Alpha's Revenge

“What does the Lycan King coming have to do with me? Have your little dinner, and I’ll be in my room out of the way. Isn’t that how you like it?”

“Normally, that would be fine with me, but you will be helping to prepare dinner, and then you will go shower and change into a gown and accompany me to dinner. You will be on your best behavior and do as you’re told otherwise; I’ll make the last beating and dungeon visit look like a trip to Jamaica.” He turns and storms out of the kitchen before I can say anything.

After finishing the dishes and my other chores, I retired to my bedroom for a shower and then changed into my pajamas. I was allowed to keep my room, but not all the luxuries that I once had. The television, cell phones, makeup and fancy clothes were all taken away. He said privileges were earned and until I did as he wanted, I would have none. Now I have basic clothes, which is fine with me. My clothes were brand name but even my parents knew that I preferred jeans and t-shirts and the occasional sundress. I wasn’t a fancy person and neither is our pack really. Could we afford fancy sports cars? Yes, but we never saw a need.

In two weeks the Lycan King will be visiting and if I can get him alone, or even address him with enough people around, then I could plead my case to him. Ramsey wouldn’t be so bold as to try to hurt me in front of the King. He’s crazy but not stupid. Nobody causes a scene in front of him unless they are looking for death. King Randal is nothing like his father and grandfather before him. He is ruthless and has rejected even the thought of having a mate for years, which is why I’m surprised that he is looking now. Don’t get me wrong, he is a great and fair ruler, but he has a temper. When enraged, he has been known to eradicate a whole pack if they displeased him.

That night I went to bed and dreamed of a huge black Lycan with hazel eyes, which is strange. Maybe it was a Lycan thing because when wolves shift into their wolf form, their eyes turn an amber color unless they are rogues and then their eye color is red. I was running through the forest near my pack trying to escape and get to the royal pack when about ten rogues came out and surrounded me. Normally I could take on at least five alone, but being that I had that damn collar on, I was in no shape to fight even one at the moment. They were snarling and snapping their teeth at me, but I couldn’t shift to protect myself, so when they started to move in, I just closed my eyes and waited. At least I would be with my parents. “Too bad I won’t get to kill Ramsey before I die.” I said to myself just as the wolf leaped at me.

The blow never comes and when I open my eyes, there are ten dead rogue wolves scattered around me and the huge Lycan is towering over me covered in blood. A part of me is terrified while another part of me wants to run my hands through his fur. As I began to reach out my hand to touch him, I was awakened by a loud knocking on my door and my alarm clock blaring. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” I said to myself. It felt like I’d just gone to bed, so there was no way that it was time to get up already, but one glance at the clock told me that it was indeed four in the morning. Time to get up and get ready to start my day.

After turning off the alarm, I head to the shower and quickly wash and rinse before getting out and putting on my jeans and t-shirt to get downstairs in time to get breakfast started. Normally, I’m up at six, but since he gave me all the work to do myself, I have to get up earlier to make breakfast for the over 500 wolves living in the pack. Thankfully, only about 300 actually eat in the packhouse, as the mated pairs never come to the packhouse unless there is a meeting.

Once I’m downstairs, I find an omega already in the kitchen making biscuits. I believe her name is Ally. She is an absolute sweetheart, and we used to play together when I was little until my father made me start training to become the next Alpha. I hated that I had to leave my friend. “Ally, what are you doing here? Ramsey said that I have to do all the work alone and you guys needed to rest. I don’t want you to get into trouble,” I said to her.

“I won’t get into trouble. Besides, what else can he do to me that hasn’t already been done? I’ve been beaten and thrown into the dungeon and even...” she trailed off and hung her head.
