Chapter 11 Stop Talking About Genitals All the Time

The handsome guy said, "I wasn't laughing at you. I just thought of something funny. That man isn't worth it. With your looks and charm, you'll find another man in no time."

I replied, "I'm temporarily allergic to men."

David chimed in, "Mr. Smith will come back. Just wait a little longer."

"No need." I walked straight to the door, found a nearby shared bike, and rode off.

My phone rang on the way, but I ignored it and kept riding. I knew it was James calling.

When I got home, I found over a dozen missed calls, three from Sophia and the rest from James.

I called Sophia back, and she quickly answered, asking first, "Are you okay? Did you really go to register for marriage with James? I was so worried you'd be devastated when he stood you up."

"Why would I be devastated? I expected it; I'm just not happy about it. How long has Ava been pregnant?" I was more concerned about this. Ava could never be a member of the Smith family, but the son she had with James could.

"They were talking in the emergency exit. I only heard a few arguments. I couldn't see them, but I suspect they were hugging and kissing. It's disgusting!" Sophia lowered her voice, probably still eavesdropping nearby.

I shrugged, my tone indifferent, "I don't care anymore." They already have a child together; why would I care about a moment of intimacy?

"I want this child, no matter what!" Ava's voice suddenly came through, sounding agitated.

It seemed James didn't want the child. He said something, but it was too quiet for me to hear.

"James is ridiculous. He said he only wants children born from his wife," Sophia said.

James probably felt he hadn't done anything wrong and hadn't betrayed me.

Sophia suddenly hung up, likely because something happened over there. She texted me at noon to say she wasn't caught by James, but the deputy director busted her for slacking off and sent her back to work.

Sophia: [I'm so bored! There aren't many patients in the urology department!]

[Don't mention your department; I can't help but laugh.] I had already laughed at her when I first heard she was assigned there.

Later, I heard that even though there were few male patients, some would request a male doctor upon seeing her.

Sophia complained at the time, "I don't mind them, but they mind me being a female doctor. Their penises are thin, short, and soft. I don't want to look at them!"

I laughed at that time, "They're just afraid of embarrassing themselves in front of you."

Sophia sighed, "In urology, I'm used to examining male patients. Honestly, only really huge or tiny penises catch my eye. Everything else is just flesh to me."

"Let's change the subject. Let's not keep discussing genitals," I said with a wry smile.
