Chapter 1
"Emily, We do it again?"
A deep, raspy voice whispered in Emily Johnson's ear. She was pressed up against the French window, her desire making her eyes red and her moans all jumbled up.
James Smith's hot body was all over her. He nibbled on her earlobe and chuckled. "If you don't speak, I'll take it as you agree, let me do you a thousand more times!"
Emily's mind was a blur, feeling like she was melting into a puddle, barely able to stand.
If James wasn't holding her up, she'd be on the floor by now.
After two years together, James knew her body better than she did. Every touch and caress hit her most sensitive spots just right.
James was incredible, a force of nature in bed, but his insatiable appetite left Emily breathless and utterly spent.
But James leaned in, buried his head in her neck, and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Emily, how was my performance today? Was it good?"
Exhausted, Emily wanted to snap back, but her throat was dry. She just tried to push James away.
As soon as she reached out, James grabbed her wrist, and she felt something cool between her fingers.
Emily paused, looking down to see a diamond ring.
The ring was simple but elegant, fitting her perfectly, and the diamond was huge, at least ten carats. It sparkled brilliantly in the light.
Emily stared at the ring. After a few seconds, she raised an eyebrow. "You're really generous."
James smiled and hugged her. "Do you like it?"
"It's nice."
Emily replied casually, taking off the ring. "Want me to help your future girlfriend try it on?"
James's face changed instantly. "No, I..."
"Let's end this." Emily cut him off before he could finish.
She already guessed what James was going to say when she saw the ring. Unfortunately, Emily had a husband.
She started seeing James because her new husband was cheating with her sister. To get back at him, she kept James as her lover.
Emily pulled out a document from her bag, along with the ring, and placed them in front of James. "This house is yours, and I've sorted out the paperwork. Consider it a thank you for the past few years."
As she said this, Emily felt a bit sad.
It wasn't easy finding someone like James. He was great in bed and took care of her feelings. Plus, he was exactly her type.
But Emily didn't want to get too attached, and she was planning to go back home, so she had to say goodbye to James.
As she turned to find her clothes, James grabbed her hand. "Emily."
There was a pained look in James's eyes, his voice hoarse. "You're just gonna leave me?"
Without looking back, Emily said calmly, "What do you mean 'leave'? I'm paying you for your services."
James's grip loosened, and Emily pulled her hand away.
His voice changed instantly. "Is that how you're gonna end it?"
Emily had never heard James speak so coldly before.
His whole demeanor changed, his dark eyes icy, sending chills down her spine.
"If you think it's not enough, I'll throw in another million," Emily said, trying to hide her unease. She quickly got dressed and walked out without looking back.
She never glanced back at James the whole time.
Emily boarded her flight back home, staring out the window at the clouds and sighing.
A week ago, her sister Veda Johnson called, saying she and John Williams were coming back home.
On the phone, Veda sounded weak and timid, saying she wanted to see Emily. She admitted it was her fault for messing up Emily and John's relationship and now wanted to give John back to Emily.
Emily found it all pretty ironic. When she was just a newborn, she was accidentally taken home by the wrong family from the hospital. It wasn't until she was ten years old that she was finally reunited with the Johnson family.
Emily was thrilled to finally find her real family.
But Mrs. Johnson's first words to Emily were that the switch with Veda wasn't Veda's fault.
The second thing she said was that for the past ten years, they had treated Veda as their own daughter and asked Emily to be generous and not drive Veda away.
Between Emily and Veda, everyone always chose Veda, including John, who had already proposed to Emily.
Emily once asked John if he wanted to cancel the engagement and marry Veda instead. If that was the case, she could let go gracefully, even if it hurt.
John stayed silent for a long time before saying the engagement wasn't canceled.
But on the wedding day, Veda called John. She cried and said she couldn't live without him and had cut her wrist, hoping to see him one last time before she died.
Without a second thought, John didn't even change out of his groom's suit and left.
John got his love, but made Emily the laughingstock of the entire Emerald City.
As her thoughts wandered, Emily arrived at the address Veda had sent her, which turned out to be the place where she and John had held their wedding. How ironic.
Emily pushed open the door of the private room and saw Veda standing by the balcony.
"Veda."
Veda looked haggard and pale, staring at Emily and murmuring, "Why?"
Emily frowned, unable to hear clearly. "What are you saying? Just spit it out."
Emily had come here to divorce John and had no time to waste on Veda.
Tears welled up in Veda's eyes, and she spoke pitifully, "Emily, I really like John. Can you please let me have him? I know I wronged you in the past, and I'll do my best to make it up to you in the future."
Emily almost laughed. Veda, the other woman, was openly declaring her love to Emily.
With a mocking smile, Emily said softly, "If I could be as shameless as you, I would have had kids with John long ago."
Hearing this, tears streamed down Veda's face, her body trembling slightly. "But John said he doesn't love you at all. Even if you stay together, you won't be happy. I'm doing this for your own good. After you divorce John, you can find new love. Isn't that good?"
Emily was incredulous. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
It turned out Veda had called Emily over to get her to divorce John.
Of course, she had to divorce him. But she couldn't let Veda, this hypocritical two-faced person, get away with it.
Too lazy to stay and listen to Veda's nonsense, Emily turned to leave, but her hand was suddenly grabbed.
