Chapter 11 Helping Felicity

The written test began, and I calmed myself down and started tackling the questions seriously.

After the test, Malcolm announced that the results would be notified via email in two days.

I was about to leave, but my legs gave way, and I almost fell.

Fortunately, Malcolm was quick and caught me. "Ms. Brown, are you okay?"

I steadied myself with Malcolm's help. "I'm fine, probably just low blood sugar again. Malcolm, you go ahead, I'll rest for a bit."

Malcolm nodded but had other things to attend to, so he left.

I sat on a bench and took out a piece of chocolate from my bag to eat. But before I could finish, I heard a woman loudly questioning someone in the office next door.

"What is going on with you guys? Don't you know how to keep time? My time is money! Can you afford to waste it? I don't care, get someone to install the air conditioner right now, or take it away!"

I stood up and peeked into the office, only to be caught by the woman who was fuming.

She sized me up. "Who are you? Eavesdropping?"

I awkwardly stepped out and greeted her, "Hello, do you need help installing the air conditioner?"

She frowned. "Are you the person here to install the air conditioner? They ran out of people and sent you?"

I explained, "No, I'm here for the designer's written test. But I installed all the furniture in my house, so maybe I can help."

Hearing this, the woman's eyes lit up instantly. She almost ran to my side and grabbed my hand. "Really? Oh my God, dear. I'm in urgent need of help!"

Realizing her rudeness, the woman smiled at me. "I'm Felicity Garcia, Mr. Wilson's secretary. You have no idea how particular Mr. Wilson is about time. If this air conditioner isn't installed soon, he's going to be furious! No time to waste, let's get started!"

Felicity led me to Howard's office, which was empty at the moment, indicating he was out.

Felicity visibly sighed in relief. "Great, Mr. Wilson isn't here. Quickly install it, preferably before he gets back! Don't worry, I'll pay you!"

I didn't say much more and had Felicity call over two strong male colleagues. They held the air conditioner while I stood on the ladder to install it.

I worked quickly, and soon the air conditioner was securely mounted on the wall.

Felicity tried the remote, and a cool breeze blew out, making her exclaim in delight, "You're amazing!"

I blushed at the compliment and was about to step down from the ladder when I suddenly slipped.

The feeling of falling came, and I closed my eyes, resigning myself to the fact that even though the ladder wasn't high, falling would still hurt!

But the next second, I fell into a warm embrace. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that it was Howard! I couldn't believe he was the one who caught me!

"How long are you going to keep staring?" Howard's cold voice brought me back to my senses.

I quickly struggled out of his arms. "Thank you, Mr. Wilson, for saving me!"

Howard gave me a cold glance and then looked at Felicity. "Is this the best air conditioner installer the installation company could send?"

Felicity swallowed nervously, clearly tense, "Sorry, Mr. Wilson, they said there were no air conditioner installers available, so I asked this lady to give it a try."

Howard looked at me with a half-smile, his eyes showing a hint of hidden anger.
