Chapter 4

"Alright, but I need an extra five percent of the shares," Shirley said, her tone firm.

Michael's face darkened, and he looked like he was about to explode. "How dare you ask for that many shares!"

Helen Johnson, Michael's youngest daughter, chimed in with a smirk. "Seriously, Shirley, how dare you ask Dad for so many shares?"

Shirley shot Helen a sideways glance. "I'm still a Johnson, remember? If I go public and tell everyone you only gave me ten percent, people will think you're treating me unfairly. That could stir up some bad press and mess with your project, right?"

She then raised an eyebrow at Helen. "Why don't you cozy up to Mr. Garcia from the Garcia Group? Maybe then you'll get your five percent."

Helen's face twisted with anger. "You're just a nobody. What makes you think you can compare to me? I'm about to marry into the Thompson Family, the top family in Frostholm."

Shirley smirked. "What if the Thompsons found out your mom was a home-wrecking maid? Think they'd still let you marry in?"

Helen, furious, raised her hand to slap Shirley. But Shirley was quicker. She slapped Helen first, her eyes cold and sharp.

Helen clutched her face, screaming, "How dare you hit me!"

Anna, watching the scene, had a flash of malice in her eyes but quickly masked it with a smile. "Helen, you shouldn't talk to Shirley like that. She's working hard to secure this big project for the Johnson Family; she deserves more shares."

"Mom! How can you side with her?" Helen whined.

Anna gave Helen a stern look, and Helen fell silent.

Just then, a tall, handsome man walked in. Shirley looked up, her body tensing. She hadn't expected to see him here.

'What's he doing here? Is he from the family Helen mentioned, the top family in Frostholm?' Shirley wondered, her eyes meeting Kenneth's. 'Is he Helen's fiancé?'

Kenneth looked just as surprised to see Shirley. His eyes narrowed, cold and distant.

Anna's voice broke the tension. "Mr. Thompson, you must be mistaken. She's a relative's daughter."

Anna smiled and pushed Helen towards Kenneth. "This is my youngest daughter, Helen."

Shirley was stunned. 'Kenneth is Helen's fiancé?' She laughed, realizing the absurdity. The man she'd been with for a year was not only from the top family in Frostholm but also Helen's fiancé.

Michael, worried Shirley might ruin Helen's engagement, quickly said, "Shirley, we're busy with Helen's fiancé today, so we won't keep you for dinner. Let's meet tomorrow night at the Bourbon Street Lounge. Lisa will go with you." Shirley agreed so easily that it made Michael uneasy. He insisted Lisa accompany her.Shirley curled her lips into a wicked smile. "Alright! One night for ten million dollars sounds fair!"
