Chapter 039 I Will Always Stand by Your Side

"Alright," Daniel nodded.

After hanging up, he grabbed Amelia's hand and called the family driver, "Chase, can you take us to the hospital?"

"Now?" Chase glanced at the clock. "It's already past eight, and you just got back. If Mr. Smith finds out, he will..."

"Please, it's urgent," Daniel cut him off, sounding desperate.

"Okay," Chase finally agreed.

Meanwhile, William and Sophia were coming downstairs.

Linda was cleaning the kitchen when she saw the kids rushing out. She quickly called out, "William, Sophia, where are you going?"

"We're going to the hospital to see Mommy," Sophia said, not even looking back as she changed her shoes.

"Ms. Brown is in the hospital? Don't worry, I'll take you."

"No need, we'll grab a cab."

The two kids changed their shoes and bolted out the door. Linda couldn't catch up with them.

Luckily, they were smart and resourceful. Monica didn't restrict them much, so Linda let it go.

The four kids set off from different places, all heading to the hospital.

To keep a low profile, they avoided crowded spots and chose the safety passage on the VIP floor of the inpatient department.

Daniel and Amelia got there first, with William and Sophia right behind them.

William, worried about being caught, carefully locked the door.

Sophia asked anxiously, "What's going on? How's Mommy?"

Amelia's eyes welled up with tears.

Daniel quickly said, "It's okay. I just checked, and Mommy's not in serious trouble, just a bit weak. Dad's with her in the ward now. We didn't get too close to avoid being seen. It's all my fault. Otherwise, Mommy wouldn't have fainted."

"Forget it, Daniel. As long as Mommy's okay, don't beat yourself up," Sophia tried to comfort him, but seeing Amelia cry made her tear up too.

Sophia hugged her and said, "Amelia, don't cry. It's not your fault. Mommy won't blame you."

The more she said this, the guiltier Amelia felt.

William nodded, still calm, "Sophia's right, but we want to know why you did this."

"I just wanted to bring Dad and Mommy together," Daniel said, watching William and Sophia's reactions.

Sure enough, William frowned, clearly not happy.

Sophia stayed silent.

"Don't you agree?" Daniel asked.

"Why should we?" Sophia scoffed. "He left Mommy back then, making her go through so much to raise us. We won't forgive him."

Her words were cold, but her stubborn look made Daniel and Amelia's hearts ache.

Compared to William and Sophia, Daniel knew he and Amelia were lucky.

In the Smith family, no one dared to mess with them, and they never really had it rough.

But William and Sophia had it differently. They grew up with Monica, went through a lot, and their dad didn't even know they existed. He even hated Monica.

They had every right to be mad.

"Sophia's right," William, who had been quiet, finally nodded. "We're doing fine without him. We don't need him."

His firm tone made Amelia cry even more, wiping her tears constantly.

She longed to be with her family. She wondered if she was being too selfish.

Daniel said, "I know you can't forgive Dad, but if you don't, we can never be together. We have to choose between him and Mommy. Can you really handle that?"

No one spoke.

He continued, "And I think he does care about Mommy. When she fainted, he was really worried. We all saw it."

Seeing William still unmoved, Daniel added, "William, if you don't believe me, check the surveillance at Blue Ocean Club. You'll see Dad was really worried about Mommy."

William nodded. He believed Daniel wouldn't lie about this.

"And I think he doesn't love you any less. He just doesn't know you exist. Look, he loves me, even though I'm a troublemaker. If he knew about you two, so smart and brilliant, how could he not love you? He just doesn't know."

Daniel continued, "Besides, the reason Dad and Mommy split was because of that woman, Stella. If it weren't for her meddling, I think he and Mommy wouldn't have separated. If you want to hate someone, hate her. She ruined our happy family."

After Daniel finished speaking, William and Sophia exchanged glances, both thinking that Daniel had made a valid point.

"So, can you give him another chance?" Daniel said, holding their hands.

Amelia, copying Daniel, grabbed their other hands and nodded pleadingly.

Sophia was already swayed.

But William remained unresponsive.

He always remembered what Evelyn told him. Whenever he thought of the hardships Monica endured for him, he couldn't bear it. He couldn't forgive Alexander.

Sophia, though swayed, understood William's feelings. She firmly said, "William, don't be sad. Whatever you decide, I will support you. If you don't forgive him, I won't either. I'll always stand by you."

Daniel, seeing his efforts almost succeed but ultimately fail, stomped his foot anxiously. "After all I've said, how can you still be like this? Do you really want to see that bad woman stay with Dad after all the bad things she's done?"

"If he wants that, what can we do?" William said coldly.

"No, he doesn't want that. How could he?" Daniel immediately defended his father, but it was no use.

"If Dad and Mommy can't be together, we can never be together, either. Mommy misses us so much. If we are alive but can't reunite with her, won't she be sad for the rest of her life?"
