Chapter 5

When Kenneth heard that, he looked up at Shirley, totally shocked. He always knew she was all about the money, but he didn't think she'd be so quick to jump to another guy right after leaving him.

"Her family's company is in deep trouble, so she's just freaking out and talking nonsense. I'll go with her. The Johnson Family is super strict; we wouldn't let her sleep around like that." Anna rushed over to Shirley, grabbing her shoulder, worried Shirley might mess up Kenneth and Helen's engagement.

"Don't touch me. The one you need to suck up to is Helen's fiancé." Shirley slapped Anna's hand away and stepped aside, disgusted. She thought, 'These are the hands that poisoned Jessica. No way I'm letting them touch me.'

Shirley shot Anna a dirty look and started to walk away. As she passed Kenneth, he blocked her path. She looked up, locking eyes with Kenneth.

Kenneth's eyes were dark and intense. His voice was icy. "You should apologize."

Shirley was so mad she burst out laughing. "No chance." She kicked Kenneth and snapped, "Get out of my way."

Kenneth took the hit but grabbed Shirley's arm. She frowned and glared at him, meeting his cold, angry eyes.

Shirley tried to yank her arm free, but Kenneth's grip was too strong. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't break free. She stopped struggling, gritted her teeth, and glared at Kenneth, thinking he was trying to crush her.

Suddenly, something clicked in Shirley's mind. She looked up at Kenneth, her eyes cold and her lips curling into a sly smile. "Do you want to spend ten million bucks to sleep with me too?"

Kenneth's eyes narrowed, and his brows furrowed, angry at her rudeness.

Helen was thrilled to see Kenneth standing up for her family, thinking she'd be happy marrying him. "Kenneth, she's just rude. All she does is drink and fight. She was raised poorly. Her mother was driven to death by her."

A cold glint flashed in Shirley's eyes as she quickly tapped a few spots on Kenneth's body. Kenneth let go of her hand, looking at Shirley with surprise and confusion.

Seeing the confusion in his eyes, Shirley coldly glanced at each member of the Johnson Family, turned, and walked towards her sports car.

Shirley drove like a maniac, speeding to blow off steam. After a while, she finally calmed down. When she got home, she saw a message from her best friend, Sophie Harper: [Evidence is all set. When do we move?]

Shirley replied: [Wait for my signal.]

Sophie was her rock. The year Jessica died, Sophie tried to cheer Shirley up every day, worried she'd be too sad.

When Anna trapped Shirley in the Johnson Villa, Sophie would sneak over to tutor her. Every holiday, Sophie would pretend to be kicked out by her family to stay with Shirley for a few days. The clinic Shirley secretly opened was also under Sophie's name.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Shirley put down her phone and got up to answer it. The doorbell rang again, and the person outside seemed really impatient.

Shirley frowned. "I'm coming." As soon as she opened the door, Kenneth barged in and grabbed her by the neck.

Shirley grabbed his wrist and looked up to see Kenneth's dark, stormy face. Shirley was annoyed. "Kenneth Thompson, are you nuts? You grabbed my arm at the Johnson Villa, and now you're here to choke me."

Kenneth's eyes were locked on Shirley, his deep eyes cold, his voice frosty. "I told you we shouldn't see each other again, yet you still went to the Johnson Villa."

Shirley was annoyed. "Mr. Thompson, didn't you hear that I'm their relative?" Kenneth squinted, clearly not buying it.

At that moment, Shirley's phone rang. She pushed Kenneth away and answered the call. Michael's voice came through. "Shirley! I told you the wrong time! It's tonight, not tomorrow night. Mr. Garcia is waiting for you! Hurry up."

Shirley quickly agreed, "Okay! I'm on my way." She glared at Kenneth and turned to leave.

Kenneth pulled her into his arms, kicked the door shut, and roughly threw her onto the bed, pinning her down.
