Chapter 036 Really Disgusting

Monica turned away without a second thought, not wanting to stick around any longer.

Alexander was still fuming when he saw Monica heading for the door. Just as she was about to open it, the door swung open from the outside and smacked into her.

He quickly reached out, pulling her into his arms, concern flickering in his eyes as he looked at her face. "You okay?"

Monica nodded.

Alexander then glanced at the door, ready to chew out Joseph, but then he saw Stella. His mood soured even more. "What are you doing here?"

Stella noticed their close stance, gritting her teeth in jealousy, but she forced a smile. "I was here with a friend for dinner and saw Joseph outside. Thought it was you, so I came over to say hi."

"Ever heard of knocking?" Alexander's harsh tone sent a chill down Stella's spine.

But with Monica there, she couldn't back down and had to keep up the act.

So, she walked over to Alexander, smiling. "Sorry, Alexander. Are you guys done? I just finished up too; let's leave together."

Her words made it seem like they were super tight.

A flash of annoyance crossed Alexander's eyes.

But before he could say anything, Monica smiled.

She knew Stella was marking her territory, but she didn't care. She slipped out of Alexander's arms and smiled. "Thanks for the help, Mr. Smith. I won't bother you anymore, goodbye."

Alexander was irritated by her indifferent attitude, said nothing, and just snorted.

Stella hurried to Monica's side, pretending to be all sweet and caring. "Monica, I'm sorry, did I hit you just now?"

Monica didn't want to talk to her, but Stella's fake concern made her stomach churn. She could only look at her with a half-smile. "Ms. Brown, I've told you before, I don't want anything to do with you. Can you stop being so fake? It's really disgusting."

If Stella said one more word, Monica feared she might actually throw up.

Stella called out, all hurt, "Monica, I really see you as my sister, why do you hate me so much?"

As she spoke, she reached out to grab Monica's hand.

Monica immediately pulled her hand back, and Stella fell backward.

Neither Monica nor Alexander moved to help, just watching her hit the ground.

Stella was stunned. She had clearly fallen towards Alexander, yet he didn't catch her.

They just stood there, looking at her in her sorry state.

Monica sneered, "The same old trick from nine years ago, and you haven't changed a bit."

Stella looked hurt. "Monica, what are you talking about?"

"I told you, stop acting." Monica's voice was suddenly sharp.

Not only was Stella startled, but even Alexander didn't expect such a strong reaction from her, and he couldn't help but look at her.

But Monica just stared at Stella, her words cold. "Stella, do you think I'm still as naive as I was nine years ago?"

"Monica..." Stella instinctively wanted to call her affectionately, but seeing Monica's hateful gaze, she held back and said, all hurt, "Monica, why do you always misunderstand me? I don't even know what you're talking about."

"You don't know?" Monica laughed coldly. Stella, I really wonder how many times you practiced that fall to make it look like I pushed you down the stairs. Little did they know that when I reached out, it wasn't to hurt you; it was to save you."

Alexander was stunned by her words, staring at Monica as memories from nine years ago flooded back.

Back then, when everyone heard the commotion and rushed over, they saw Stella tumbling down the stairs, and Monica's hand was outstretched in mid-air.

Everyone, including him, thought Monica had pushed Stella.

Could it be that Monica had actually tried to save Stella?

He couldn't help but waver, wondering if they had all misunderstood Monica.

Seeing the shock on Alexander's face, Stella knew he was starting to doubt. She bit her lip hard, not expecting her appearance today to backfire and give Monica the upper hand.

She cried out, "My leg hurts, Alexander."

She reached out to him, looking pitiful.

But Monica had had enough and turned to leave.

Alexander frowned, instinctively wanting to chase after her, but Stella grabbed his pant leg, looking pained. "Alexander, help me up, please."

Alexander didn't move, looking down at her coldly.

Stella tried to explain, "Alexander, believe me, I didn't harm Monica. I just wanted to apologize to her. I don't know why she is so hostile towards me, I..."

"Enough!" Alexander's voice was stern.

He glanced in the direction Monica had left, but she was already gone.

He turned back to Stella. "Stella, I have nothing to do with you. If you interfere in my affairs again, the Smith Group and the Brown Group's cooperation will end. Do you understand?"

"Alexander..." She cried, looking at him pitifully.

Before she could say anything, he shook off her hand, picked up his coat from the chair, and walked out. But Alexander didn't want to look at her anymore.

Stella lay on the ground, finally crying out in grievance.

She didn't know what she had done wrong for Alexander to hate her so much, not even showing her any respect.

Joseph looked at her sorry state, shaking his head and sighing, thinking she brought it on herself.

She had grown up with Alexander, she should know Alexander hated people who didn't know their place the most, let alone someone who dared to meddle in his private affairs.

Even Monica, as Alexander's wife, had never done such a thing.

If Stella continued like this, the Brown Group might end up being buried with her.

But Joseph didn't plan to tell her this.

Alexander came out of the private room, chasing in the direction Monica had left.

He didn't know why he was in such a hurry until he spotted her by the elevator, at which point his heart calmed. He grabbed her arm and led her away without a word.

"What are you doing?" Monica was startled by him.

Alexander didn't answer her question, pulling her into his private elevator.

Monica was speechless, but he had already closed the elevator door, so she couldn't leave. She said patiently, "Mr. Smith, you are the boss here and have privileges, but I don't. Please don't do things that cause misunderstandings."
