Chapter 3: Living in misery.

“Ahhh!” I yelled, my eyes colliding with Alpha Kayden's eyes, as he hovered above me.

“Shhh!” He quickly clasped his palm over my mouth, forcing me to become silent.

I murmured some words, while I struggled to breathe.

It didn't matter how hard I tried to break free from him. He had successfully pinned me down. With one hand gagging me, as the other hand successfully tore my clothes apart.

But he was unyielding, his strength crushing. One hand gagged me, while the other ripped my clothes apart.

Tears streamed down my face as reality dawned: I was trapped, helpless.

Alpha Kayden brushed his lips against my skin, leaving me with bruises. My skin burned as his grip tightened on me. His gaze turned cold, and I could swear I saw his eyes darken.

“No” I tried to scream, but it got caught up in my throat.

My cries all fell on deaf ears. My mind completely went blank, as all I could see was the monster on top of me.

The world came to a stand still, as the only thing I could do was blink and stare in agony.

My tears effortlessly ran down my cheeks, as I waited patiently for my trauma to come to an end. It seemed like it had been going on for eternity. But, the moon goddess finally answered my prayers, as he finally finished. He got dressed, and left without uttering a single word.

I lay there weak and disheartened. I sniffed, sinking in the fact that my first sexual encounter was without my consent. Every ray of hope in me, was completely gone. I couldn't even get up to clean myself.

I woke up the next morning, still feeling pains as an impact of the previous night. Every breath was painful. Although I managed to force myself to take a bath, everything felt like a punishment to me.

A maid walked in to serve me breakfast, and gasped at the sight of blood on the bed. She took a deep breath, as she handed me clean clothes, as she rushed to tidy up the mess.

I watched, numb, as she changed the sheets. When she finished, I returned to bed, resigned to my fate.

"It can't get worse," I thought.

But then, my door burst open.

I snapped my neck towards the door as a woman with short amber hair walked in. Her piercing green eyes met mine, radiating nothing but hatred.

"You're her, aren't you?" she spat, her voice venomous. "Kayden's new plaything."

She strode over, grasping my hair and yanking it viciously. "So, it's true? Kayden has brought another lowlife home?"

"Please, let go! You're hurting me!" I pleaded, struggling to break free.

She dragged me out of bed, unfazed by my cries. "Did you think you'd just take Kayden from me?" She screamed, towing me across the floor.

"I won't! I don't want to!" I protested, trying to pry her grip loose.

She twisted my hair around her wrist, tightening her hold. She pulled me down the staircase, my brain torn between the agony in my head and the pain lingering from the previous night.

My body ached, my scalp throbbing. Tears streamed down my face as I stumbled, desperately trying to maintain my balance.

"Please, stop!" I begged, but she didn't relent.

We reached the bottom of the stairs, and she flung me onto the nearest wall. I crashed against it, dazed and disoriented.

As I slid to the floor, she loomed over me, her eyes blazing. "You think you can replace me? I am Kayden's mate, not you."

I cowered, terrified. "I don't want to replace anyone. I just want to go home."

Her laughter was cold, joyless "You'll never leave this place. Kayden will never let you go."

Her cruel words sank into my blood like poison.

I already knew that Alpha Kayden was never going to let me go. But, when she pointed it out like that to me, it terrified me even more.

She snapped her fingers, and two hefty warriors appeared. She looked at them, her eyes bearing no form of emotion.

"Take her to the dungeon. Ensure she has nothing to eat or drink" she ordered, as they lifted me from the ground, bringing me out of my misery.

They dragged me on the floor, like I wasn't a living thing.

They paused when we came to a particular room, they stared blankly at each other before they opened it. The room led to an underground dungeon that stunk of filth.

I could barely breathe in it, as I looked around, seeing bones shattered everywhere.

"Ahhh" I yelled in terror, when I accidentally stepped on one of the skeletons.

I cowardly went to sit on one side of the room. There was no bed, and the floor was cold. I really couldn't decide which was more painful, the mental pain or the physical one.

I spent two days without any food or water, and just when I thought I was about to die. There was a glimpse of light from the only available door.

I forced myself to look in that direction.

"Please don't kill me" I cried out, using my last strength to crawl backwards.

The warrior who effortlessly stood at 6 feet glared at me, his gaze scrutinizing.

My whole body was trembling, and my eyes had shrunk already.

"Here" he reached into his pocket and brought out a loaf of bread.

"This is all I could get" he added, when he noticed that I had become completely mute.

"You don't wish to kill me?" I asked, extending my hand to take the food.

"No, I want to help you. You look too young to be going through this" he wiped my tears gently, making me quiver.

I ate the loaf like a tout. I never realized how much a loaf of bread could taste so good.

"Thank you" I appreciated his kindness, as he walked out of the room, without saying a word.

I lay on the cold floor, tears streaming down my eyes as I imagined what other terror awaited.

This same warrior, who I had come to know as Boris, would bring me food every day. And I think that was the only thing keeping me alive. But, on this particular day, I couldn't stop vomiting. I felt very dizzy.

He noticed it, and took the risk of informing Yvette. She insisted that I'd be brought to her, after having my shower, of course.

Because goddess forbids that she perceives my stinking self. But before I could finish my bath, she had already left the packhouse.

"You are pregnant", the nurse who came to check up on me informed me.

"No, I can't be pregnant. It's not possible" I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes.

Boris was present in the room, and he also couldn't conceal his fear. He did something which I didn't expect, as he grabbed the lady by the wrist, pinning her to the wall.

"You will remain silent. If Miss Yvette asks you, tell her that Haisley has come up with a mild illness. Do you understand?" He held a dagger to her throat.

"Ye..yess" the nurse nodded, her legs trembling as she glared at me.

"You can leave now. Your services are no longer needed", Boris released her from his grip, as she dashed out of the room, as though she was being chased.

"Everything will be fine," Boris assured me, walking up to me.

"Nothing will be fine. You may have silenced the nurse for now, but my tummy will eventually grow.

If Yvette finds out that I'm pregnant for Alpha Kayden, then she will kill me" my voice was shaking, feeling as though my heart was clogged.

"No, that won't happen. You will escape before she returns", he tried to console me.

"How will I do that? The warriors here would rather die than let me go free". I shook my head in denial.

"I will help you. But, you will leave by midnight. Just have some rest" he assured me, serving me some food.

I ate hungrily, realizing that my pregnancy might be the cause of my increased appetite.

I waited patiently for the day to darken, while I enjoyed my time out of the dungeon. Boris might change his mind later on, and throw me back in the dungeon.

A lot of things went through my mind while I waited. Where would I go if I managed to escape?

As promised, Boris came to the room in the middle of the night, and woke me from my slumber.

He held my hand as we tiptoed past the sleeping warriors.

"Why are they sleeping so much?" Curiosity got the best of me.

"I had put something in the packhouse water supply.

Everyone is asleep, including Yvette" he whispered, as he escorted me through the packhouse gate.

He continued to follow me, until we had successfully crossed the pack's borderline.

"I am sorry, but this is as far as I can go. However, I wish you the best of luck", he smiled at me.

"Thank you so much Boris. If I ever make it alive, I promise to come back and thank you. You are really kind". I wiped my tears, giving him one last hug, as I ventured into the unknown.
