Chapter 4 My Woman
Michael arrived at the hall, and Aurora was apologizing with red-rimmed eyes. "Sorry, sir, I'm allergic to alcohol, I can't drink, I didn't mean to."
She was surrounded by people, looking very much like a frightened rabbit, with big tears rolling down her cheeks, looking pitiful.
And opposite her was the fierce wolf, Tate, whose expensive suit was splashed with red wine, and his face had completely darkened. "The Johnson Group, right? Very good."
"Of course, after all, she's my woman." Michael strode forward and took Aurora into his arms.
Thinking about what had just happened in the lounge, Tate's face looked even worse. "Mr. Johnson, you always manage to play the hero. Impressive."
"Mr. King, sorry, Aurora isn't feeling well, I'll take her back first." Michael ingored Tate's mockery.
He then looked at Alice, who had rushed over. "You apologize to Mr. King."
Aurora finally stopped crying and asked hesitantly, "Wouldn't it be inappropriate? I can go back by myself."
Alice said nothing, watching Michael leave with Aurora.
Michael didn't look at her, but everyone else's eyes were on her.
Tate sneered, "Ms. Baker, Mr. Johnson really is tender-hearted, isn't he?"
The people around also looked at Alice differently.
Everyone in the circle knew about Michael and Alice's relationship, but today, he brought another girl and treated her so well that anyone could see something was off.
Alice didn't respond, just smiled and took the towel from the waiter, carefully wiping Tate's suit.
Tate's eyes fell on her ample chest, and because she wasn't wearing nipple covers, the shape of her nipples was showing underneath her dress, making him feel aroused.
"Alice, why do you have to be with him? You should know you have many choices." He boldly grabbed Alice's wrist, rubbing it back and forth.
Alice pulled her hand back and smiled. "Not every choice is good, right?"
Alice drank quite a bit more during the event.
Seeing that she didn't have Michael to back her up, everyone came to make her drink.
She didn't get home until the early hours of the morning.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Michael sitting in the living room.
Alice kicked off her high heels and walked straight over to sit next to him. "I'm very tired."
She smelled a bit of strawberry sweetness on him, different from his usual scent.
It was Aurora's scent.
Alice sobered up quite a bit and stood up. "Did you send Aurora back?"
Michael looked up at her, his eyes devoid of emotion. "She's still young and doesn't understand anything."
"Yes, she really doesn't understand anything." Alice's tone didn't change. "So how long do you plan to keep her? Three months?"
Michael's little girlfriends changed one after another, the longest lasting no more than three months.
"She's different." Michael sighed. "Teach her more, don't let her feel she's not good enough."
His tone was full of affection, with a bit of helplessness.
Alice looked calmly into his eyes. "Are you serious this time?"
His tone rose, his voice full of joy. "Yes, I want to have a serious relationship, she's quite sweet."
Alice nodded slowly. "That's good."
She had been with him for ten years, he was indeed tired of her.
"So, are you staying tonight?" Alice's voice was cold, without a trace of emotion.
"Forget it." Michael got up and left.
Alice wanted to ask if their relationship was over, but all she was left with was the heavy sound of the door closing.
The next day at the office, Aurora was already sitting in the central position.
Seeing Alice come in, she quickly stood up nervously. "Alice, I'm sorry for taking your seat, but Mr. Johnson said he wants to supervise my work, so if I sit here, he can see me when he looks up."
Her cheeks were flushed, looking at Alice uneasily.
Alice just felt a headache, did she look like an old witch who scared Aurora just by looking at her?
"Get to work." Alice went to a corner seat, and the whole morning people kept coming to the secretary's office, all noticing Aurora's new position.
This quickly spread in the work group, and Alice saw everyone's discussions but didn't respond.
During lunch break, Aurora brought takeout directly into Michael's office, and they stayed inside for over an hour, with Aurora's shy laughter occasionally coming out.
It wasn't until Aurora came out that Alice got up and went to his office. "Mr. Johnson, you have a meeting with Mr. Woods today, the car is ready."
"Mr. Johnson, I ordered a strawberry milk tea... sorry." Aurora, who had just left, came back and directly pushed the door open, showing a frightened expression when she saw Alice.
"Got it." Michael pointed at Aurora. "She'll come with me, give her the materials."
Alice frowned slightly, then nodded. "There's also a department meeting at 3:30."
Michael didn't say much, directly got up, took the files from her hand, and handed them to Aurora, and they left together.
But even when the meeting started, Michael was nowhere to be seen.
Alice reassured the managers, constantly calling Michael.
The third time she dialed, the phone was finally answered, but it was Aurora's voice. "Alice, what's the matter?"
"Where's Mr. Johnson?" Alice asked urgently.
Aurora said with a sobbing tone, "I accidentally cut my hand with paper, Mr. Johnson brought me to the hospital, he went to get the medicine."
Alice glanced at the files on the table. "Is it serious?"
Aurora was silent for a moment, then softly said, "Mr. Johnson said it's very serious."
Her voice was soft, indeed like a child.
Before Alice could say more, the phone was taken over by someone else.
Michael's indifferent voice came through, "Meeting canceled, you arrange it, I have important things to deal with."
With that, he hung up the phone.
Looking at the managers in the meeting room, Alice just felt a headache.
After finally dealing with the managers, Michael's call came in again. "Go meet Mr. Woods."
His voice carried a hint of impatience.
"Didn't you go earlier?" Alice just felt her temples throbbing, a feeling of suppressed emotion about to burst.
"Aurora is injured." His voice paused. "From now on, no sharp paper or folders in the office."
Listening to the busy tone on the phone, Alice just felt like she wanted to curse but couldn't.
She hurriedly printed the documents and rushed to Vanguard Innovations Group.
Two hours late, Vincent Woods, who Michael was supposed to meet today, was already impatient and didn't even let her in, just sent her back.
On the way back, Alice kept her eyes closed, barely suppressing her anger.
Back at the office, she saw Aurora handing out desserts to everyone. "These are from Mr. Johnson and me, try them, they're delicious."
They were classic desserts from a five-star hotel, usually only available by reservation, and extremely expensive.
Seeing Alice, Aurora quickly brought over a strawberry mousse. "Alice, I saved this for you, it's the best."
Alice's eyes fell on the band-aid wrapped around her finger, the injury was really serious, wasn't it?
Suddenly the office door was pushed open, and Michael walked over to Alice with a grim face. "Didn't I tell you to meet Mr. Woods, why are you here?"
