Chapter 7

Margaret didn't expect Leonard to come; shouldn't he be at the hospital right now?

Leonard had finished a bunch of surgeries today and was exhausted.

He opened his phone and looked at the address and door code Margaret had sent him, feeling a surge of indescribable emotion.

Scrolling down, he saw the message she had sent in the afternoon saying she was going to the mall to buy some things.

Thinking she probably didn't drive today, he came over in his Hyundai.

He didn't expect to witness such a historic moment.

"Ran into a jerk?"

Leonard's words were infuriating, spoken in the calmest tone but with the most sarcastic remarks.

Margaret lowered her eyes, "It's nothing, let's go."

Just as she was about to step forward, she saw Stella standing next to Howard, saying, "Ah! My stomach hurts so much, Howard, I think I just hit my stomach, can you take me to the hospital, please!"

Stella's face was scrunched up, looking extremely uncomfortable.

Margaret naturally didn't believe she was really in pain, as she had used such tricks many times before.

She took Leonard's arm and said, "Let's go, there are too many disgusting people here."

Howard and Layla were both worried, "Stella, are you okay? Where does it hurt?"

Stella's face was pale from the pain, and she could only shake her head, "Just take me to the hospital, it really hurts, please, Howard."

Howard felt a sharp pain in his heart and without a word, he picked up the petite Stella, glancing at Margaret, "If anything happens to Stella, I will make you pay a thousand times over!"

Margaret was speechless, and Leonard gave Howard a cold look, "Get through me first before you touch her."

He spoke up for her, making Margaret feel a subtle sweetness in her heart.

Back home, as soon as they opened the door, the aroma of food wafted in.

Leonard looked at the prepared dishes on the dining table, a bit surprised.

"I made these earlier and covered them. We can just heat them up. I didn't know what you like, so I made some dishes according to my taste. If you don't like them, I'll make something else next time."

Margaret had grown up in John's house, and although John didn't let her cook much, she felt she could do something.

Cooking wasn't difficult for her, so she liked to try it when she was home. She could handle simple home-cooked dishes.

She changed into slippers and took out a brand new pair of men's slippers from the shoe cabinet.

Hers were red, and the men's were blue, clearly a matching pair.

"Try these on, they should fit!"

She went to the kitchen and reheated the dishes, making the aroma even stronger.

"Sit down, I'll handle it!"

She turned to Leonard, who was standing behind her, and spoke.

Leonard watched her busy figure for a while before sitting down at the dining table.

"Try this fish."

Margaret placed a piece of fish in Leonard's bowl, and seeing him frown slightly, she was taken aback.

"The utensils are new and unused."

She thought he might be concerned about cleanliness, given that he was a doctor and might have a bit of a cleanliness obsession.

Leonard's expression softened, "I'm allergic to fish."

Margaret was startled and quickly removed the fish, "Sorry, I didn't know you were allergic to fish. Try something else!"

He had frowned not because of cleanliness but because he couldn't eat fish.

Leonard picked up his utensils and said lightly, "Thank you for your effort."

On their first day of marriage, she had gone shopping and cooked by herself, making Leonard feel a bit guilty.

Margaret smiled, "It's no trouble at all. Since we're married, we should support each other. You work hard, so I can cook, it's no big deal."

If she had time, she would cook. There was no need to be so particular between a couple.

Margaret's cooking was quite good, and Leonard enjoyed it, except for the fish, he tried almost everything.

After the meal, he offered to wash the dishes, which Margaret found commendable. Leonard seemed responsible so far.

When he finished washing the dishes, she called him over from the sofa, "Dr. Graham, come here for a moment!"

She had dimples when she smiled, looking a bit cute.

Leonard walked over in his slippers and sat down next to her, leaving some space between them.

"Dr. Graham, although we're married, I think it's necessary to clarify some things since we're not very familiar with each other yet, right?"

Leonard raised an eyebrow, "Hmm."

His response was a soft hum from his nose, gentle like a feather, stirring Margaret's heart.

His voice was so pleasant!

"Here's the thing, I wrote down some post-marriage rules. Take a look, and if you agree, sign it. I've already signed."

Leonard looked at the A4 paper on the table, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

"Rules?"

Margaret nodded repeatedly.

"Yes, like the first rule, we won't disturb each other at home. Without the other's permission, we can't force any intimate contact, including but not limited to kissing, hugging, and sleeping together."

"Second, we won't interfere with each other's decisions. We should give each other enough freedom and space. Of course, try to avoid conflicts and resolve them peacefully if possible."

After saying this, Margaret glanced at Leonard, who showed no reaction, and pouted.

"Third, no excessive exposure at home. For example, not wearing clothes after a shower. Even just exposing the upper body is not allowed!"

This rule was for herself, as men liked to go shirtless.

If it got hot in the summer and he came out with just a towel after a shower, what would she do?

That would be too awkward.

"And the last rule, we each have our own bedroom. This house isn't big, but it has two bedrooms. Without the other's permission, we can't enter each other's bedroom. Knock before entering."

These rules were mostly because Leonard was a man.

After all, men and women aren't equal.

If he ever tried to do something to her, she couldn't resist. Better to be safe than sorry.

"Dr. Graham, if you have no objections and nothing to add, just sign it!"

She pushed the pen towards him.

Leonard yawned after she finished speaking.

"I had a lot of surgeries today, and I'm very tired. Can I sleep first and discuss this tomorrow?"
