Chapter 8 Where Did You Find the Girl
Billy was chatting up Laura on the phone for a bit.
After hanging up, he called Aria. "Aria, don't be mad. You're the only one I like," Billy said softly, though he was feeling pretty annoyed inside.
Did he really think she was that gullible?
Aria rolled her eyes and stayed silent. She was curious to see what Billy was up to this time.
"People out there are so shallow. But me? No matter how ugly you are, I'll always want you," Billy said, trying to sound sincere.
"Really? You called just to say that?" Aria's voice was icy.
Listening to Billy's sweet talk made Aria feel sick to her stomach.
But she held back her disgust, hoping this jerk would get to the point soon.
"Aria, actually, I need a favor." Billy paused.
Usually, Aria would jump in and say she'd help, but now, there was just silence on the line.
Reluctantly, Billy continued, "You know, the upcoming singer contest is super important for Laura. If she wins, it'll help with the Dream Awards."
Aria sneered to herself.
Billy really had some nerve. He hadn't even smoothed things over with her yet and was already asking for favors for Laura. How shameless.
But Aria had her own plans.
"Okay, I agree," Aria said softly, but there was a cold glint in her eyes.
"I knew you'd agree, Aria. I'm so lucky to have such a great wife like you," Billy said happily, throwing in some sweet words to comfort her.
A look of disgust flashed in Aria's eyes. She used to fall for such lame lines?
These two jerks had no real talent but still wanted fame and fortune. Let them face the consequences of their deceit.
Early the next morning, Aria followed Lewis's instructions and went to Brett's private clinic, which wasn't open to the public, had top-notch equipment, and catered to business tycoons and high-ranking officials.
Aria, with scars on her face, felt out of place here.
"Hello, do you have an appointment?" The receptionist, with a professional smile, politely stopped Aria.
"Mr. Windsor arranged for me to come." Aria hesitated.
"Oh, Miss York, please follow me." The receptionist warmly led the way for Aria.
The service was pretty good.
Aria followed the receptionist through a spacious and bright corridor to the consultation room.
A handsome guy in a white coat and glasses was sitting there, looking at a thick medical record. Without looking up, he said, "Sit over there."
Brett, the legendary doctor, was surprisingly young and good-looking.
Aria sat down calmly. "Dr. Astor, I'm Aria York. Mr. Lewis Windsor arranged for me to treat the scars on my face."
As soon as she finished speaking, Brett looked up sharply, staring at her without putting down the medical record.
"Are you Aria?" He looked her up and down like she was some rare creature.
Aria felt confused. Was such a reaction necessary?
Did Simon tell Brett about their one-night stand?
Was he such a gossip?
Aria felt awkward. "Is there a problem?"
Brett smiled harmlessly. "Don't be nervous. Lewis has explained your situation. Come with me."
Then, under his guidance, Aria underwent a series of examinations.
Brett glanced at the results and said confidently, "Your injury isn't severe. With my treatment plan, those scars will be gone in a month."
Since she was the only woman around Lewis, he wasn't going to slack off.
It was just a minor facial injury, but Brett, who usually handled tough cases only, decided to take this one personally.
"Thanks, Dr. Astor." Aria felt a bit uneasy under Brett's intense gaze.
She'd heard that doctors were only passionate about anatomy.
Feeling a shiver, Aria quickly left the clinic, worried she might not be able to leave if she stayed any longer.
Brett's lips curled into an amused smile as he dialed a familiar number.
The call connected, and a cold voice came from the other side. "Speak."
"With that cold attitude, how do you expect to win her over?" Brett teased.
He had thought Lewis would be alone forever, but he had found a wife so quickly. Life was indeed unpredictable.
Lewis stayed silent.
"You've got some skills. Where did you find that girl? Although she has scars on the face now, she'll be a rare beauty once healed! Find me one like her too," Brett continued excitedly, not caring if Lewis responded.
"Gossiping during work hours? How about a few rounds in the fighting ring?" Lewis suggested coldly.
"You're really mean. Let's end the call here." Brett quickly ended the call, not waiting for Lewis's reply.
He remembered angering Lewis years ago and being beaten up in the fighting ring, bedridden for two months.
Since then, whenever Lewis wanted to practice, his friends would flee overnight.
It seemed he needed to book a flight soon.
Aria returned home with the medicine and went straight to her room.
Her long-standing work habit made her first open her computer to check for any new messages or work arrangements.
To her surprise, she received an email attached with an invitation from a famous production team, hoping she could compose the theme song for their project.
Besides being the eldest daughter of the York family, Aria was also an online singer with the stage name Amnesia.
This identity was initially created to release a few song inspirations, but it unexpectedly became popular, amassing millions of fans.
However, she had been too busy making songs for Laura to manage it.
But now, this identity might be her chance to turn things around.
Aria arrived at the café as agreed.
When she opened the door, she saw a familiar figure.
"Simon? Are you here to record the OP too?" Aria asked, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
"Didn't you know? This is a TV series I'm starring in. The director had something come up and asked me to fill in. I hope you don't mind," Simon said with a gentle smile, not surprised.
"No problem," Aria smiled and nodded.
She really didn't know Simon was starring in this series.
What a coincidence.
But the Windsor family had helped her a lot, and Simon was her future secret husband. Maybe she should start building a relationship?
With that thought, Aria sat next to Simon, smiling warmly at him.
Simon was startled and quickly moved to sit across from Aria, even taking his coffee with him.
If Lewis knew someone dared to sit with his future wife so close, he would probably shoot them.
