Chapter 2

"Shut up, Leon. Just do your job and quit showing off. You're only making yourself look worse," Caitlin snapped.

Leon clammed up.

That night, Leon lay on the basement floor, still feeling like it was all a dream.

"Oh my God, I'm really a billionaire. This isn't a dream!" Leon muttered to himself. "I'll hit the bank tomorrow."

Leon barely slept that night. The next morning, he got up and planned to take his pickup truck out.

But first, he had to fix the truck's tire.

When he got to the garage, he saw the tire was already fixed.

Surprised, he figured it must have been Caitlin. No one else in the Herman family cared about him.

So Leon started the car and headed to the bank.

As he drove down the road, he saw Lucy standing by the roadside.

"Leon, where are you going?" Lucy asked.

"Morning, Lucy," Leon greeted her.

Lucy said coldly, "Have you thought about what I told you yesterday? If you have any self-respect, you should divorce Caitlin and let her find happiness. Also, Caitlin left some documents at home. You should take them to her. Don't be late, or she'll be mad."

Lucy was 20, very headstrong, and had inherited the Herman family's good looks. On top of that, she was tall and had a stunning figure.

But Leon didn't pay her much attention. He took the folder Lucy handed over, feeling a bit surprised.

Caitlin always looked down on Leon and never let him go to her company. But today, she asked him to deliver documents. Why?

Leon found it hard to believe.

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and deliver the documents!" Lucy urged impatiently. She always felt sorry for Caitlin because she thought Caitlin, who was beautiful, kind, and capable, was way out of Leon's league. He was just a loser in Lucy's eyes.

But Leon didn't see it that way, which annoyed her.

After 20 minutes, Leon arrived at Caitlin's company.

But when he got there, he found out Caitlin wasn't at the company; she had gone to the dock.

So Leon turned around and headed to the dock. When he arrived, he saw a yacht docked, and Caitlin was standing on the deck.

"Caitlin, I'm here!" Leon called out, trying to board the yacht, but the guard stopped him.

The guard looked at Leon's clothes and said, "This is a private yacht. You're not welcome here. Please stay away."

Leon, dressed in his usual shabby jacket, explained, "My wife is on the yacht. I have some documents to deliver to her."

"Your wife?" the guard asked. "Who is your wife?"

"Caitlin Herman," Leon replied.

The guard laughed, full of disdain and mockery. "So you're that famous loser. I've heard of you."

Leon smiled bitterly, not expecting even the guard to know about him.

He continued, "Since you've heard of me, you should know who I am. So let me in. I need to see Caitlin."

The guard said gruffly, "I've already told you, this is a private yacht. You can't go on board without an invitation. I can pass on your documents if you want."

But Leon refused, "No, this is very important company information. I must hand it to her personally."

"Suit yourself, but remember, you can't board this yacht," the guard replied coldly.

As Leon was thinking about how to deal with the guard, a Porsche suddenly pulled into the dock's parking lot. Steve got out of the car, wasn't stopped by the guard, and boarded the yacht directly.

Leon angrily said, "Did you see that? Why can Steve go up, but I can't?"

"Because he's Steve, and you're just a loser living off the Herman family. Did you notice the watch Steve is wearing? It's a Patek Philippe, worth more than many people's annual salary. Do you think you can compete with Steve?"

"Compete? Compete for what?" Leon frowned.

"Don't play dumb. The news of Steve proposing to Caitlin yesterday has already spread. Everyone knows Steve loves Caitlin. He's the most qualified to be Caitlin's husband. You, a loser, don't deserve to live with Caitlin." The guard crossed his arms, his tone full of mockery.

Meanwhile, on the yacht, Caitlin was patiently waiting.

Seeing Steve come up, Caitlin smiled warmly and said, "Steve, you're finally here."

Steve looked at Caitlin greedily, licked his lips, and gracefully took out a beautifully wrapped gift box, saying, "Caitlin, this is a gift I specially prepared for you. No one suits it better than you."

Under Caitlin's puzzled gaze, Steve opened the box, revealing a diamond necklace that sparkled brilliantly.

Steve smiled and said, "This is a diamond necklace worth $100,000. I hope you like it."

Caitlin frowned, thinking about what happened yesterday.

The news of Steve proposing to her had already spread. Today, he brought her a diamond necklace, which made Caitlin feel very troubled.

She came to the yacht today at Steve's invitation and planned to refuse his proposal, and maybe, Steve could tackle the problem of her company.

After thinking for a while, Caitlin smiled and said, "Thank you for your kindness, Steve. But your gift is too expensive. I can't accept it."

Steve smiled and said, "Caitlin, come on. Just take it. It's just a gift. Or you don't like it? If so, I can exchange it for a more expensive one."

"No need. I heard there was a military coup in Africa a week ago, so diamond prices have increased a lot this year. You bought this necklace before, right? If you buy it now, the price might increase tenfold," Caitlin replied, shaking her head.

"Increase tenfold..." Steve looked embarrassed. Although he was rich, a $1 million necklace was a bit too expensive for him.

Just as Steve was about to say something to ease the embarrassment, Leon suddenly pushed the guard away and ran onto the yacht deck.

He grabbed the necklace from Steve's hand, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it.

