Chapter 7: Can You Help Me?

Ava was escorted out of the villa by the police, taking a deep breath of fresh air, still shaken by the experience. Moreover, who would have known she was here and called the police?

What about the contract she had just signed? Was it still to be fulfilled?

After leaving the villa, someone approached directly, nodded at the police, and took Ava away. Ava looked at the police in confusion, indicating that she should follow this person.

The person led Ava to a black business van. As soon as she got in, she saw the profile of a man. The light in the car was dim, and he was resting with his eyes closed, seemingly unaware of her getting in.

It was him, it was Ryan. Was he the one who saved her tonight?

Suddenly, the man seemed to hear a noise, his eyelashes quivered slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.

Ava happened to be examining him, and for a moment, as she saw his eyes open, their gazes met, and neither spoke.

Ava hastily averted her gaze, her heart pounding.

"Miss Ava, are you alright?" Ryan's gaze rested on her for only a second before he casually checked his watch and said nonchalantly,

"Call Ben, the kid is worried about you."

Ava was taken aback; it was Ben. Right, she was supposed to tutor Ben today. He must be anxious because she didn't show up and her phone was unreachable.

After charging her phone and turning it on, she indeed had dozens of missed calls.

After calling Ben, Ava sighed heavily in the car, while the man beside her remained silent throughout the journey, not uttering a word.

Indeed, there wasn't much for him to say to her.

But who was he? The second young master of Golden Group, one of the wealthiest men in London.

Sneaking a glance at the man beside her, Ava had a terrible thought, yes, she didn't want to donate bone marrow; she planned to take a gamble.

She bet that this man would help her.

In the darkness, she couldn't see his face clearly. She felt guilty and avoided looking at him. The air was quiet as she mustered up the courage to break the silence.

"Mr. Ryan."

Her voice intruded abruptly, and Ryan opened his eyes, lazily humming in response.

"Can you help me? I'm really at the end of my rope."

"Go on."

"I need three hundred thousand dollars." Ava's voice was barely audible, "My mother needs money for surgery. Can you lend it to me first? I... will repay you as soon as possible."

Upon hearing this, Ryan's narrow eyes couldn't help but squint. He thought she was going to say something else, but it turned out to be a loan. However, three hundred thousand was indeed a negligible amount for him.

Looking at Ava, who was pitifully lowering her head in front of him, Ryan suddenly felt like teasing her,

"It can be done, but when will Teacher Ava be able to repay it?"

Ava gritted her teeth and said earnestly, "Within a year, I promise to pay you back."

Ryan smiled. He was making a fortune, and a year for him could earn many three hundred thousands, after all, he had previously helped the group expand into overseas markets in the United States and achieved some success.

The car soon arrived at Ethan's estate. Ava promised on the phone to see Ben first, as he was still worried about her.

Ben, the student she had been teaching for two years, their relationship was more like siblings than teacher and student.

Sure enough, Ben was still awake, the living room was brightly lit, and the butler was waiting with him.

"Sister Ava!" As soon as Ben saw Ava come in, he almost sprang up from the sofa and ran over. "Are you okay? What happened?"

Ava shook her head and sighed. Ben was a sensitive child, and if she told him the truth, she was afraid he would worry about her. Ava didn't intend to go into detail with Ben about this matter.

"I'm fine, I went to a friend's house, Ben, you should go to bed, you have school tomorrow."

Ben knew Ava was clearly hiding something from him, but since she didn't want to talk about it, he didn't press further. As long as she was okay, that was all that mattered.

It was already quite late, and the manor was located in a remote area. The butler and Ben insisted that Ava stay the night and leave the next day. Unable to refuse their kindness, Ava agreed. Surprisingly, Ryan also decided to stay, which was rare for him.

Ava slept in a guest room on the second floor. After taking a shower, she went to bed early, still shaken by the events of the day. Ding, the text message notification sounded at an inopportune moment.

She opened it, and the cold text jumped into her sight.

"You must abide by our agreement, think about your mother in the hospital bed."

Jane, that despicable woman!

Ava hardened her heart, deleted the message, and decided in this life, she never wanted to have anything to do with this woman again.

Why did she have such biological parents, who were cold-hearted, hypocritical, and only used her for their own purposes?
