Chapter 10 Introducing the Job

I didn't dare to go against Howard's wishes, so I quietly sat down to eat breakfast.

His expression softened a bit, and he said, "I've done some digging. You don't have a job right now. I'm starting a new clothing company and need a few designers."

I hesitated, not feeling particularly confident in my skills.

"Mr. Wilson, thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'm the right fit," I said politely.

Howard raised an eyebrow and gave me a half-smile. "Do you think I have poor judgment?"

I was taken aback and quickly waved my hand. "No, that's not what I meant..."

Howard cut me off, "I admire your determination. You're ruthless and willing to burn your bridges. Otherwise, you wouldn't have slept with your rival's uncle for revenge, right?"

My face turned bright red with shame. So, he knew everything.

Howard continued, "Your dad can't work right now, and the salary I'm offering is enough to support you."

Seeing my reaction, Howard added, "Of course, if you're good enough, there might be more."

He stood up, walked over to me, and leaned in, trapping me in the chair. "I'm a generous boss. As long as my employees provide value, the salary I offer will make them loyal to me."

The scent of Howard's cologne filled my nose, making me almost lose myself.

After a moment, I looked up at him with determination. "Thank you, Mr. Wilson, for this opportunity. I won't let you down."

Howard stood up straight, satisfied, and casually tossed a business card in front of me. "Don't get too excited. To get into my company, you still need solid skills. Prepare your resume and go to this place for a written test tomorrow."

Before leaving, Howard looked at me again. "Kathie, don't disappoint me."

I looked at the business card in my hand, my eyes full of determination. I had to get this job. Beckett was still waiting for me!

The next morning, I brought my resume and some previous design drafts to the address on the business card. I was stunned when I saw the building—it wasn't the small workshop I had imagined but a high-end office building!

I swallowed hard, realizing I had definitely underestimated it. Howard's business couldn't be small-scale. But even so, I encouraged myself. I needed this job, and I had to succeed.

I asked the receptionist and learned that the written test for designers was on the sixth floor. When I arrived at the test site, there were a lot of people.

From their conversations, I learned that there were graduates from prestigious schools and many designers who had returned from overseas. They all looked confident, with pride in their eyes.

I felt a bit nervous and couldn't help but feel uneasy.

A man's voice came through, "The written test is about to begin. Please find your seats."

I looked up to see Malcolm.

"One person per table. Cheating or copying is not allowed in our test. If discovered, you know the consequences." After speaking, Malcolm began distributing papers.

When he got to me, he gave me a smile and mouthed the words, "I'm looking forward to your performance. Good luck, Ms. Brown."

Blushing slightly at Malcolm's kindness, I took the paper and nodded. No matter what, I had to give it my all!
