A phrase 23-year-old Wren Vessylia, a fox shifter has known all her life. Hunted, sold, beaten, and tortured all her life, all Wren has known in her life is pain. So when one day she is sold to an Alpha who uses her as leverage for the powerful Alpha Cassian Knight, Wren realizes her life is about to change drastically.
Alpha Cassian Knight and his pack, the Moon Lichen pack have been battling a centuries old curse that only a nine-tailed fox can break. When he is given Wren Vessylia, a Fox shifter as a gift in exchange for a treaty. Alpha Cassian accepts only due to desperation to evade the curse.
To break the curse, he has to marry the fox shifter, a decision his pack and everyone around him strongly oppose. Cassian proposes an arrangement between them, Wren would stay married to him only for as long as the curse was broken, and in return, he would provide her protection and compensation for the rest of her life. Wren agrees, eager for a better life and a taste of freedom.
Meanwhile, Wren is treated as an outsider in his pack in Cassian’s absence, enduring cruelty from his people and suspicion from his family. Wren is forced to endure because she looks forward to being free. Cassian slowly starts to fall for Wren unexpectedly. A forbidden attraction that only spells doom for the two of them.