"Caitlin, don't accept his stuff. If you like diamonds, I can get them for you too." Leon grabbed Caitlin's hand and started walking out.

Caitlin shouted, "Leon, let go of my hand."

There were a few waiters on the boat, and Caitlin didn't want to be laughed at by them.

Steve was furious. The necklace he had carefully selected was now thrown on the ground by Leon, like trash.

"Damn it! Do you know how much that necklace costs, you piece of trash?" Steve clenched his fists and angrily roared at Leon.

"Why should I care how much it costs?" Leon looked at Steve expressionlessly and said coldly, "I warn you, Caitlin is my wife. Stay away from her! If Caitlin wants gifts, I can give them to her. She doesn't need you! It's just a diamond necklace. I could even give her the Cullinan."

"Are you an idiot? The Cullinan diamond? Can you afford it? If you could, why did you ask Patrick for a lawnmower yesterday? Stop bragging. I'm laughing my head off here." Steve mercilessly mocked him. As a big shot in high society, he looked down on a loser like Leon.

Then he sneered and looked at Caitlin, "Caitlin, I heard your company is short of $8 million, right? I can help you."

"Really?" Caitlin's eyes lit up. This was exactly why she came here.

Steve confidently said, "Don't forget, I'm the president of Corleone Investment Bank. As long as I approve, I can invest in your company anytime. But I have one condition: you must have dinner with me on the yacht and get rid of Leon. Do you agree?"

"Steve, are you serious? You're not joking?" Caitlin asked again, her expression very serious. This money was really important to her.

Steve nodded, "Of course I'm serious. I always keep my promises."

Caitlin thought for a while and agreed.

Without this $8 million, her company might go bankrupt.

"Then, dear Caitlin, why don't we discuss the details of our cooperation? And what would you like to eat? We have a crew of professional chefs on the yacht. I'm sure you will find what you like," Steve smiled gracefully.

Leon glared at Steve and said, "No, Caitlin, you can't agree to this. Steve, I warn you again, stay away from my wife."

Steve mocked, "Leon, do I need to remind you of your status? You're just a pathetic loser living off the Herman family. What right do you have to order Caitlin around? Or are you worried I might do something with Caitlin? If it weren't for me, Caitlin's company would go bankrupt. Don't you realize the huge gap between you and me? What makes you think you can compete with me? You're just a loser. What right do you have to talk to me like that?"

"I..." Leon, seething with rage, opened his mouth to talk back.

But at this moment, Caitlin scolded, "Leon, stop causing trouble and go back."

"You think I'm causing trouble?" Leon was stunned.

Caitlin said seriously, "Do you know how much pressure I'm under right now? Do you know how much I need this money?"

Caitlin looked at Leon with great disappointment. This man failed to be a good husband. Otherwise, she wouldn't humble herself in front of Steve.

After saying that, Caitlin shook her head and walked towards the dining room with Steve.

Leon chased after them and said, "Wait, Caitlin. Don't agree to this. I have money. I can give you $8 million."

Caitlin smiled bitterly and said, "Leon, you don't even have a proper job right now. How could you possibly have $8 million? Stop bragging, okay?"

"I'm telling the truth..." Leon wanted to explain.

But Steve walked over and mocked, "Leon, if you're really short on money, I can arrange for you to be a cleaner. Want to try?"

"Steve, this is none of your business," Leon said angrily.

Steve smiled, "Leon, I'm just trying to help you. How can you talk to me like that? But I'm a generous person, so I won't hold it against you. Now leave and don't interfere with me and Caitlin."

With that, Steve and Caitlin entered the cabin. Leon tried to stop them, saying, "Caitlin, don't agree to this. I really have $8 million. I can solve your problem!"

But Caitlin didn't believe him at all.

"Shut up, Leon. You're broke. Drop the act," Steve mocked disdainfully.

"Steve, don't think you can do what you want just because you have money!" Leon clenched his fists.

"But I can do what I want, can't I? At least now Caitlin is willing to be with me, not you. Leon, you should think about how you'll survive after you divorce Caitlin!"

The guard finally kicked Leon off the yacht. Watching the yacht leave the dock and sail into the sea, Leon felt very despondent. "Steve, so what if you're the president of Corleone Investment Bank? Corleone Investment Bank is just one of the many businesses of the Corleone family. I can still beat you. You have no right to make Caitlin divorce me."

Leon took out his phone and called a number he used to hate. "This is Leon. If you want me to help the Corleone family, you must agree to two conditions. First, let me take over Corleone Investment Bank. Second, get me the Cullinan immediately!"

"Dear Leon, I can't agree to these two conditions right away. I need to discuss with the family members..."

"I'm not here to bargain with you. Yes or no. If it's no, you can forget about me returning to the Corleone family," With that, Leon hung up the phone.

In a luxurious villa in the suburbs, Leon sat on the living room sofa, looking at an imposing old man across from him.

The old man was named Brandon Corleone, the head of the Corleone family.

Standing beside Brandon were two bodyguards wearing sunglasses.

"You finally came back. I've missed you all these years. I'm very happy to see you safe and sound," Brandon said with a smile.

Leon said lazily, "Cut the crap, Brandon. What about the demands I made earlier? If you don't agree, I'll leave right now."
