Chapter 2 You Were the Woman from Yesterday?

Billy's voice brought back all the memories of his affair.

Aria felt a wave of nausea hit her, almost making her puke.

But she pushed through the discomfort and said, "Sorry, my phone died last night. Did I miss something?"

Billy didn't push it, but he still sounded impatient. "There's a banquet tonight, and Simon will be there. Make sure you are well-dressed and leave a good impression."

Aria's heart raced, and her cheeks turned red.

Simon. The guy from last night!

"If Laura can team up with Simon, she will definitely get nominated for the Dream Awards of the international singer competition, and the company's performance will skyrocket. Aria, you won't let me down, right?" Billy's tone softened, trying to sweet-talk her like always.

In the past, Aria would've agreed without a second thought, but now it just felt ironic.

Why would she care about his disappointment?

So they could get rich and famous while cheating on her? In your dreams!

"My face scar is really bothering me today. I need to go to the hospital for a check-up. I might not make it to the banquet," Aria lied, not wanting to go.

Billy's tone instantly got tense. "The scar's acting up again? I'll have the family doctor come over. It's not good for you to go to the hospital alone."

His overreaction made Aria suspicious.

Three years ago, when she was twenty, she woke up in the hospital, missing eight crucial years of memories from studying abroad.

The doctor said a car accident caused her amnesia and disfigurement.

She tried to dig into her past but found nothing.

It was like she vanished for eight years and then just popped back into existence.

Her facial scar could've healed, but it kept getting inflamed and never fully recovered.

Billy always had the family doctor treat her, and she never went to a hospital for a proper check-up.

Aria took a deep breath, pushing down her unease. "Billy, you're so good to me. I've thought about it, and figured that the banquet is more important. I won't go to the hospital. I'll just use more ointment."

Simon rarely showed up at these events and might not even go. She decided to attend first to avoid making Billy suspicious.

After hanging up, Aria drove straight to the hospital.

The doctor examined her scar, frowning. "Miss York, what ointment have you been using? The wound wasn't deep, yet it hasn't healed. I suspect the ointment is causing repeated infections."

The doctor's words hit her like a ton of bricks, making Aria feel terrified.

Was it really as she suspected? Billy had told her it was an expensive scar-removal ointment specially made for her. But the doctor said it was causing the recurring inflammation!

Aria clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, but the pain was nothing compared to the hatred in her heart.

She never thought Billy could be so cruel!

Not only did he deceive her and play her for a fool, but he also wanted to ruin her appearance.

She would definitely make him pay for this!

The hotel lobby was brightly lit, with crystal chandeliers shining like stars, and the luxurious decorations screamed opulence.

Aria wore a stunning evening gown, elegant and dignified, with delicate makeup covering part of her scar.

She held Billy's arm, walking into the business banquet. While Billy greeted the partners, she discreetly slipped a listening device she had designed into his pocket. Her movements were smooth and natural, raising no suspicion.

No one knew that Aria had many skills and excelled in various fields. She couldn't remember when she learned them; it just felt like she always knew.

Laura stood not far away, glaring at Aria with a look that could kill her.

She was consumed by jealousy, feeling it gnaw at her very soul.

How could this scarred Aria still stand next to Billy and soak up all the attention?

She dug her nails into her palm, the sharp pain barely keeping her calm.

No worries, she had a big surprise planned for Aria tonight!

She strutted over to Aria in her high heels, a fake smile plastered on her face. "Aria, you look stunning tonight. The scar seems smaller."

Aria turned, her lips curling into a knowing smile. "Really? Thanks to the ointment Billy made for me."

She casually mentioned the ointment, watching Laura's reaction closely. "Laura, I'll give you a few tubes to try sometime." She wondered if Laura had anything to do with the ointment.

Laura's expression shifted slightly, which Aria didn't miss.

Yes, Laura knew something was up with the ointment.

Aria chuckled softly, "Just kidding. You don't need these scar-removal products. Your face is too precious for that."

Laura forced a smile, trying to figure out what Aria was thinking.

Did Aria know something?

"Simon is here!" someone shouted, and the noise in the hotel lobby suddenly spiked, like a volcano, with everyone's attention turning to the entrance.

Aria's heart skipped a beat.

A striking man walked in, his tall and upright figure exuding a cold and noble aura, making it hard for people to look away even in the crowd.

It was him, Simon! Aria's breath hitched, memories of last night flooding back, making her face flush.

Simon, who never showed up at these events, was actually here.

Simon had saved her last night, but she had run off after a one-night stand. How was she going to explain?

"Aria, Simon is here. Go greet him," Billy's urging voice sounded in her ear.

Aria took a deep breath, pushing down her inner panic, and walked step by step towards the dazzling Simon.

But as soon as she left, the listening device on Billy transmitted a voice. "Billy, how can you let Aria talk to Simon about the collaboration?" Laura's voice was full of dissatisfaction. "Her face disgusts me. What if she scares Simon?"

Billy coaxed Laura, speaking softly, "I'm doing this for you. If she embarrasses herself in front of Simon, you can swoop in and comfort him. Won't that leave a good impression on him?"

Laura suddenly got it. She smiled smugly and praised, "Billy, you're so smart."

Aria's fingers tightened around the wine glass, her knuckles turning white.

What a good plan. But too bad for them, she wasn't going to let it work.

Aria swayed her wine glass gracefully, walking up to Simon with a charming smile, her red lips parting slightly. "Mr. Windsor, we meet again! Thanks for last night."

Simon lounged lazily on the sofa, his deep eyes as mysterious as the night sky, making it hard to read his emotions.

He said with his tone carrying a hint of confusion. "Last night?"

Aria took a deep breath. It seemed she had been too disheveled last night for Simon to recognize her.

She leaned in slightly, her soft hair brushing against Simon's neck, her warm breath tickling his ear. "Mr. Windsor, Sapphire Hotel, what you did to me last night, have you forgotten so soon?"

Her voice was teasing, with a hint of nervousness.

Simon's deep eyes narrowed suddenly, his fingers tightening around the wine glass, causing the amber liquid to ripple slightly.

Sapphire Hotel. Last night, his uncle Lewis Windsor, who was known for avoiding women, had indeed spent the night at the Sapphire Hotel.

Moreover, he had a one-night stand with a woman.

The woman had disappeared without a trace the next morning, causing Lewis to throw a fit and order a search throughout the city to find her.

Unexpectedly, she had come to him herself and had mistaken him for Lewis!

Simon's thin lips parted, his tone surprised, "You were the woman from yesterday?"
