Chapter 3 The Eve of the Wedding

Amelia had no idea her cover was blown.

As soon as she got into Lucy's car, she started patting her chest and gasping for air.

Lucy gave her a puzzled look. "Why are you so freaked out? Someone chasing you again?"

"It wasscarier than that," Amelia whispered, glancing at Zoey.

Seeing Zoey was distracted by the view outside, Amelia lowered her voice. "I just ran into Raymond."

Lucy's car swerved slightly before she slammed on the brakes and pulled over. "Are you sure it was Raymond? Your ex-husband?"

Zoey looked up, confused. "Mommy, you had a husband before?"

"No, you misheard," Amelia quickly brushed off Zoey's question and then nodded subtly at Lucy.

"Oh my God, that's a disaster," Lucy said, resuming driving. "But why are you hiding from him? Why not just confront him?"

The Adams family was a powerhouse in this town. Lyanna's tricks were nothing compared to them. If Amelia had sought their help, she wouldn't have suffered so much.

Amelia knew what Lucy meant, but after that night, she was lucky Raymond didn't kill her. She had also lost his child.

Not wanting to delve into the past, Amelia said, "I offended him. Just avoid him if you can."

Lucy nodded. "Alright, whatever you say. But what about Lyanna? You can at least tell me about her."

After inheriting the family business, Lyanna had somehow snagged the mayor's son. If she married him, it would be a nightmare to deal with her. Amelia had returned to stop the wedding.

Thinking of her findings, Amelia smirked. "She dreams of a peaceful wedding? Not a chance!"

Meanwhile, at Lyanna and Hugo Graves' wedding, the atmosphere was lively. In the dressing room, Lyanna was getting ready while checking the guest list. "Are the BlueSky Technologies people here? They're our big clients. They must be here. And GoldenIsle Financial, BlueOcean Consulting..."

"They're all here," her mother, Audrey Carroll, confirmed.

Audrey looked at Lyanna's beautiful face, feeling a bit sad. "Can't you just enjoy your wedding without worrying about all this?"

Lyanna rolled her eyes at Audrey in the mirror. "If I don't worry, who will? Besides, I'm not marrying the man I love."

Thinking of Raymond, the most handsome man she had ever seen, and the heir to the powerful Adams family, she felt a pang of regret. Amelia had taken the position of Mrs. Adams, and despite Lyanna's efforts to drive her away, Raymond never accepted her.

But Amelia had left a son behind, which was Lyanna's only link to the Adams family. Unfortunately, the child was cold towards her.

As she thought of the boy, a cold glint flashed in her eyes. Just then, someone announced, "Ms. Smith, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Adams is here."

Lyanna jumped up. "Raymond is here?"

Ignoring the guest list, she handed it to Audrey. "Mom, check the list for me. I need to greet him."

Before Audrey could respond, Lyanna was gone. Audrey chased after her, worried. "A bride greeting guests herself? This is ridiculous!"

Outside the hotel, Raymond stepped out of his car, immediately surrounded by people.

"Mr. Adams, long time no see."

"Mr. Adams, where's your son? My daughter wants to play with him."

"Mr. Adams, how about a drink after the reception?"

Raymond ignored them, his face cold, and walked inside, asking Carl, "Are you sure Amelia will be here?"

Carl nodded. "It's her sister's wedding. She wouldn't miss it."

Thinking of Amelia's smug face, Raymond said nothing and continued inside, only to be stopped by Lyanna.

In her intricate wedding dress and delicate makeup, she looked sweetly at Raymond. "Raymond, you're finally here. I thought you weren't coming."

She reached for his hand, but he pulled away. "Sorry, I'm allergic to perfume," he said coldly, walking past her.

Lyanna stood frozen, her face stiffening as laughter erupted around her. She glared at the laughing guests. "What's so funny? Don't you wear perfume at your weddings?"

As the laughter died down, another car pulled up. A stunning woman in a red dress stepped out, drawing gasps from the crowd.

"Who is she? She's gorgeous!"

"Wow, if I were a man, I'd be smitten!"

Lyanna turned, recognizing the face she hated. Amelia stood there, smiling.

"Congratulations on your wedding, dear sister," Amelia said, her smile widening.
