Chapter 045 Self-Taught

Timothy explained, "In psychology, we use hypnosis a lot. What Amelia's playing is like hypnotic music. Sure, it's a bit off because no one taught her, but she's got the right idea."

"Are you sure?" Alexander asked.

"Absolutely. I always use it in my counseling."

Alexander went quiet.

Upstairs, Sophia came out of the music room just as William stepped out of his bedroom. They both overheard the conversation.

Did they just get busted?

Alexander spotted them and called them down.

No way out now, so they slowly made their way downstairs to face Alexander.

"Amelia, when did you learn this?" Alexander asked.

Actually, it was learned from Monica, but she couldn't bring it up.

William jumped in, "Amelia saw it in a video, thought it was cool, and picked it up."

Sophia nodded.

"No way," Timothy said.

William's story might fool Alexander, but Timothy was a pro and not easy to trick.

Alexander and Timothy exchanged looks.

Even though it seemed too weird, Amelia had never lied before.

Ruby, standing nearby, also thought it was strange and said, "A few days ago, it wasn't like this. How did it change so fast?"

Alexander had no clue what went wrong either.

Timothy looked at Sophia, shaking his head. This didn't make any sense. Learning professional hypnotic music was distinct from other genres. Without a professional teacher, merely watching videos wouldn't suffice unless she was a true prodigy.

But he had heard Amelia play before, and it was totally different.

He knew something was off, but it wasn't the right time to say more in front of the kid, so he gave Alexander a look.

Alexander got the hint, nodded, and said to Ruby, "Ruby, let's wrap it up for today. Thanks for your help."

"Alright, I'll head out then." Ruby also felt something was off, but she knew Amelia was different from other kids, so she didn't push it and left.

Timothy gently pulled Sophia in front of him and said, "Amelia, it's been a while. I heard you spoke recently. How about we have a chat?"

Sophia thought for a moment and nodded.

Timothy didn't want to make the little girl uncomfortable by taking her away from everyone in the living room. So, he sat down with her, played with her toys, and asked, "Can you try saying something to me now?"

Sophia shook her head immediately.

She definitely couldn't speak. If she did, they'd be found out. When Amelia came back, she wouldn't be able to talk. How would they keep up the act?

Nope, she couldn't speak.

Timothy kept his warm smile. "That's okay. How about we learn some new ways to respond?"

Sophia thought about it. With her sister's obedient nature, she'd definitely agree.

So, she nodded again.

Alexander watched from the sofa nearby, thinking that since his daughter could speak before, it was a good sign.

And even though Timothy seemed a bit offbeat, he was a professional psychologist. With his help, his daughter would surely get better soon.

So, he decided to skip going to the office and waited for Timothy to finish.

Timothy was super patient with the kids. He usually worked with Amelia for an hour, but today, he added an extra half hour.

When they were done, he let Amelia go play and followed Alexander to the study.

Joseph closed the door behind them.

Alexander immediately asked, "How is it? Is Amelia's condition improving?"

Timothy nodded. "Her condition is improving, and not just a little."

"What do you mean?"

"Before, when I talked to her, she was always very resistant. Today, I added an extra half hour, and she didn't resist at all. And when I talked to her, she responded. Before, her gaze was always unfocused, staring blankly at one spot. But now, when I talk to her, her eyes move, she's thinking. Although she hasn't spoken, she responds to everything I say."

"Does this mean she'll recover soon?" Alexander asked eagerly.

"No..." Timothy frowned even more, looking at Alexander several times, hesitant to speak.

This was very unlike Timothy's usual style.

Alexander had a bad feeling but still said, "Just say it, what's going on?"

Timothy thought for a moment and asked, "Haven't you noticed that Amelia is different from before?"

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Alexander was getting anxious, his tone becoming impatient. "Just say it."

"OK!" Timothy nodded. "I know Amelia's piano skills from before. Her sudden proficiency in this genre suggests she's not the same Amelia. Her personality and behavior also feel completely different, like a whole new person unrelated to Amelia."

"What do you mean?" Alexander still didn't understand.
