this time, it went astray.

"No can't do, Hazel. Let's get to class to avoid professor Lan bombarding us with questions of today's lecture." I groaned in-between, and she snickered. Students flew past us, finding their various halls while we did the same.

Just in time when we thought we've reached our hall, I bumped into a hard masculine chest, the familiar scent of leather invading my sense of smell.

Alexis!

His orbs pierced into mine, absently minding the fact that Hazel wasn't left out. I expected him to walk away without a word, but something flashed in his eyes as his lips parted. "I'm sorry,"

Someone hold me. I was going to collapse!

Did Alexis just speak to me?

He should be mad and disappointed in me, wasn't he? He should have known by now that I wasn't his mate, but his elder brother's, shouldn't he?

"Hm, it's alright." I managed an awkward smile, and attempted to leave again when he called. "It's been long, don't you think, Nora?"

Nora? He was the only one who calls me that. I felt my heart sank into the deepest part of my stomach which knotted with excitement while my expression coiled with fear.

"Hazel, go to class, I'll come join you." I said to my friend, Hazel, without taking my eyes off Alexis, who wore an unexpected calm expression. "Okay." She mumbled, and turned to leave.

Strangely, the hallway became dried, and an eccentric feeling wracked through me .

"I don't understand." I tried to control my emotions, making sure I didn't appear as weak as he thought of me. Despite Alexis being my crush throughout the years of my life in the pack, never for once, had he stood up for me but rather bullies me together with his friends.

Who would have thought that same Alexis would be apologizing...first?

"I mean, it's been long we communicated this way. How have you been?" He asked, his eyes lingering on every part of my body as if staring at me with degradation.

"As you can see, I'm perfectly fine."

Surprisingly, I felt weird having a communication with someone like him. I wanted out of the web I created. I was once a girl who was ready to fall on my knees and worship his little member that strained in his pants, but not anymore... Strange, I know.

"I have to go or else I'd be late for lectures," I zoned out with the hope of walking away but almost immediately, he said again, this time, causing me to halt in my tracks.

"What happened last night? Tell me it wasn't real, was it?" He asked, but I didn't bother to spare him another glance, and without a second thought, I walked away completely.

What the heck was his problem?
