Chapter 4 You Really Disgust Me

Emily didn't look at her; she calmly withdrew her hand and fixed her gaze on Ethan. "Ethan, I did try to win you back, but I wouldn't stoop so low as to drug you to sleep with you. You could have easily found out the truth, but you chose to make me bear the responsibility."

Even though Ethan knew full well that her traumatic childhood had left her with a psychological shadow and she was extremely averse to sex.

"I never gave up because I was afraid that one day the Ethan who loved me deeply would come back and blame me for not trying hard enough for our relationship," Emily said, taking a divorce agreement from her bag and placing it in front of Ethan. "Now, I've tried. He won't blame me anymore. Ethan, rest assured; I won't bother you anymore."

Ethan glanced at the divorce agreement, frowning slightly. This wasn't the one he had left in the apartment.

Emily said, "I will wait for the police to prove my innocence and for you to publicly apologize to me."

Emily looked at Ethan, took out a pen, and solemnly signed her name on the agreement under his gaze.

After signing, she looked up. "See you at the courthouse in a month. We'll get the divorce."

Emily raised her glass to Ethan, holding back her tears. "Ethan, happy birthday!"

The last time she wished him a happy birthday. She downed the glass of wine in one gulp and turned to leave.

"Emily!" Hubert chased after her.

Ethan picked up the divorce agreement, his brows furrowing.

This divorce agreement was indeed not the one he drafted. Ethan had clearly left enough money for Emily in his version of divorce agreement to ensure she would be financially secure for the rest of her life.

Someone nearby yelled, "Emily's leaving with nothing? No car, no house, no shares? And she's gonna pay back two years of medical bills? Is this for real? Maybe she's got some plan. Bet she'll be back bugging Ethan in no time!"

Ethan used to think that as long as Emily was around, Amy would never really accept him. Every day, he was obsessed with cutting ties with Emily for good. The marriage certificate felt like a chain, and Emily was the roadblock to his happiness. But now, looking at the divorce papers, he wasn't as thrilled as he thought he'd be.

Just then, Amy called. Ethan saw her name on the screen and smiled. He answered while pushing open the door. "Amy!"

Amy was in the hall and spotted Emily. She strutted over and said, "Emily, has the truth about the drugging come out? You should call the cops."

Emily smiled at Amy. "Thanks for believing in me. I've already called the police. Amy, I wish you and Ethan a lifetime of happiness together."

Ethan didn't buy it, but Amy did, whether or not Emily was sincere.

Amy asked nervously, "Has Ethan got his memory back?"

Emily shook her head. "I don't know. I gave him the divorce papers. I'm letting go."

Before Amy could respond, Ethan suddenly showed up and pulled Amy over.

Ethan didn't want them talking; he was scared Emily would bring up the drugging incident.

Ethan wrapped his arm around Amy's waist and headed towards a private room. "Amy, let's go inside first!"

Amy took a step back and smiled. "Ethan, I've got something to do. I can't join you. Happy birthday!"

Ethan gently grabbed her wrist, frowning and pleading softly, "Amy, can't it wait until tomorrow? It's my birthday. Stay with me, please?"

Seeing she wasn't needed, Emily turned to leave.

Amy glanced at her, then turned to Ethan. "I'm sorry, Ethan, I really have something to do. I'll say it again; when you get your memory back, if you still feel the same, then I'll be with you wholeheartedly! I don't want you to regret it later and blame me."

Hearing this, Ethan got angry. He frowned and asked, "What nonsense has Emily been telling you?"

The veins on Ethan's forehead bulged. Before Amy could speak, he stepped forward and grabbed Emily, making her stumble. He then gave her a hard shove. "Emily! What did you say to Amy? You disgust me!"

"Emily!" Amy exclaimed.

With that hard shove, Emily was caught off guard and hit her head on the marble pillar in the club's lobby. She collapsed to the ground, blood streaming from her forehead.
