Chapter 2

Howard's breathing got all heavy. He grabbed her hand that was moving downward and said in a raspy voice, "It's late, let's do it tomorrow..."

"I want it now!" Elisa, who usually went along with whatever Howard wanted, decided to be a bit stubborn this time.

She expertly kissed Howard's lips and neck, moving downward. Before long, they were both naked.

Howard let out a satisfied moan, flipped over, and pinned Elisa beneath him. As he reached for the condoms in the drawer, Elisa grabbed his hand.

With a flushed face, Elisa looked at him and suggested, "Let's skip them. Let's have a baby."

Howard froze. He heard the slight complaint in Elisa's voice, "Our parents are on our case. If we keep using these, when will we ever have a kid?"

At the mention of a baby, the desire in Howard's eyes vanished.

He looked down at Elisa coldly and said, "Is it them pressuring us, or do you just need a kid to secure your spot in the Brown Family?"

Elisa's heart sank, and she stared at him in disbelief.

She thought that even if Howard didn't love her, after three years together, he should know what kind of person she was. But she was wrong.

Elisa let out a bitter laugh, "Is that what you think of me?"

Howard coldly shot back, "Isn't it?"

Elisa felt a sharp pain in her heart. She stared blankly at Howard's handsome face, let out a bitter laugh, and admitted, "You're right. I am that kind of person."

She suddenly felt exhausted. Elisa looked into his eyes and said, "Howard, let's get a divorce!"

Howard frowned, "Stop being ridiculous. I'm not in the mood for your tantrums."

Howard pushed Elisa aside and got out of bed. She twisted her body, pressing on the hand where she had received an IV, and a wave of pain hit her.

Elisa let out a pained groan.

Howard realized something was wrong and immediately turned on the light. He saw the numerous needle marks on her hand from blood draws. "What's going on? Are you sick?"

Hearing his question, Elisa felt a bit unreal. So he did care after all.

She slightly curled her lips. "It's nothing, just a cold. I went to the hospital for a shot."

Elisa leaned against the headboard, seductively flipping her hair. "If you have time to worry about me, why don't we continue making love?"

Seeing her carefree attitude, Howard's face darkened even more.

She was sick, yet all she could think about was making love! Didn't she care about her own body?

When Elisa tried to kiss him again, Howard pushed her away without hesitation. "You're crazy!"

With that, Howard slammed the door and left.

Elisa sat on the bed, laughing bitterly.

The next day, Howard sat at the dining table, waiting for a long time for Elisa to come down for breakfast. Remembering the marks on her hand, he couldn't help but worry and called the family doctor to check on her.

The doctor knocked on the door for a long time, but there was no response from inside.

The knocking annoyed Howard. He went upstairs and directly pushed the door open. "Elisa, how long are you going to keep this up?"

Not a single person in sight in the room. Everything was there, except Elisa.

Howard looked around and finally found a divorce agreement on the bedside table.

His face darkened as he flipped through it, seeing that Elisa had already signed it, demanding half of the assets and ten percent of the Brown Group's shares.

Howard let out a cold laugh. She really had some nerve.

When his eyes landed on the reason for the divorce, his face darkened even more, and his aura became downright chilling.

The doctor took one look and, terrified, quickly found an excuse to leave.

Howard called Elisa, and as soon as she answered, he gritted his teeth and asked, "What do you mean by 'incompatible sex life' as the reason for the divorce? Have you never enjoyed it in bed?"

Elisa clicked her tongue. "Can't you tell I've been faking it every time? Your skills are terrible, and it's exhausting to pretend."

Howard was completely enraged and shouted, "Elisa!"

Elisa held the phone away for a moment, and after he finished shouting, she continued, "Besides, you don't want kids. A man who doesn't want children is not acceptable to me. Hurry up and sign the divorce papers. I'll find a man who wants kids. As for you, do whatever you want. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other!"

With that, Elisa hung up the phone and blocked his number.

She leisurely sipped her coffee, feeling completely at ease.

She had always been accommodating and tolerant; now she finally spoke her mind, feeling liberated.

But the good mood didn't last long. Elisa picked out a bunch of things at a luxury store in the mall, but when she tried to pay, the clerk told her that her card was frozen.

The smile on her face disappeared instantly. She tried using the secondary card Howard had given her, but it still didn't work.

Elisa's mouth twitched. She cursed inwardly, 'That bastard Howard, he really is ruthless!'

She had planned to splurge before the divorce. In fact, the terms about splitting assets and shares in the divorce agreement were just to annoy Howard.

She never expected Howard to agree, especially since he had warned her on their wedding day not to expect anything from the Brown Family.

But after they got married, he still gave her hundreds of thousands of dollars each month as allowance, which was generous.

But now, he had cut off all her cards.

The Brown Family had so much money they couldn't spend it all, was he planning to take it to the grave?

She must have been crazy to have fallen for such a stingy man like Howard.

Elisa cursed Howard countless times inwardly. When she came back to reality, the clerk was still maintaining a professional smile and politely asked, "Ms. Garcia, do you still want these items? Of course, you can return them if you want. After all, you are our esteemed VIP member."

Elisa gritted her teeth. "Of course I want them. How much?"

No matter how tough things got, she wouldn't let herself suffer!

The clerk's smile grew even brighter. "The total is 800,000 dollars."

Elisa glanced at the pile of luxury items beside her and forced a smile. "What did you just ask me?"

The clerk was taken aback and repeated, "Do you still want these items?"

"No, thank you. And please cancel my 14,000-dollar monthly membership fee as well," Elisa said, turning to leave amidst the clerk's shocked expression.

If it were tens of thousands of dollars, she could grit her teeth and pay, but there was no need to waste the money beyond that now.

As soon as she left the mall, Elisa called Flora, "Flora, can you take me in for a while?"

Flora, with a stuffy nose from a cold, clicked her tongue. "Did you have a fight with your bastard husband? Alright, pack your things and come over."
