Chapter 2
Christina thought, 'Sebastian actually has the nerve to come? And he even brought his rumored girlfriend Laura Smith?'
Facing Laura's inquiry, Sebastian's stern face softened, and he answered gently, "Of course."
Laura Smith hooked her arm around his, gracefully walking towards Christina.
Other guests slowed their steps, whispering among themselves.
"Who is that woman?"
"Why is she wearing red? That's so disrespectful to the deceased."
Before the two stepped into the funeral home, Christina blocked the entrance, her attitude firm. "What are you doing here?"
Sebastian chuckled lightly, but his eyes were icy. "Of course, I'm here to pay my respects to my dear father-in-law."
Seeing Sebastian, Christina was reminded of the humiliation and the death of her father. Her hand trembled as she coldly warned, "Uninvited guests are not welcome here."
Sebastian replied indifferently, "I invited her."
Their presence already humiliated her a lot, and now it was as if they were trampling on her dignity!
Laura forced a smile, pretending to be sad. "Ms. Seymour, my condolences."
In this funeral, Christina became the one with the least say.
She repeated word by word, "Uninvited guests are not welcome here."
Her father was gone, and she had nothing left to lose. No matter how powerful Sebastian was, he couldn't ruin Gavin's funeral.
Sebastian's gaze grew colder. "I am Gavin's son-in-law. Do I need your permission to invite someone to pay respects?"
The two stood off at the entrance.
Someone tried to speak kindly, "Ms. Seymour, today is Gavin's memorial service."
Christina sneered, only questioning, "Sebastian, you came empty-handed to pay respects to your father-in-law?"
Seeing her repeatedly provoke him, Sebastian's aura turned cold, and the air seemed to stop flowing.
He commanded, "Everyone out."
Within seconds, everyone in the funeral home quietly exited. Laura also showed fear, quickly retreating to the car.
Christina took a deep breath, facing his cold stare. His nearly 6.3-foot frame was like a wall, his long legs taking steps that forced her to retreat.
He said, "I still prefer you being quiet in bed."
Christina's eyes reddened instantly, and she raised her hand to slap him.
Sebastian easily caught her hand. "With such little strength, I might think you're flirting. Or have you already developed a taste for it?"
Sebastian's deep voice was like a devil's whisper.
Christina felt a chill throughout her body, glaring at him intently. "Sebastian, you're insane."
Sebastian released her hand, striding inside, placing the last lily in front of Gavin's portrait, his eyes filled with a mad hatred. "You were smart to leave first, so now I'll take my revenge on your daughter."
Christina felt a chill down her spine. She thought, 'What does he mean? Has Sebastian planned this all along?'
Sebastian turned, staring at her darkly. "I've been waiting for this day since I married you. Christina, the show is just a beginning."
Long after he left, Christina stood dazed in the funeral home. Her tragedy had been foreseen. She looked at Gavin's portrait, tears falling silently.
After handling the funeral arrangements, she returned home. Christina wearily went to open the villa door, but it didn't budge.
The video doorbell showed: [The owner is not home. Please ring the bell.]
Where were the housekeepers? Christina tried to open the door with her fingerprint, but it was unrecognized.
The password was incorrect. And the key didn't fit. She was stunned, quickly calling the police.
To her surprise, the officer quickly responded, "The owner already reported it earlier, and had the locks changed. Stop making false reports."
Suddenly, Christina remembered that when she bought the villa, she had let Sebastian handle it.
She hadn't expected Sebastian to guard against her even in this!
Christina took out her phone to contact Sebastian for answers, but a news notification popped up.
The headline in bold read: #Sebastian Is Planning an Engagement Ceremony with Laura, a new artist#
Followed by a headline: #Sebastian Has Amicably Divorced His Ex-wife#
If not for this news, Christina wouldn't have known she had divorced a month ago.
If Sebastian wanted to push her to the edge, she wouldn't hesitate to fight back!
She called Sebastian, unsurprisingly getting hung up on. She persistently continued, eventually being redirected to his assistant.
She said directly, "Tell Sebastian to meet me, or he will go to jail."
Without a divorce, he would be charged with bigamy!
Within half a minute, a message from an unknown number provided a time and place.
Christina hurried over. Instead of Sebastian, a young man in a sharp suit sat there.
Seeing Christina, the young man introduced himself concisely. "I am Mr. Boleyn's divorce attorney."
He methodically laid out three documents, explaining coldly and efficiently, "Mr. Boleyn's offer is that if you sign the divorce agreement, he will give you an apartment as compensation."
This whole time, the lawyer remained expressionless.
There were a divorce agreement, a property division statement, and an apartment sale contract on the table.
Sebastian was in such a hurry! He didn't even want to handle such a significant matter personally!
Christina pulled out the property division statement. To her shock, she found she had nothing as her property. It must be Sebastian, who had been meticulously planned before the marriage.
Sebastian had indeed been plotting since before their marriage!
Christina trembled, gritting her teeth. "I won't sign unless I see him."
She had to ask Sebastian some things in person.
She wanted to ask him why her father, who didn't mind his bankruptcy and valued his abilities, was repaid with such betrayal!
She also wanted to aske him if he had foreseen this day, which was why he remained unscathed when the Seymour Group went bankrupt!
The lawyer was displeased with her bargaining, and sincerely advised, "This is Mr. Boleyn's biggest concession. I must remind you, you're not opposing me, but the Boleyn Group's legal department."
This tactic was useless against the current Christina.
She lowered her eyes, sneered, and retorted, "Can the Boleyn Group's legal department change the country's laws?"
The lawyer was stumped.
Christina's attitude was firm. "Let me see Sebastian, or there's no deal."
Facing Christina's determined gaze, the lawyer's prepared refusal got stuck in his throat.
Sensing his hesitation, Christina pressed, "Where is he now?"
After weighing the pros and cons, the lawyer answered, "He's at the S&L Hotel penthouse, conducting business."
Getting the answer she wanted, Christina thanked him and left.
On the way, Christina searched for the S&L Hotel, finding the address oddly familiar.
