Chapter 7

A group of board members were dumbfounded by Adelaide's sudden change of expression.

They thought Sebastian wouldn't care, but to their surprise, Sebastian, who was pushed over by the butler, listened to Adelaide's complaint and immediately frowned in displeasure.

"Who?"Sebastian's voice was stern.

Several board members instinctively shrank their necks.

Adelaide pointed them out one by one, "Him, him...And him!"

The named board member glared angrily, "You little brat, are you tired of living?"

"Honey, I'm so scared!" Adelaide pretended to say.

Before the angry board member could make a move, Adelaide had already thrown herself into Sebastian's arms.

Sebastian's body tensed up immediately, his face darkened, and he said in a low voice, "Let go."

The board members raised their eyebrows at the sight.'They almost got fooled by Adelaide. How could someone as temperamental as Sebastian be bewitched by a girl? They figured Sebastian stepped in just to save face.'

With this thought, they felt more confident and directly ignored Adelaide, "Sebastian, since you're here, let's get down to business!"

"Exactly, let's not let some irrelevant person affect everyone's mood!" the others echoed.

'Irrelevant person?'Adelaide raised an eyebrow. She let go of Sebastian as he asked but still stood in front of him, showing no intention of leaving.

Sebastian frowned, 'Adelaide was being obedient?'

For some reason, his mood worsened!

"I wonder what important business you have to discuss so late?"Sebastian's tone was unfriendly.

The few people hesitated for a moment but eventually spoke up, "Sebastian, considering your current condition, we think you should take a good rest..."

"What condition is my husband in?"Adelaide was displeased again.

"Are you playing dumb?" The questioned man was unhappy.

"I don't know."Adelaide's face darkened.

"Isn't it a fact that Sebastian will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life? How can he lead the Manners Group forward in this state?"He spoke confidently.

The others nodded in agreement.

Adelaide found it boring, "You guys are really funny, beating around the bush. In the end, you just want to say you're here to seize power from Sebastian, right?"

"That's not true. We're doing this for the good of the Manners Group," they replied.

"As far as I know, even with Sebastian in a wheelchair for the past three years, the Manners Group's stock price has only increased. You haven't missed out on dividends, have you?"Adelaide didn't back down.

With her back to Sebastian, she didn't see the surprise in his eyes, 'Did Adelaide know even this?'

Sebastian pursed his lips, and said nothing, but couldn't help the corners of his mouth lifting.

The board members exchanged glances and changed their expressions, "The stock price didn't drop because the Manners Group has a solid foundation. It would be the same with anyone else."

"How about you?" Adelaide smiled at him.

"I..."The man hesitated as if considering her suggestion.

The other board members' faces darkened.

Adelaide burst out laughing, "You believed that?"

The man turned red with anger, "You little brat, even if I can't do it, Sebastian definitely can't. The Manners Group needs a leader who can lead us to glory, not a president in a wheelchair."

"Haha, what a joke! Do you think Sebastian's leg can't be cured?"Adelaide laughed heartily.

Not only did the board members look at each other in confusion, but even Sebastian frowned.

'His leg could be cured?'He didn't think so,' Did Adelaide believe his leg could be cured? Where did Adelaide get such confidence?'

"Are you saying you can cure his leg?" The other party came to his senses and laughed, even getting mischievous, "How about we make a bet? I'll give you a month. If you can cure Sebastian's leg, we'll pretend we never said this. If you can't..."

"You've got some nerve!"Adelaide suddenly walked over and rolled her eyes at him, "Who do you think you are? Why should I bet with you?"

The man was so angry he could hardly speak, and the person next to him quickly took over, "I think you're just scared."

Adelaide didn't respond but turned to look at Sebastian. Sebastian's hands on the wheelchair tightened unconsciously. His expression remained unchanged, but he made up his mind. Since Adelaide was standing up for him, he couldn't let these people bully her.

He was about to speak when Adelaide pursed her lips, looked away, and turned back to the board members, "You're right."

The large living room fell silent.

Adelaide shook her head, her face heavy, "You guys are so useless. Sebastian is just temporarily inconvenienced. If he recovers in a month, he won't be able to play with you anymore."

"What do you mean?" The other party was dumbfounded.

Sebastian's smile widened, and he happily reminded them, "My wife means you're too stupid!"

The few people were so angry they wanted to make a move, rushing towards Sebastian. This time, Adelaide didn't stop them but stepped aside, seemingly giving way to the board members charging at Sebastian.

Ryan was anxious to call for help. How could Sebastian not have bodyguards? But without Sebastian's order, the butler didn't dare to speak.

He didn't expect Adelaide to stop them, but seeing her defend Sebastian one moment and step aside the next, he couldn't help but feel disappointed.

Unexpectedly, the scene Ryan anticipated didn't happen.

The board members charging at Sebastian suddenly froze, as if they were in a movie, and stopped moving.

Ryan's eyes widened, and he pointed at them, about to say something, but quickly heard their cries of pain.

"It hurts!"

"It hurts so much!"

"Help!"

Their cries were followed by the sound of them falling and more cries of pain.

"My leg!"

"My hand!"

Ryan was dumbfounded. This scene was too surreal for him.

Sebastian squinted slightly. Others didn't see it, but he saw everything clearly. From the moment Adelaide stepped aside, his eyes were fixed on her. He saw her hands move quickly, the long silver needles in her hands flashing like lightning, piercing the board members' bodies and quickly being withdrawn.

Throughout, Adelaide smiled as if nothing had happened.

When the board members were completely incapacitated, Adelaide walked over with a smile and stepped on the hand of the man who had cried out in pain, "Does it hurt?"
